Subhash Ghai drops BIG update on Sanjay Dutt and Madhuri Dixit's Khal Nayak sequel and we bet you're going to love it
Khal Nayak, starring Sanjay Dutt, Madhuri Dixit, and Jackie Shroff, hit the theaters more than three decades back. Fans have been demanding a sequel of this classic cult since then. Filmmaker Subhash Ghai, who had been hinting at a potential sequel for a long time, has finally given a major update on it and we bet fans are going to absolutely love it. He shared that the scripting of Khak Nayak 2 has been completed and the cast and crew will soon be finalized.
In a recent chat with ETimes, filmmaker Subhash Ghai, who directed the original Khal Nayak in 1993, shared, 'Yes, the script is complete now and the rest of the cast and technicians will soon be finalized.'
Earlier, a source informed Filmfare that the director is excited about Khal Nayak's sequel. The report added that the film will also have newcomers playing the lead roles. However, Madhuri Dixit and Sanjay Dutt will be cast for cameo appearances. The project is already in the works.
Meanwhile, back in 2024, Subhash Ghai opened up about rumors of recasting Ballu and clarified that Sanjay Dutt will only play the iconic role. He said that he isn't looking for actors to play Ballu Balram but young actors to play new roles in the sequel. The filmmaker added that the young cast will be pitted against Ballu (played by Sanjay).
For the unversed, Khal Nayak has become a cult classic over the years. The 1993 film became a major hit upon its release with Sanjay Dutt, Madhuri Dixit, and Jackie Shroff in key roles.
With its daring take on themes of sin and salvation, combined with unforgettable tracks like Choli Ke Peeche, the film became a landmark in pop culture.
Even today, Khal Nayak stands tall as a defining work in the journeys of Sanjay, Madhuri, and director Subhash Ghai. Anticipation is high to find out what filmmaker Subhash Ghai has planned for the upcoming Khal Nayak sequel.

India's biggest flop film was produced by Ratan Tata, made for Rs 80 crore, film earned only Rs…, even Amitabh Bachchan couldn't save it, movie is…
India's one of the most respected and renowned business leaders, Ratan Tata, passed away at the age of 86 in 2024. Apart from being a known and loved businessman, Ratan Tata also had a brief connection with Bollywood. Interestingly, Ratan Tata also produced a film which had Amitabh Bachchan in it. He invested in the film, but even a big name like Amitabh couldn't save it from flopping. While you may feel curious about the film produced by Ratan Tata, let us make it easy for you by telling you the name. It is Bipasha Basu and John Abraham's erotic thriller Aetbaar. About The Film Produced by Ratan Tata Aetbaar was released in 2004 and featured Bipasha Basu and John Abraham in lead roles. The movie is about how a woman wants to get rid of her husband, and for that, she traps an unemployed man as the killer of her husband. The movie is helmed by Vikram Bhatt and also starred Supriya Pilgaonkar. The movie was inspired by the 1996 American film Fear. Though the film was a huge flop, stories from the set often emerge. One such incident was shared by John Abraham, when he revealed that he was once denied entry to the film's muhurat shot. In an interview with Filmfare, he recalled, 'When I arrived for my first muhurat shot, I came on a motorcycle. The film was Aetbaar, and Hrithik Roshan and Amitabh Bachchan were there to clap the board for me. Hrithik and I were classmates—he's a sweetheart. But when I reached the venue, the security stopped me at the gate and asked, 'Who are you?' I told them, 'This is my film's muhurat,' but they didn't recognize me and refused to let me in.' He added, 'Finally, after some convincing, they opened the gates, and I saw Amitabh Bachchan and Hrithik Roshan waving at me, calling me in. That was my first time—it happened at Sujeet Kumar's house.'

"I'd cast Jugal Hansraj, Pankaj Tripathi, Kiara Advani as Traitors—they come across as so positive and happy"- Mukesh Chhabra gets real about betrayal, game play and losing on 'The Traitors'
1 2 3 Famous Bollywood casting director Mukesh Chhabra—known for launching stars namely late actor Sushant Singh Rajput , Rajkummar Rao , Vicky Kaushal , Sanya Malhotra, Mrunal Thakur, Fatima Sana Shaikh, and Tripti Dimri, recently made his reality TV debut on The Traitors . However, fans were left stunned when he was unexpectedly eliminated from the show. In this exclusive chat with ETimes , Mukesh opens up about betrayal, the sting of losing, his unexpected learnings, and the Bollywood actors he'd cast as traitors and innocents. 'It Was an Amazing Experience, Very Different From Anything I've Done' Mukesh sir, though your exit came early, how would you describe your experience on The Traitors? It was a very good, amazing experience. What a brilliant show! It opens up all the holes in your mind—it's very different from anything else. This was my first reality show ever, and I'm really happy that I started this part of my career with The Traitors . 'I Was Really Hurt… Even a Game of Ludo Hurts When You Lose' Though it's part of the game's format, how did you feel when you got the draw? Oh, I felt very, very, very bad. You know how you feel bad after losing even simple games at home, like Ludo or Gully Cricket? It still hurts. So yes, for a couple of days I was quite upset. But then I convinced myself— it's just a game . Still, when you're betrayed—even in a game—it stings. Whether it's Chess, Football, or The Traitors , it's human to feel hurt. I was really affected, but I came to terms with it eventually. 'I'd 100% Go Back – Now I Know How to Play' If the show allowed a wild card entry, would you consider returning? 100%! And this time, I know exactly how to play. I've figured out the format and the mindset you need. 'My Biggest Learning? Don't Trust Anyone—Not Even the Ones You Eat and Laugh With' What did you learn from the game? That you shouldn't trust anyone—not even the people you're eating, sitting, or roaming around with. You never know who's betraying you. That's the biggest lesson 'The Traitors' has taught made me rethink how I view trust and relationships. 'I Love Karan Johar—We've Worked on So Many Films Together' What's your personal equation with Karan Johar ? I love Karan. We've worked on so many Dharma films together—short films and features. We share a great professional relationship, and I have a lot of respect for him. 'If I Had to Cast a 'Traitor' in Bollywood…' If you had to cast Bollywood actors as traitors and innocents, who would you choose? (Laughs) That's a tricky one! Honestly, everyone seems innocent at first. But if I had to go with the casting thing, I'd cast Jugal Hansraj, Pankaj Tripathi, Kiara Advani as Traitors—they come across as so positive and happy, which is exactly why they could surprise and shock people. Sometimes the most charming faces hide the biggest twists!
