Iran threatens response if US crosses 'red line': ambassador
The United States is "complicit" in Israel's strikes in Iran, Tehran's ambassador to the United Nations claimed Wednesday, vowing that his country would respond if Washington crosses a "red line".
After decades of enmity and a prolonged shadow war, Israel says its surprise air campaign that began on June 13 is aimed at preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons -- an ambition Tehran denies.
Iran said early Wednesday that it fired hypersonic missiles at Israel in the latest round of overnight strikes between the arch foes.
US President Donald Trump has said that Washington has played no part in the bombing campaign by its ally Israel, but has also warned Iran that his patience is wearing thin.

"We firmly believe that the United States is complicit in what Israel is doing," Iranian ambassador Ali Bahreini told a press conference.
"And at any time, at any point, if we come to the conclusion that the United States is directly involved in attacks against Iran, we will start responding to the United States."
He said Tehran was "vigilant" about Trump's "completely unwarranted" and "hostile" remarks.
"There is a line which, if crossed, there should be a response on our side... once the red line is crossed, the response will come," Bahreini said.
- 'We will respond strongly' -
"We will respond strongly and we will stop aggression from any side, be it Israel or the United States," he told the UN correspondents' association.
"And we have given a message to the United States that we will respond very firmly and will stop the aggression by anybody -- including the United States.
Bahreini also said Tehran was "resolute in responding to Israeli attacks".
"We will respond very, very, very seriously and strongly, and that is what we are doing now. Nobody should expect Iran to show any kind of restraint," he said.
He also criticised the attitude of Western and European nations.
"Not only they are not condemning the attacks and aggression, they are trying to justify the aggression," he said.
Addressing the UN Human Rights Council on Wednesday, Bahreini issued a warning to Israel's allies.
"The Israeli regime's supporters, and the United States at the forefront, should know that supporting this regime means directly supporting international humanitarian and human rights law violations," he said.

We are already suffering from price rises in our fuel… We want the conflict to come to an end,' he said. According to reports, Iran and Israel traded strikes overnight, with no signs of de-escalation in their weeklong conflict. Lobbyists call for speedy processing of refugees in SA
CAPE TOWN - Refugee lobby groups have highlighted the challenges refugees face when seeking safety in other countries. Marking World Refugee Day on Friday, these groups say migrants often go through lengthy processes to obtain a permit to stay in the country. The Consortium for Refugees and Migrants in South Africa (CoRMSA) believes collaboration between government departments will ensure refugees are assisted speedily. The executive director for CoRMSA, Thifulufheli Sinthumule, said, 'The refugee ACT of South Africa, it requires that if you have got a strong claim that you are fearing persecution from your home country you are able to enter the Republic of South Africa, and you are required to report to the nearest refugee reception centres across the country and we have only five refugee reception centre which is in Musina, PE, Durban and Western Cape and Pretoria.' Sinthumule said that according to the United Nations, some refugees wait up to eight years for their cases to be processed. 'As a refugee, you need to be fearing persecution from your home country in a sense that you belong to a particular political party that doesn't share the views of the ruling party, or you belong to a particular social group, like religion, that is not wanted by other particular social groups.' He added that asylum seekers and refugees encountered numerous systemic and social obstacles. 'They also face on a social level the issue of discrimination and xenophobic attacks from the local communities, especially from the anti-migrant social movement like your Operation Dudula, your Patriotic Alliance and other allied organisations who have strong positions on anti-migration.' At the moment, noted Sinthumule, there are more than 150,000 appeals for refugee status pending.. 'The Home Affairs needs to investigate your allegations or your claim to see if the reasons for you being in South Africa qualifies you to be a refugee. If your reasons deem [you] qualifying, you will then be adjudicated and be granted and given or issued with a Section 24 permit.'

Israel military confirms hitting Hezbollah site in south Lebanon
JERUSALEM - Israel's military said Saturday its navy hit a Hezbollah "infrastructure site" near the southern Lebanese city of Naqoura, a day after Israel's foreign minister warned the Lebanese armed group against entering the Iran-Israel war. "Overnight, an Israeli Navy vessel struck a Hezbollah 'Radwan Force' terrorist infrastructure site in the area of Naqoura in southern Lebanon", the military said in a statement. The military said the site was used by Hezbollah "to advance terror attacks against Israeli civilians". In a separate statement on Saturday, the military said it had "struck and eliminated" a Hezbollah militant in south Lebanon the previous day, despite an ongoing ceasefire between both sides. In a statement carried by the official National News Agency, Lebanon's health ministry said late on Friday that one person was killed in a "strike carried out by an Israeli enemy drone on a motorcycle" in the same south Lebanon village. The November ceasefire aimed to end hostilities between Israel and Hezbollah, which sparked months of deadly hostilities by launching cross-border attacks on northern Israel in solidarity with Palestinian ally Hamas following its October 7, 2023 attack on Israel. Lebanon's army, which has been dismantling Hezbollah infrastructure as part of the truce, said earlier in June that the Israeli military's ongoing violations and "refusal to cooperate" with the ceasefire monitoring mechanism "could prompt the (Lebanese) military to freeze cooperation" on site inspections.
