Jordan's tourism revenue records $3.1 billion in five months
Ammon News - Tourism revenues increased by 17.5% in May 2025, reaching $630.0 million, and recorded a 15.7% increase during the first five months of 2025, reaching $3 billion and 57.3 million.
This increase is due to a 20.6% increase in the number of tourists, according to a preliminary data issued by the Central bank of Jordan (CBJ).
The data showed an increase in tourism income from all nationalities, including Jordanian expatriates by 3.8%, European nationalities 29.5%, Americans 20.7%, Arabs 16.9%, and other nationalities 42.1%.
Additionally, the data also showed an 11.1% increase in spending on tourism abroad during May 2025, reaching $158.3 million, and a 12.5% increase during the first five months of 2025, reaching $804.2 million.

"Jordan's airspace briefly closed twice Sunday, no threat to safety," says official
Jordan's airspace experienced two brief closures on Sunday morning due to increased aerial activity in the region, according to Captain Haitham Misto, Chief Commissioner of the Civil Aviation Regulatory Commission (CARC), in a statement to Roya. One of the closures lasted just 11 minutes before flight operations resumed as normal. Misto emphasized that air traffic in Jordanian skies is managed through a precise methodology based on continuous risk assessment to ensure the highest levels of aviation safety, in full coordination with military and security authorities. "We monitor the airspace around the clock. When any activity poses a threat to aviation safety, an appropriate decision is made to partially or fully close the airspace temporarily," he said. On Saturday, more than 400 civilian aircraft passed through Jordan's airspace, including inbound, outbound, and overflying flights. The daily number of travelers is estimated at around 16,000. Misto added that the commission maintains close civil-military coordination in line with international standards and cooperates regionally with counterpart agencies to ensure smooth air traffic and keep Jordan's skies safe and open to air navigation. He concluded by stressing that 'aviation safety is a top priority, and we have effective tools to make timely decisions to protect our airspace, citizens, and travelers.'

Committee approves JD719,000 in rural electricity projects for 186 sites
Ammon News - The Higher Steering Committee for the Rural Fils, chaired by Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Saleh Kharabsheh, on Sunday approved a list of 186 homes and sites to be connected to the electrical grid through conventional networks during May, at an estimated cost of JD719,000. Kharabsheh said the committee had endorsed several projects and locations for grid connection under the Rural Fils framework, including residential communities and economic activities, following amendments to the guidelines governing electricity connections financed by the Rural Fils. Hisham Momani, Director of the Electricity and Rural Electrification Directorate at the Ministry, detailed the approved allocations. They include JD179,000 for residential clusters of five homes located outside planning boundaries, and JD114,000 for clusters of at least three homes in similar areas. Additionally, JD52,000 was approved for individual homes outside planning zones benefiting from existing infrastructure. A portion of the funding, amounting to JD10,000, was allocated to support homes of low-income families situated within planning boundaries and electricity company concession areas. This reflects the Ministry's commitment to social support and equitable access to energy. Productive projects in poverty pockets outside planning areas such as poultry, cattle, sheep, and fish farms received JD73,000 in funding. These efforts align with national goals to support farmers, bolster livestock production, and enhance food security and self-reliance. The approved list also includes JD40,000 to illuminate roads leading to cemeteries, facilitating nighttime burials. A further JD153,000 was allocated to support productive, industrial, and investment ventures in underserved areas, contingent on the creation of local employment opportunities. Momani added that JD59,000 was designated to electrify farms containing artesian wells outside planning boundaries, with the aim of supporting agricultural sustainability. An additional JD39,000 was allocated to projects serving government entities, agricultural cooperatives, and charitable associations.
