Loose Women hosting shake-up as brand new star joins ITV panel - and reveals disgusting insult she received just minutes into show
Tanni Grey-Thompson joined the Loose Women panel on Thursday's episode of the show - and revealed a disgusting insult she received just minutes into the programme.
The Paralympian, 55, who was born with spina bifida, joined Jane Moore, 62, Coleen Nolan, 60, and Katie Piper, 41, to chat about this week's newsworthy topics.
Right at the start of the episode the Loose ladies discussed how you prepare kids for a trauma, after Freddie Flintoff's wife Rachael revealed how she instructed their children to react when confronted with his injuries from his car crash in 2022.
During the chat, Tanni touched upon a moment that happened when she was just five years old that left the panel and studio in shock.
Tanni said: 'I know when I was young, I was five when I complete stranger stopped me in the street and asked me why my parents hadn't terminated the pregnancy.
'You don't really understand, my mum sat down with me and she talked through what that was and what it meant.
'She was really honest with me.
'When I was born, they were told if I had been born a couple of years earlier, I'd have been taken away, not fed and allowed to die.
'Again, she was talking about that. She was quite open with me.
'She said that if she'd known she was going to have a baby born with spina bifida, she might have considered termination.'
Jane chimed in: 'Because she didn't know you at that point.'
She continued: 'People get upset but she never said having had you, I would wish to terminate it.
'That open conversation, kids can be really accepting. They see what's in front of them.
'They learn to adapt. It's only later...'
Jane said: 'Just don't lie to them!'
Tanni is best known for her wheelchair racing career, being a politician and being on the TV.
She started her wheelchair racing career at the age of 13 and has gone on to win multiple medals.
Some include gold at the 1992 Barcelona Olympic Games for 100m, 200m, 400m and 800m.
She also won gold at the Sydney Games in 2000 for the same events.
Tanni also bagged gold at the 1998 World Championships.
Elsewhere in the episode Beyoncé's mother Tina Knowles fought back the tears as she recounted her 'devastating' breast cancer battle and divorce.
Tina, who is mum to the If I Were A Boy singer, 43, and Solange Knowles, 38, was recently diagnosed with Stage 1 breast cancer after doctors discovered two tumors during a mammogram appointment.
She appeared on the ITV chat show to talk to Charlene White, 44, and Jane Moore, 62, about her new book Matriarch, which was released earlier this week. Her recent diagnosis was touched upon after Charlene was keen to find out if she had a group of close pals that she could turn to in a time of need.
Tina said: 'Friendship with women is of the utmost importance to me, it's one of my biggest priorities to stay connected because when I went through that, I depended on my daughters.
'I didn't tell everybody in my friends group. I didn't have to tell them what was going on.
'I just went to Houston, gathered my girlfriends, we went to church, we went to lunch, we went parting at the club, dancing.'
As her emotions got the better of her and her eyes started to tell up, she continued: 'I just told them I don't want to talk about what's going on, but I need you right now.
'They were all right there with me. They've been a big part of my life, my whole life.'

The Loose Women favourite lifts the lid on her relationship with her husband and reveals why the happy couple needed therapy Katie Piper has opened up about going through couples therapy to make her marriage stronger. The campaigner and presenter, who has been with husband Richard Sutton since 2013, said the pair continue to work on their relationship more than a decade later. Describing it as a 'relationship MOT', Katie, 41, says it's been key to keeping their marriage on track. 'I've had therapy in lots of ways that people wouldn't [expect],' she explained. 'Therapy for the burn injury stopped years ago. I've had therapy since for normal things in life that people go through that aren't visible. I've been to couples therapy with Rich. It's like a relationship MOT and it helps because it validates what you're going through.' Loose Women star Katie says it's helped her feel 'seen and heard'. 'It's healthy for your marriage and friendships,' advocates the mum-of-two. 'Relationships go through different seasons. You see him as your boyfriend, then he's your husband, then you see him as a dad. It sounds a bit cliché and overused, but Rich has got a lot of kindness at his core.' The couple have daughters Belle, 11, and Penelope, seven, and Katie says she'd love to expand their family. After trying for a third baby but not being successful, Katie says they have been talking about fostering and adoption. 'I know the kids would love another child,' Katie admits. 'We tried naturally before I turned 40 but it wasn't meant to be. We talked about how far we would take it – IVF and fostering or adopting. I would lean more to fostering and adopting because I was like, 'I'm done with medical stuff.'' The household has grown recently - with the addition of a dog. 'The kids have always wanted a dog and [this year] we rehomed one from Battersea, through Alison Hammond on For the Love of Dogs,' Katie told woman&home magazine in a new intereview. 'It's like having a newborn but it's good for the kids. It has given them something to pour their responsibility into.' Katie survived a sulphuric acid attack by an ex-boyfriend when she was 24. She suffered severe scarring to her face, chest, neck, arm and hands, and has undergone more than 250 operations. She became a campaigner after the 2008 horror. She recently said she "never thought she'd make it to 40" after the devastating attack. Sharing her thoughts on the beauty pressures put on women, Katie says they should embrace ageing. 'Women, I think, often feel that they fade out of the male gaze, and I was removed in seconds at 24,' she said. 'Nobody experiences such rapid transition and that's why it [was] traumatic and unnatural. We live in a society that values beauty and youth, so it's [about] exploring where you sit with that, and how that affects how you operate and your identity. 'I don't want women to fear transition. I want them to be malleable, not rigid. I want them to know there is life after and not to feel controlled by their circumstances.... Now I've arrived in [my] 40s, I realise that this is the time of my life when I've truly been living.' The August issue of woman&home is on sale Thursday. Coronation Street drugs victim 'sealed' as discovery sparks desperate action

As the trio try to figure out who has taken and possibly drunk from the cup with the drugs in, Aadi panics when he learns his twin sister Asha has left the house for work just after drinking lemonade. Aadi tells the girls it was a cup of lemonade that the LSD was in, and he frantically calls his sister - but is paramedic Asha in danger? In the preview, Nina and Summer are starting to feel the effects of the LSD ahead of what turns out to be a dramatic night for the duo. As Aadi asks where the cup is, they all head to the kitchen searching high and low for it. As they scan the room and watch every party goer, Summer says: "Everyone seems normal." It's then that they all fear Asha has drunk the LSD before heading to work. The clip ends as Aadi calls his sibling with it not shown if she answers and whether she is the mystery person who has taken the drink. When he knocked her back she threatened him, trying sell her silence by telling him to do as she said or Maria would find out. Gary feared Maria would believe they were having an affair, and was left torn. While Lou's plans were not fully made clear, it's clear Gary was rattled. His stepson Liam Connor can't hide his worry after failing to get in contact with him, and he asks his mum if she knows anything. This annoys Maria further as it's messing Liam around, but where is Gary and why is he not heading straight home? In the preview clip, Maria is shown and heard leaving Gary a message. She pleads with him, telling him that it's fine if he's decided to extend his visit or has other plans but to make sure he lets her know so they don't wonder what's happened. Calling him out, she says: "It's not on. Call me back when you get this." Liam then asks if she's heard from him but reassures him: "I'm sure he'll be back soon." Liam panics saying: "I thought you said he'd be home last night?" Maria reassures him again saying: "Yeah I know, maybe he's just like got his days mixed up or he's missed his train. You know what he's like." As she looks away from Liam she can't hider her own confusion and concern. Meanwhile spoilers for later in the week reveal that Gary does eventually make contact, telling Maria his whereabouts. According to the message he sends her he's decided to stay with a mate but will be home soon. Whether there's more to Gary being AWOL remains to be seen, while it's also not been revealed if Maria will find out about Lou.
