Indian delegation in Ireland to attend 40th anniversary memorial of Kanishka bombing
Dublin [Ireland], June 23 (ANI): A high-level Indian delegation led by Union Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Hardeep Singh Puri along with BJP National General Secretary Tarun Chugh, and representatives from five states, has arrived in Ireland, to participate in the 40th anniversary memorial of the Air India Kanishka bombing.
The commemoration will take place at the Ahakista Memorial in Cork on Sunday.
The delegation includes prominent elected representatives, including Arvinder Singh Lovely (Delhi MLA), Baldev Singh Aulakh (Minister from Uttar Pradesh), Gurveer Singh Brar (MLA from Rajasthan), Trilok Singh Cheema (MLA from Uttarakhand), and Narinder Singh Raina (MLA from Jammu and Kashmir).
The solemn memorial service will be attended by Ireland's Prime Minister, Micheal Martin, Canada's Minister of Public Safety, Gary Anandasangaree, and several other international dignitaries.
This event not only commemorates the 329 innocent victims of the 1985 terror attack but also reinforces the global commitment against terrorism.
In a post on X, Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri said, 'On the way from Heathrow to Cork...The dastardly mid air bombing of Air India Kanishka Flight 182 in 1985 which claimed 329 innocent lives off the Irish Coast remains one of the most inhuman acts of terror in aviation history.I was able to pay tribute to the victims at the Kanishka Memorial at Humber Bay Park in Toronto in September 2019 where I also met family members of several victims who had shared their pain and suffering.'

As I stand on Irish soil, I pay my heartfelt tribute to those who perished, and reaffirm our resolve to unite against terror in all its forms.' (ANI)

New Delhi [India], June 22 (ANI): Foreign Affairs Expert Robinder Sachdev on Sunday described the US strikes on three Iranian nuclear facilities as an escalation to the week old Israel-Iran conflict, warning that the situation is likely to deteriorate further. His comments come in the wake of recent US airstrikes targeting three key Iranian nuclear facilities, including Fordow, Iran's main enrichment location for uranium enrichment to 60 per cent. 'This is an escalation, and it seems there will be no end; the situation will worsen, go up and down. It seems that the region of the Middle East will now be plunged into Forever Wars... Iran will fight back with whatever resources it has. It will retaliate. However, it doesn't have much capacity, but it will still attempt to do its best,' he told ANI. Sachdev said that US President Donald Trump's claim of eliminating the entire nuclear programme of Iran is 'wrong'. 'Donald Trump is correct in saying that tonight's attack was a spectacular attack by the American Armed forces, but he is wrong in saying that this attack has eliminated the entire nuclear programme of Iran; it has not...... The Iranians have already trandffered Uranium though it is not weapon grade but whatever enriched uranium they had, it seems they have distributed and hidden in some other locations but yes, a major blow to Iran's nuclear programme has been delivered but it does not mean that the entire nuclear programme of Iran has been obliterated,' he added. He further said that Iran's attempt to close the Strait of Hormuz could lead India to suffer, as according to him, about 20 per cent of the world's crude oil and 25 per cent of the world's natural gas flow through one of the world's most important oil chokepoints located between Oman and Iran, connecting the Persian Gulf with the Gulf of Oman and the Arabian Sea. After Northrop Grumman-made B-2 Spirit bombers struck nuclear facilities in Natanz, Isfahan and Fordow, Trump, in his first public remarks, warned that he could order further action if Tehran does not agree to a satisfactory peace agreement. In his address to the nation from the White House on Saturday (local time), Trump said, 'There will be either peace or there will be tragedy for Iran, far greater than we've witnessed over the last eight days.' In a Truth Social post, Trump said, 'This cannot continue. There will be either peace or there will be a tragedy for Iran far greater than we have witnessed over the last eight days. Remember, there are many targets left. Tonight's was the most difficult of them all, by far, and perhaps the most lethal. But if peace does not come quickly, we will go after those other targets with precision, speed and skill.' Trump also thanked Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and said, 'I want to thank Prime Minister Bibi Netanyahu. "Rahul Gandhi does not know Make in India...should do some homework": Maharashtra CM Fadnavis
Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], June 23 (ANI): Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis criticised Congress leader and Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, saying he lacks knowledge about India's economic progress and the 'Make in India' initiative. Fadnavis accused Gandhi of being uninformed about India's manufacturing sector and economic growth. He credited PM Modi with transforming India's economy, citing its rise to the 5th largest economy globally. 'Rahul Gandhi does not know Make in India, he does not know what is manufactured in our country. He may not even know that India's economy was at the 11th rank during their government, and PM Modi made India the 4th largest economy in 10 years. We will become the 3rd largest economy in the next two years. Rahul Gandhi should do some homework,' said Fadnavis. This comes after Rahul Gandhi criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the effectiveness of the 'Make in India.' He emphasised that India's economic growth is not inclusive, with wealth concentrated in the hands of a few billionaires while farmers, labourers, and the middle class struggle. Rahul Gandhi called for economic reforms, advocating for an economy that works for every Indian, not just a few capitalists and pointed out declining sales of two-wheelers, cars, and mobile phones as evidence of economic struggles faced by common Indians. In a post on X, Rahul Gandhi shared a video and wrote, 'Make in India' promised a factory boom. So why is manufacturing at record lows, youth unemployment at record highs, and why have imports from China more than doubled? Modi ji has mastered the art of slogans, not solutions. Since 2014, manufacturing has fallen to 14% of our economy.' He highlighted the challenges faced by India's youth, sharing in a post that he met two talented young men, Shivam and Saif, in Nehru Place, New Delhi, who remain unable to fulfil their potential. He criticised the country's current economic model and said, 'In Nehru Place, New Delhi, I met Shivam and Saif - bright, skilled, full of promise - yet denied the opportunity to fulfil it. The truth is stark: we assemble, we import, but we don't build. China profits.' He said that Prime Minister Modi has no new ideas and has given up on growing India's industries. He added that even the important PLI scheme is being quietly stopped. Gandhi called for big changes to help Indian producers with honest reforms and financial support, warning that if India doesn't build its industries, it will keep buying from other countries. 'With no new ideas, Modi ji has surrendered. Even the much-hyped PLI scheme is now being quietly rolled back. India needs a fundamental shift - one that empowers lakhs of producers through honest reforms and financial support. We must stop being a market for others. K'taka Minister Priyank Kharge questions MEA's "U-turn" on his US visit; claims loss of investment opportunities
Bengaluru (Karnataka) [India], June 22 (ANI): Karnataka Minister Priyank Kharge questioned the Centre on Sunday for its 'U-turn' on its decision to grant him approval to visit the United States, claiming that the delay in approval has led to loss of investment opportunities for the state. Kharge alleged that the MEA's decision is politics being played by Opposition-ruled states. 'This question should be asked to the MEA. Why did they deny the delegation led by me, and why are they allowing it now? What was wrong then and what is right now?...We were supposed to be there from 13th June, and it is 21st already. Do you think World Expos and World Trade exhibitions will wait for us?' Kharge told ANI. The state minister said that Karnataka is 'one of the biggest economic growth engines' for the country, making it important to seek investments too. He alleged that while certain southern states are driving the GDP of the country, they are also facing problems. 'The politics being played is also to be explained by the MEA not by me. (This is) denying us the right to seek investments and create jobs, we are one of the biggest economic growth engines for the country... if we don't get to go abroad and seek investments, have you seen UP or Bihar CM going to get investment? It is always Karnataka, Telangana, Tamil Nadu - we are the ones who are driving 50% of the GDP of the country and you (central Govt) doing such things is of no use to anybody,' the state minister said. On Saturday, the Congress leader had posted on X demanding an explanation for denying him permission to visit US and represent Karnataka in various global forums and official meetings. He said that he had submitted his request for travelling to US from June 14 since May 15, but was rejected without an explanation. His post read, 'So in a U-turn, the Ministry of External Affairs has now decided to revoke its earlier decision and grant me a clearance for an official visit to the United States. I had sought permission on 15 May to travel between 14-27 June to represent the Government of Karnataka at two major global forums and over 25 official meetings with top companies, universities and institutions for collaborations and pitch for application was denied without any official explanation.' He explained that the application for the minister and his delegation was submitted on May 15, which was later rejected on June 4. Kharge added that an application for the officer delegation without the minister was submitted on June 6, and it got clearance on June 11. (ANI)
