A special plea will be made at this weekend's Rally of the Lakes to help bring missing Kerry farmer Mike Gaine home.
The 56-year old has now been missing almost 40 days since Friday, March 20 and despite an almost six-week garda investigation there has been no lead into what happened to him.
Mike was a great supporter of motorsport in Kerry, and a former competitor, and this weekend his friends in rallying circles have joined the ongoing search for the farmer with their own special plea.
All rally cars competing in this weekend's Rally of the Lakes will carry special stickers in support of the search for missing Kenmare man Michael Gaine.

The stickers read: 'Mike Gaine - Help bring him back - One of our own – Rally of the Lakes 2025'.
Friend and rally driver Thomas Randles said this week this was something they wanted to do to help Mike.
"I know Mike since he was a teenager I drew silage with him and he worked in the quarry with me. He had a fierce interest in rallying and he would go to watch stages a lot.'
"Every time we do the Molls Gap stage we pass his land and when people are watching it they are standing on his land and he never objected to it.'
'This year as we pass Molls Gap we will beep in honour of him'.
In the late 1980s and early 1990s, Michael was a familiar sight on the stages behind the wheel of his Ford Escort Mk2 and since then interest has continued with Mike regularly attending events.
The stickers were handed out in each rally pack and the cars will have Mike's picture on them with their plea and it is hoped that the latest effort to help find Mike will bring more information to light.
"We would just like his disappearance to come to a conclusion. This was his sport and we wanted to do this for him,' said Thomas.
The last official sighting of Mike Gaine is buying phone credit in his local Central Shop on March 20. He was officially reported missing on Friday, March 21.
He left the shop in his bronze-coloured Toyota RAV 4, with the registration 152KY366. The car was found in his farm yard just off the N71 at Carraig East, Kenmare along with his phone and wallet.
Since then – almost six weeks ago – gardaí have led an investigation into his disappearance but despite one of the most extensive searches ever carried out in Kerry his disappearance remains a mystery.
Gardaí have described the case as 'unique and challenging'.
Gardaí are examining all options, and although foul play has not been ruled out, there is no evidence of any crime.
The Defence Forces has now spent four weeks searching the 1,000-acre farm, but nothing of any significance has been found.
Last week Defence Forces personnel from 12th Infantry Battalion and an Engineer Specialist Search Team (ESST) from 1 Brigade Engineer Group continued their search of Mr Gaine's farm in Kenmare which spans more than 1,000 acres of difficult terrain.
In the past six weeks An Garda Síochána has been helped by the Civil Defence (Kerry and Cork), Irish Coast Guard Units (Glenderry and Iveragh), Irish Coastguard Rescue Helicopter 115, Kerry Mountain Rescue, Search and Rescue Dog Team, Kerry Fire Service and 200 civilian volunteers to help search for Mike but to no avail.
To date An Garda Síochána has undertaken nearly 230 formal jobs/inquiries, taken nearly 100 witness statements and recovered about 1,500 hours of CCTV/dash-cam footage.
In their latest appeal Gardaí reached out to cycling clubs in Kerry to see if any of their members were in the vicinity of the farm on March 20.
However, there is still no conclusion to what has become one of the county's and country's most prominent missing cases.
Mr Gaine is described as being about 5ft 10in, with a stocky build, brown/grey hair and a bushy beard.
When last seen, he was wearing an orange woolly hat, black fleece, blue jeans and black boots.

Defence Forces risks 'not serving public interest' and wasting taxpayer's money
The Defence Forces tribunal faces 'falling short' of its aims and is in danger of wasting taxpayer money, it has heard in a special sitting. In a submission to chairperson Ms Justice Ann Power, a solicitor for the Defence Forces Justice Alliance said there was a risk the tribunal would 'not sufficiently serve the public interest and may instead represent a further misuse of public resources and funds'. The sitting of the tribunal, which was established to inquire into how the Defence Forces' handled complaints about abuse, also heard a 'software hiccup' had delayed the provision of documents from the Defence Forces to the tribunal team. The way abuse is defined is one of the main issues concerning survivors of Defence Forces mistreatment and other abuses. John Geary, of JV Geary Solicitors, said at the sitting that current tribunal definitions of "abuse" and "complaints of abuse" complicate matters. This was, he said, because the tribunal's definitions of what abuse is did not exist within the Defence Forces' own complaints processes — known as the Redress of Wrongs system — before the tribunal was even set up. He also said in order to participate in the tribunal, he said it appeared complainants had to prove any so-called 'interpersonal' issues they had must first fall within the definition of abuse or complaints of abuse. He told Ms Justice Power very few of the members of the Defence Forces Justice Alliance, for example, had ever submitted complaints of abuse. They had instead submitted 'complaints of inappropriate behaviour and complaint grievances'. Mr Geary said: 'The Defence Forces Justice Alliance are concerned the terms of reference continue to cause further trauma to victims of abuse. They reflect a complete disregard for whether the interpersonal issues contained in submitted complaints are credible.' In response, Defence Forces Senior Counsel (SC) Darren Lehane said: 'The tribunal has no power to expand its terms of reference. This can only be done pursuant to the procedures set out in the Tribunals of Inquiry (Evidence) Act 1921-2011. 'This may involve a request which must then be considered by the Attorney General on behalf of the minister and must then be followed by a resolution passed by both Houses of the Oireachtas.' His colleague Patrick McCann (SC) also told Ms Justice Power there was a delay accessing certain files relevant to the tribunal because there were 189 markers — or reference points — missing from complaints files. He explained 'a universe of documents, maybe 72 million' will be searched in an attempt to find the missing markers. The number of documents being searched represents, he said, 'every single document that was created and saved at some point is somewhere on the IT network'. He added: '[There's] been a software hiccup in that respect, but hopefully that's resolved, and those searches are beginning.' The sitting also heard Defence Forces tribunal staff have had to undergo trauma training, due to the nature of the material they are expected to have to review. Ms Justice Power said her team needed training on the best way to handle serious allegations concerning a variety of matters, including 'physical torture, physical assault, psychological harm, sexual harassment, and sexual misconduct'. The tribunal was one of the recommendations of the Independent Review Group report in March 2023, which concluded the Defence Forces "barely tolerates women", and, at its worst, verbally, physically, sexually and psychologically abuses women in its ranks. It noted 80% of harassment of male and female personnel was perpetrated by one or more members of a higher rank to the victim.

'You won't be forgotten' - murdered farmer's friend pays tearful tribute
A close friend of murder victim Mike Gaine has paid an emotional tribute to him days after the Kerry farmer was laid to rest. Shane McCarthy, who was heavily involved with Mr Gaine in his beloved sport of rallying, released the tribute on TikTok on Monday. 'Mike, you'll never be forgotten. A true friend,' he wrote. And he put up a series of photographs of 56-year-old Mr Gaine, whose Funeral Mass took place in his native Kenmare on Saturday morning. The Funeral Mass, followed by a private laying to rest, came just over a fortnight after the partial remains of Mr Gaine – last seen in Kenmare on March 20 - were found on his 1,000 acre farm at Carrig East, some 8kms outside the town. To the song Those Were The Days by acclaimed Irish songwriter and singer Barry Kerr, Mr McCarthy published more than dozen photos of Mr Gaine. They include him taking part in car rallies. They also include Mr Gaine socialising. And there are also images of him posing at a sign for Moll's Gap - near his home outside Kenmare. Hundreds of people responded to Mr McCarthy's post throughout Monday. One said: "Best post I've seen here about this man, thanks for posting." Another said: "What a beautiful tribute. I hope Mike and all his friends and family get justice, his poor dog too. May he rest now. Thanks for sharing these pics with us." And another said: "The light of heaven to you, Mike. King of the road. RIP." Gardai are still probing the murder of Mr Gaine, but nobody has been charged. Former US Army private Michael Kelley, 53, who lived on Mr Gaine's land, was arrested and released over the murder last month. He has repeatedly denied any involvement in the murder of Mr Gaine.
