Man commits suicide after daughter allegedly accuses him of rape

A man committed suicide after his daughter allegedly accused him of rape.
According to information, the 45-year-old suspect started raping his daughter in 2017 when she was 17 years old.
The victim disclosed the incidents to her mother in 2024. Disturbed by what her daughter told her, the mother separated from the suspect without reporting the matter to the police at the time.
In 2025, the situation escalated when the suspect began harassing both the mother and his daughter at their place of residence, prompting the mother to open a case of rape at a police station.
Before the suspect could be arrested, he called his relative on Thursday, 12 June 2025, to inform them that he had ingested poison after a rape case was opened against him.
When emergency services and police responded, the suspect was already declared dead at the scene.
The police in Leslie opened an inquest docket and investigations surrounding his death are still ongoing.
The Acting Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS in Mpumalanga, Major General (Dr) Zeph Mkhwanazi, urged the public to report sexual crimes immediately.
She says, 'We commend the victim for her courage in coming forward. Sexual abuse has no place in our society. We urge anyone who is a victim or witness to such crimes to seek help and report the matter without delay.'
Serial rapist, Japhta Pitsi David Mabitsela (32), was sentenced to 25 years' imprisonment for harassing women and children in the Mankweng and Sebayeng policing areas.
Between the years 2011 and 2021, Mabitsela targeted women and girls aged between 12 and 38 years.
He would forcefully break into the victim's homes at night, attack them on the streets and would drag them to secluded areas in the bushes and rape them.
Forensic investigation techniques used DNA evidence to link the suspect to other crimes he committed, and he was arrested in January 2024.
The suspect was given an effective sentence of 25 years' imprisonment, with three years suspended for a period of five years.

Man sentenced to life imprisonment for rape

The Springs Magistrate Court has sentenced Thobimvula Ngeyane to life imprisonment over charges of rape. Ngeyane was charged after raping a 44-year-old woman at his home in Kwa-Thema, Gauteng in November 2022. The 40-year-old accused pretended to buy a cold drink at the victim's place and asked her to follow him to his home to collect money for the drink. Upon arrival at his home, Ngeyane raped the victim and stopped when his younger brother walked in on them. A case of rape was opened at SAPS Kwa-Thema and transferred to Springs Family violence, Child Protection Services and Sexual Offenses Unit. After thorough investigations, the accused was arrested and sentenced to life imprisonment. In other news, the Standerton Regional Court sentenced a serial rapist to 25 years' imprisonment for raping a woman in 2016. According to police, the victim was on her way to a hiking spot along Secunda Road (R546) near Charl Cilliers in May 2016 when she accepted a lift from an unknown man driving a white vehicle of an unidentified make and registration number. Initially, the suspect claimed he was heading in the same direction as the victim but later changed his route and claimed he needed to pick up others from a nearby farm. The suspect then suddenly stopped the vehicle near a dumping site and assaulted the victim. 'It is further alleged that he moved to the passenger seat, used a hat to cover the victim's nose, and physically assaulted her.' 'The suspect then tied her with a seatbelt, forcibly removed her clothing, and raped her multiple times without protection, despite her resistance and cries for help,' the police statement read. After the assault, the suspect wiped himself and the victim, removed the vehicle's registration plate and hid it under the driver's seat. He then threw the victim's belongings out of the vehicle before abandoning her in an isolated area. The victim hitchhiked to Charl Cilliers for help and was transferred to Standerton Police Station for further investigation and a medical examination. In a twist of events, the victim witnessed the suspect being escorted by prison wardens at a hospital and immediately alerted the police. The police identified the suspect and arrested him. He was found guilty of rape and sentenced to 25 years in prison. The sentence will run concurrently with other prison terms he is already serving, including housebreaking, two counts of assault, 10 counts of rape, kidnapping and three counts of theft. Wanted Mozambican kidnapper killed by cops in Fourways

In yet another success story for the national anti-kidnapping task team, a wanted Mozambican kidnapper was shot dead this week during a tracing operation in Johannesburg. National police spokesperson Brig Athlende Mathe said the anti-kidnapping task team traced a Mozambican kidnapping kingpin to a block of apartments in Fourways. 'The team was tracing a kidnapped Pakistani businessman from Pretoria West. He is still in captivity and the team is still searching for [him]. A ransom demand has been made to the businessman's family,' Mathe said. The tracing operation began at a residential complex in Midrand where they seized a Mercedes-Benz, a silver Pajero and arrested two kidnappers. 'They proceeded to Fourways where the task team announced their arrival and a shoot-out ensued. One suspect was fatally wounded and upon further investigation, it was discovered that 40-year-old Mauro Mucambe Junior is a wanted kidnapping kingpin in Mozambique where he has been linked to several kidnappings. His warrant of arrest was issued by Maputo police in August 2024.' One unlicensed firearm used by the fugitive was seized, including 10 rounds of ammunition. Four cellphones and four bank cards were also seized. 'The SAPS has full faith and confidence in the work of the anti-kidnapping task team to rescue the kidnapped businessman. Since January 2024, the team has arrested more than 170 criminals involved in kidnappings for ransom. More than R1.2m has been recovered. More than 100 victims were rescued mainly in Gauteng and more than 40 vehicles used in kidnapping crimes were seized by the team. 'The anti-kidnapping task team recently registered a breakthrough in the Olorato Mongale murder case where they led the tracing operation of Philangenkosi Makhanya. The search is still on for Bongani Mthimkhulu,' Mathe said. TimesLIVE
