Panthers' Matthew Tkachuk Reveals Serious Injuries He Suffered

Florida Panthers star Matthew Tkachuk played his last regular-season game of the 2024-25 season on Feb. 8 against the Ottawa Senators due to injury. He returned to action at the start of the playoffs, which Tkachuk openly admitted he was not sure he would be able to play until shortly before the post-season began. The Panthers certainly benefited with Tkachuk in the lineup during their Stanley Cup championship run, as he thrived this post-season. In 23 games, the 6-foot-2 winger posted eight goals, 23 points, and a plus-7 rating. This included recording three goals and seven points in six games in the Stanley Cup Final against the Edmonton Oilers. Advertisement Following the Panthers' Game 6 win, Tkachuk revealed his injuries, and they were certainly serious ones. While speaking to TNT Sports' Darren Pang, the Panthers star shared that he tore his adductor off the bone and had a hernia on the same side. "I tore my adductor off the bone and then had some hernia thing all on the same side. I wanted to throw in the towel a bunch of times," Tkachuk said. "I gotta thank a bunch of people for getting me healthy enough. I'm sure I wasn't the easiest to deal with. My fiancee did a great job with that on days when I probably wasn't in the best mood coming to the rink. My trainers, maybe when I wasn't in the best mood, when I was in pain. I just owe them so much." Tkachuk once again said he wasn't sure if we would be able to play this post-season and then said he felt better as the playoffs continued. Advertisement "I really didn't think I would be playing, or at least playing to my capabilities. The longer the playoffs went, the better I felt. I owe that to the guys for giving me some wiggle room to feel good." Now, Tkachuk's hard work to getting healthy paid off big time, as he is a Stanley Cup champion for the second year in a row and was one of Florida's top contributors in the process. Matthew Tkachuk taunts Oilers captain McDavid at Florida Panthers celebration bash

This in from the X account of Florida Panthers fan Jen @jenpnthr, video of Panthers winger Matthew Tkachuk taunting Edmonton Oilers captain Connor McDavid at a Stanley Cup celebration party. 'Connor McDavid who?!' shouts Tkachuk into a mic, igniting the crowd into a profane chant about McDavid. 1. Celebrating a Stanley Cup win is all fun until someone loses an eye. Many Oilers fan are upset and insulted by Tkachuk's outburst, but this was a bitter series, Tkachuk is a big mouth, so I don't see any need to get worked up. In fact, I love Tkachuk's outburst, which is almost certainly going to make its way to McDavid. If McDavid was angry before about this Stanley Cup loss, this won't improve his mood. 2. How bitter is Panthers-Oilers rivalry? TSN's James Duthie reported in the final days of the Final: 'Multiple people, who are involved or close enough to hear it all, say this is the nastiest trash-talking Stanley Cup Final they've ever seen. Usually some subjects are off limits. Not here. Everything on the table. 'Pure verbal hate'' 3. The Tkachuk bothers are already talking about the USA winning Olympic gold in February. The last time Team Canada faced Team USA at the Four Nations tournament, the incendiary Tkachuk bros tried to start a riot on the ice. They were less brash after McDavid scored in OT to vanquish the Americans. McDavid is slated to lead Team Canada in the Winter Olympics. Canadian teams may not have won the Stanley Cup in more than three decades, but if I recall correctly, Team Canada has done OK at recent Olympic Games best-on-best tournaments, with three gold medals out of the last four such tournaments (2002, 2010 and 2014).
