Randwick-Kensington preview: Strong hand has Ciaron Maher in box seat
The Ciaron Maher stable have a three-pronged attack in the Maiden Plate including two in the market but assistant Sydney trainer Johann Gerard-Dubord isn't dismissing the roughie of the trio.
She Rex heads the stable's charge at the $4.80 second favourite with TAB Fixed Odds behind Charleroi ($2.40) while So Long Farewell is at $8.50 and Cheeky Dancer is the outsider of the field at $31.
She Rex has placed in each of her five career starts and is looking to atone for her last start third as a $2 favourite when third behind Convergent over this track and distance.
'First-up this time was good behind Engine Room and we had the Kensington race as a target because it had an Inglis bonus,' Gerard-Dubord said.

'She found the front but probably could have gone a bit quicker. The horses from the back got momentum on her and she isn't a filly with much of a turn of foot.
'We have Tim Clark back on her who will suit her. He's very good at rating them in front.
'Hopefully she can get that maiden win out of the way shortly.'
So Long Farewell ran well on debut when fourth behind Maori Chief over 1250m here three weeks ago.
The son of Super Seth will take plenty of benefit from the experience and will appreciate stepping up in trip.
'We used that as a starting point for him and he ran a nice race,' he said.
'He was a bit new considering he was there off one trial.
'When they quickened, it took him a bit of time to pick up but the last bit of his race was very good.
'Jason (Collett) was very positive in his feedback and was keen to stick with him which is a good sign.'
Cheeky Dancer may have been beaten at Tamworth last start but was unlucky when going down by a nose.
Prior to that, she worked home well for third behind Pelosa over 1300m at Hawkesbury.
'She had a few issues as a young horse before we got her which is why she hasn't race until now as a four-year-old, said Gerard-Dubord.
'We took her to Tamworth because it was a good prizemoney race.
'When she got out, she got a bump and was only just beaten.
'We are happy with her and she deserves her chance here.'
The stable also has three two-year-olds looking to book a trip to Queensland for the winter carnival.
Ripley and Jenni Gone Bonkers contest the first division of the two-year-old handicap, the Schweppes Handicap (1400m).
Ripley debited with a handy third behind Secure over 1100m at Canterbury on April 21.
'He was very good on a tight track and the 1100m was probably a bit sharp for him,' said Gerard-Dubord.
'Stepping up in trip will be a big positive. That is what he is looking for.
'The give in the track will be no issue to him, the only problem is the barrier. It's a little bit tricky.'
Jenni Gone Bonkers was last of six behind Buffalo in a strong 1200m maiden at Newcastle first-up before a half-length second to Just A Journey at Kembla.
'She was very good last start. The winner controlled the race in front and she kept grinding to the line and just missed,' he said.
'She has drawn well and we are very happy with her.'
Agent Zero can improve off his debut fifth behind Miss Freelove at Canterbury when he steps out in the Broadsiding @ Darley Handicap.
'He is a horse we like but he is still learning and still switching on,' he said.
'He will appreciate the step up in trip.'

Randwick trainer Craig Carmody is enjoying a career best season and can take a step closer a personal milestone with Sizzler on his home turf.
Carmody has a boutique training operation with between 10 and 12 horses in work and has already prepared 10 winners this season at a strike rate of 14.5 per cent along with along with a further 16 placings from 69 runners.
Five of those winners have come from his last starters with Sizzler providing two wins which has taken Carmody to 96 career winners.
'It's been a really good season. We are trying to place them to advantage and make the most of every opportunity,' said Carmody.
'I've got a fantastic team of staff, a couple of really good riders and the horses are all very happy. Hopefully it continues.'
Sizzler ended last campaign with a Class 2 win at Goulburn and has gone to a new level this preparation with two good wins in Benchmark 68 races at Kembla, the latest by two lengths form Presides on April 19.
The five-year-old looks a good chance in the Ole Kirk @ Vinery Stud Handicap (1250m) and moving Carmody a step closer to his 100th career winner.
'I'm really happy with the horse. He has really got his act together and has got a bit of confidence,' Carmody said.
'The races have been set up nicely for him. He's drawn decent barriers and had a nice run off the speed but his acceleration has been really good.
'All the way along, he has been quite an effective horse.
'He was unlucky not to have won on town before. A couple of times in his three-year-old year he was unlucky a few times.
'My only query is the wet track. When you look through his form, he doesn't have the best record on wet ground.
'The track was still quite wet on Tuesday morning but I'm hoping it can improve.
'They will gallop a horse on it at 6.30 on Wednesday morning so I will see how the track is before deciding if he runs or I want until Warwick Farm next week.
'I'm trying to be a bit picky because he is going so well and I want everything to be perfect.
It would be lovely to see him win one in town.'

Murwillumbah preview, tips: Ethan Ensby's Rainbow Lass chases hat-trick
In-form mare Rainbow Lass isn't just chasing a hat-trick of wins, she is on trial for a possible feature race target at next month's Grafton carnival. Following two solid wins over 1000m and 1200m on her home track at Casino, trainer Ethan Ensby feels to time is right to test Rainbow Lass over a longer distance in the Benchmark 58 Handicap (1550m). 'She is going enormous at the moment,' said Ensby. 'She is obviously stepping up to the 1500m for the first time and being by Pariah, she probably isn't bred to get that far but at home, my partner rides her work and she is showing us she is that 1400m to a mile type. 'She sat three-wide working up the hill at Casino over the 1200 metres last start which is like running 1300 or 1400 metres. 'She does like a wet track so the Soft 7 will suit her. My only concerns are the weight, she carriers 58.5kg after Izzy's (Neale) claim, and the gate if she happens to blow the start like she has been known to do. Ensby is looking forward to seeing Mahuika Maroi make her race debut in the Country Boosted Maiden Handicap (1200m). The three-year-old has been safely beaten in both her barrier trials but Ensby said things didn't go as he'd hoped on either occasion. 'When she trialled at the Gold Coast, it was supposed to be on the B Grass but they switched to polytrack which I wasn't very happy about. 'I didn't want to trial on the poly but with the weather the way it was, she had to go around and use it as a bit of a gallop and hope for the best. 'She wasn't put under any pressure that day. 'We then went to Grafton for her next trial and she slipped coming out of the gates on the wet track and tweaked a muscle hence while it's been a while until her first start. 'She finds a really nice race start off in and although the 1200 metres will be short of her best, I think she will run a nice race with the expectation she will be better for it.' Ensby has Shez Mysterious and Gold Puma in the Maiden Handicap (1550m) but is leaning towards splitting the pair and saving the later for either Port Macquarie or Lismore during the week. Shez Mysterious failed on her home track on May 30 but Ensby feels it is worth forgetting that run and judge her on her first two starts. The daughter of So You Think debuted with a fourth to Rainbow Lass on a Heavy 10 at Casino before coming from a conspicuous last when beaten just over a length in fourth place at Inverell on May 23. 'I think the heavy track and the quick back-up went against her last start. She just didn't handle it,' he said. 'I think it would pay to forgive her for that. 'I've given her a bit of time since then and the beauty of training at the farm is it allows me to put her out during the day. 'He first-up run at Casino was encouraging then second-up, she stood like a deer in the headlights in the barrier at Inverell and came out a clear last. 'She really closed of strongly though. Headley Grange has been confidently backed to win the Listed $200,000 Civic Stakes (1400m) at Royal Randwick and Warnie has attracted heavy market support for the Listed $200,000 Eye Liner Stakes (1350m) at Ipswich on Saturday. The Joe Pride -trained Headley Grange, an impressive first-up winner at Randwick two weeks ago, has firmed from $4.60 to $3 favouritism with TAB Fixed Odds while his odds with Ladbrokes have been slashed from $4.50 to $2.90 including bets of $500 at $4.40 and $1000 at $3.10. Warnie, trained by Ciaron Maher, has been a big mover with Ladbrokes punters backing the sprinter from $3.20 to $2.60 favouritism after bets of $900 at $3.20, $1000 at $3.10, $1000 at $3.05, $1000 at $2.90, $2000 and $1000 at $2.85, $1100 and $750 at $2.80 and $780 at $2.70. But this betting plunge pales in comparison with the sheer weight of money invested on Splash Back in the Brian Beattie Handicap (1420m) at Flemington. Grahame Begg 's promising mare has firmed from $2.70 into $1.80 favouritism after Ladbrokes took a string of big bets including six bets of $1180 and four bets of $1000 at $2.70, four bets of $1670 plus $1600, $1100 and four $1000 bets at $2.20, and a $2000 wager at $1.85. Trainer Peter Snowden banking on gear change bringing out best from Xidaki in Eye Liner Stakes
Sydney trainer Peter Snowden hopes another gear change will do the trick for his underperforming gelding Xidaki in the $200,000 Listed Eye Liner Stakes at Ipswich on Saturday. The Ciaron Maher -trained Warnie ($2.40) is definitely the horse to beat in the 1350m race but Xidaki poses a genuine threat if he can rediscover the form that led to his last victory, in the $300,000 Group 3 Winx Guineas (1600m) at Caloundra last July. Snowden decided to put a cross-over nose band on the gelding this campaign because the four-year-old was 'over-racing badly' but the results have been lacklustre. Xidaki finished seventh in the Group 3 Hall Mark Stakes (1200m) at Randwick in April, ninth in the Listed Takeover Target Stakes (1200m) at Gosford on May 10 and seventh in the Group 3 BRC Sprint (1350m) at Doomben two weeks later. He is rated as a $7.50 chance in the Eye Liner Stakes behind Warnie and the Tony Gollan -trained Devastate ($7). 'I've had a cross-over noseband on him this time in because he was struggling last time in and I felt it cost him a couple of races,'' Snowden said. 'But it seems he has been resenting it this preparation because he's been getting too far back in his races. 'So I've taken the noseband off for Saturday and hope he can settle closer in the run. 'Ipswich is a track where you have to stay positive and he has drawn five. I don't want him to get too far back from there. 'I'm confident he has the tactical speed to be in the first five or six in the run. 'He's going great at home and I can't believe he won't be running well on what he has been showing me in his trackwork.' Lindsay Park star War Machine emphatically won the BRC Sprint before impressively taking out the $3m Stradbroke Handicap (1400m) three weeks later at Eagle Farm. Xidaki crossed the winning post almost five lengths behind War Machine in the BRC Sprint but on the bright side, Snowden was pleased with how his galloper hit the line. 'He got too far back last start and had a lot of work to do but he was one of those finishing hardest late,'' Snowden said. 'The horse that won it (War Machine) went on to win the Stradbroke Handicap. 'If he can hold his spot on Saturday it will go a long way to helping his chances at Ipswich.'' It will also comfort Snowden knowing that Xidaki was a narrow runner-up to Ostraka in the $1m Group 3 Silver Eagle (1300m) at Randwick last October but finished ahead of the Ben, Will and JD Hayes -trained War Machine. It's fair to say that Snowden is due for some luck in this Queensland winter carnival. His mare Tashi has twice just missed the chocolates - in the Listed Helen Coughlan Stakes (1200m) and Group 2 Dane Ripper Stakes (1300m) - while the appropriately named gelding Need Some Luck finished half a length behind winner Compelling Truth in the Listed Hinkler Handicap (1200m) last Saturday at Eagle Farm.
