Amanda Holden shares daughter's common outfit criticism

Daily Mirror11-06-2025

Amanda Holden says there is one thing that her daughter Lexi can say about her outfit that will make her go and change immediately
Amanda Holden has disclosed that a sharp five-word critique from her daughter about her style is all it takes to make her reconsider her wardrobe choice.
Known for her bold outfit choices on Britain's Got Talent, Amanda's most controversial outfit reportedly drew over 600 viewer complaints to regulatory body Ofcom, reports Devon Live.

The 54-year-old says there is a team of people who examine what she wears before she steps on stage. Amanda, however, insists the TV talent show is the "perfect opportunity to take risks".

Despite this, she says there are moments of indecision, confessing that after her stylist presents "rails and rails" of potential outfits, she frequently chooses one, only to switch moments later.
Amanda, who shares her home with her husband Chris Hughes and daughters Lexi, 19, and Hollie, 12, acknowledges that their opinions matter to her. Revealing to the Sun's TV magazine, she said: "My daughters normally love my outfits, but Lexi is quite critical, like her daddy."
She shares a common exchange with them: "I'm like, 'Do you like this?' And she'll say: 'No!' But it doesn't change my mind if somebody doesn't like my outfit - if I think it's great, I'll wear it."
Amanda admits there's one type of feedback from her eldest that will prompt an immediate costume change: "Though if Lexi says: 'It makes you look old' then I listen to that."
Amanda and her co-judge, Alesha Dixon, faced a furore over their choice of attire at the Britain's Got Talent final last week, with Ofcom receiving 72 gripes for outfits deemed "too revealing for a family show".

Back in July 2017, Amanda turned heads and sparked debate when she donned a daring Julien Macdonald number, which later became the year's most controversial TV topic.
The mother of two wryly dubbed it a 'national crisis' at the time.

Chatting with Closer magazine, Amanda quipped: "I'm always asked about the Ofcom complaints, but every outfit on the show is checked before I leave my dressing room, so I'm never worried. I think people should have fun with fashion!"
Not stopping there, she explained: "I had bits of fish wire underneath my breasts trying to hold that together... It's all quite laughable, but all everyone seems to talk about. It's been called another national crisis – but oh no, I will not be covered up."
Amanda is unapologetic about her desire to "always look good", asserting: "There's no way I'd step out in my pyjamas or rock up without a lash. To preserve my own sense of dignity, I always try to look good."
Last week saw the curtains close on Britain's Got Talent, with Harry Moulding clinching the title amid stiff competition. Despite an electrifying performance from The Blackout, it was Harry who charmed his way into the nation's hearts and secured the most votes.

Taking to X, one fan fumed: "Hold on is Megan wearing latex? The same latex she hounded Yasmin for #LoveIsland". Another added: "They slagged her off when she was in the hideaway, the next morning, repeatedly called her boring, said she wasn't even good looking, called her fake and a game player, made fun of her for wearing a latex dress, repeatedly made fun of her around the fire pit in the game." This comes after a tense exchange between Meg and Yasmin made fans threaten to call Ofcom, accusing the girls of 'ganging up.' Advertisement Fans watched on as Yasmin snogged two of the boys in the villa during a game of beer pong. Yasmin's first snog occurred with Dejon, who is coupled up with Meg, but he was tasked with snogging the Islander he found most attractive, aside from his partner. He went straight over to Yasmin as Meg watched on, and snogged her. Later on in the game, Yasmin ended up snogging Harry too, despite being coupled up with Shea. The threats of Ofcom come as Meg said to Yasmin in front of the group: 'Wait, how can you still be happy in your couple if you're snogging everyone but the man you're coupled up with?' Love Island bombshell Yasmin slammed as 'game-player' as she throws villa into chaos by snogging Harry AND Dejon before row with the girls Yasmin fired back: 'It's just a game,' to which Meg responded: 'But you're saying you're happy in your couple.' Things were obviously tense between the ladies, as Yasmin backed her reasoning, responding: 'Everyone's playing the games way too safe and you're here to explore connections and to take risks.' Advertisement Not backing down, Meg added: 'I know it's a game, but you got asked if you're happy in your couple and you said yes, and you've not once kissed your man. Don't think you're happy in your couple.' Yasmin ended the chat by saying: 'That's your opinion,' as the other Islanders watched on. Taking to X, one person wrote: 'Can the girls stop going at Yasmin… OFCOM! #LoveIsland.' A second penned: 'Ofcom complaint being filed for the witches coven bullying Yasmin #LoveIsland.' Antiques Road Trip star opens up on daughter's heartbreaking health battle and family 'struggle'

BBC Antiques Road Trip star Phillip Serrell said daughter Clementine's battle has been 'difficult' and 'hard to understand' Antiques Road Trip star Philip Serrell has opened up about his daughter's heartbreaking battle with anorexia. The BBC expert has been open and honest in the past about Clementine's health struggles, despite finding it hard to understand at first. Now that she's in recovery, Clementine wants to raise awareness and support others who are facing the same challenges she's experienced. ‌ Phillip shared his own struggles to comprehend what she was going through. He said: 'A s a dad, it's been very difficult, I've found it very hard to understand. ‌ "I've spent 62 years enjoying eating and it's very hard not to say 'Just eat, it's easy'." He also reflected on the progress his daughter made, admitting she's 'come through this on her own'. But Phillip candidly admitted his family are not out of the woods yet, and there are still tough situations to navigate. He added: 'Christmas a very difficult time of year because people suffering with anorexia get booze and food shoved at them - and that's very hard to deal with." Phillip's daughter first stepped into the public spotlight with her journey back in 2020 when she took to social media to post a comparison image of herself. In one of the pictures, she was at the height of the devastating illness, and in the second recent snap, she looked happier and healthier and working towards healing, as reports Devon Live. ‌ Brave Clementine aimed to empower others with her words, and said: "Never think you can't escape." She then went on to detail her battles with anorexia and bulimia, explaining she thinks the catalyst was the end of a significant relationship. She believes the internal turmoil led to feeling disassociated from her life. She disclosed that in 2011, she made herself vomit 'about eight times' on New Year's Eve, waking up on New Year's Day "full of shame and utter self loathing". The next year, she started suffering from anorexia. ‌ Join the Daily Record WhatsApp community! Get the latest news sent straight to your messages by joining our WhatsApp community today. She went on: "That was the worst year, and Christmas, ever. It was just pure hell, with no escape. I was TOTALLY consumed by the eating disorder, addicted to it, addicted to counting calories and 'burning off' what I could. I weighed EVERYTHING. I counted the calories in EVERYTHING. I hated what I'd become but I was petrified of giving up that addiction." She said her journey to recovery has felt painfully slow at times as she added: "After a long, and at times sooooo painfully slow, recovery I'm here, where I am now... I will always talk about eating disorders, and I'll always be honest. I don't post things like this for any praise or anything like that but to show others that you can get your life back." ‌ She said she is now committed to raising awareness about eating disorders. She went on: "I will always talk about eating disorders, and I'll always be honest. I don't post things like this for any praise or anything like that but to show others that you can get your life back. And also because I genuinely believe EDs are still very misunderstood and that kills me a bit. 'This is a hard time to go through, especially if you have an eating disorder but know that there can be life on the other side. And know that you really are strong enough to get there."
