Crow-Armstrong hits his 20th homer but the Brewers outslug the Cubs, 8-7
CHICAGO (AP) — Isaac Collins hit a three-run homer, rookie Caleb Durbin added a two-run drive and the Milwaukee Brewers held off the Chicago Cubs 8-7 on Thursday.
Rhys Hoskins lofted a solo shot, and Christian Yelich, Jackson Chuorio and Joey Ortiz had two hits apiece to help the Brewers close within 5 1/2 games of first-place Chicago in the NL Central.
Pete Crow-Armstrong lined his 20th home run, and Dansby Swanson and Ian Happ also went deep for the Cubs before a season-high crowd of 41,078 on a breezy afternoon at Wrigley Field.
Chicago nearly came back from a five-run deficit, but Trevor Megill worked around a walk in the ninth for his 16th save.
Freddy Peralta (7-4) allowed three runs and two hits in five innings for the win.
Jameson Taillon (7-4) was tagged for five runs and eight hits in four innings after winning his five previous starts.
Crow-Armstrong's line shot to right field in the first gave Chicago a 2-1 lead.
Hoskins' solo drive and Durbin's two-run homer put Milwaukee ahead 4-2 in the second.
The Brewers upped it to 5-2 in the third before Swanson's 14th homer cut it to 5-3 in the fourth.
Collins connected on his second homer in two games in the fifth, extending Milwaukee's lead to 8-3. Happ's two-run drive in the seventh made it 8-5.
The Cubs closed to 8-7 in the eighth, scoring on Carson Kelly's RBI groundout and Nico Hoerner's infield single against reliever Abner Uribe.

Misiorowski perfect into 7th in 2nd career start, Yelich drives in 8 and Brewers beat Twins 17-6
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Jacob Misiorowski took a perfect game into the seventh inning of his second career start, Christian Yelich drove in a career-high and franchise-record eight runs, and the Milwaukee Brewers scored 16 times in the final four innings to beat the Minnesota Twins 17-6 on Friday night. Misiorowski became the first pitcher to start his big league career with 11 consecutive hitless innings as a starter since 1900. He threw five no-hit innings against St. Louis on June 12, but left in the sixth with cramping in his right calf and quadriceps. The 6-foot-7 right-hander struck out six with a fastball topping out at 102.1 mph and a slider and changeup in the mid-90s. Misiorowski (2-0) walked Byron Buxton to start the seventh inning and Matt Wallner followed by lofting an 0-1 pitch into the flower bed above the right field wall. Raleigh homers twice, breaks Bench's record in the Mariners' victory over the Cubs
CHICAGO (AP) — Cal Raleigh broke Johnny Bench's record for home runs by a catcher before the All-Star break, hitting his major league-leading 28th and 29th in the Seattle Mariners' 9-4 victory over the Chicago Cubs on Friday. Raleigh broke a tie in the seventh with No. 29 to move ahead of Hall of Famer Bench's 1970 mark. Raleigh needed only 73 games to break the record that Bench set in 87 games. The Seattle star shattered the mark with 22 games to spare before the All-Star game. Raleigh had three hits in his sixth multi-homer game of the season.
