Falcon-H1 language model to be offered as NVIDIA NIM Microservice

ABU DHABI (ALETIHAD) The Technology Innovation Institute (TII), a leading global research centre headquartered in Abu Dhabi, has announced that its next-generation open-source language model, Falcon-H1, will be available as a NVIDIA Inference Microservice (NIM), a move that significantly enhances the model's enterprise deployment potential.Launched in parallel with NVIDIA's GTC showcase in Paris, the initiative positions Falcon-H1 for immediate integration across cloud, on-premise and hybrid environments, a statement from TII said. The availability of Falcon-H1 on NIM will enable developers to deploy it with production-grade performance, bypassing the need for complex infrastructure customisation.'Falcon-H1's availability on NVIDIA NIM reflects our ongoing leadership in shaping the future of open, sovereign, and cross-domain deployment-ready AI. It demonstrates that breakthrough innovation from our region is not only competitive on the global stage – it's setting new benchmarks for scalable, secure, and enterprise-ready AI,' said Dr. Najwa Aaraj, CEO of TII.Falcon-H1 is built on an innovative hybrid Transformer–Mamba architecture, blending the efficiency of state space models (SSMs) with the advanced reasoning power of Transformer networks. This design supports context windows of up to 256,000 tokens, enabling long-context reasoning and high-speed inference with reduced memory overhead. Its multilingual design ensures competitive performance across both high- and low-resource languages.According to Dr. Hakim Hacid, Chief AI Researcher at TII, 'Falcon-H1's availability on NVIDIA NIM bridges the gap between cutting-edge model design and real-world operability. It combines our hybrid architecture with the performance and reliability of NVIDIA microservices. Developers can integrate Falcon-H1 optimised for long-context reasoning, multilingual versatility, and real-world applications. What once required weeks of infrastructure tuning becomes achievable in minutes at scale, with multilingual depth, and production resilience.'The integration with NVIDIA's NeMo microservices and AI Blueprints adds full lifecycle tooling for tasks such as data curation, safety guardrails, and post-deployment optimisation. This makes Falcon-H1 a fit for regulated and latency-sensitive AI deployments, further enhancing its credentials as a sovereign AI solution.
With over 55 million downloads, the Falcon model family is among the most widely adopted open-source AI efforts from the Middle East. 20 June 2025 19:26 ABU DHABI (ALETIHAD)Made possible through the generous support of the United Arab Emirates, Hedayah — the International Center of Excellence for Countering Extremism and Violent Extremism — launched a new research brief examining how Artificial Intelligence (AI) may be responsibly leveraged to support terrorism prevention efforts, as the use of AI grows across all sectors of report, 'Artificial Intelligence for Counter Extremism'', underlines that while terrorist exploitation of AI remains largely experimental at present, it is expected to grow and adapt over time. The report offers a balanced, evidence-based analysis of both the risks associated with AI misuse and the opportunities it presents to strengthen counter-extremism from a review of 52 academic publications and insights from five expert roundtables involving stakeholders from government, academia, the tech industry and civil society, the research maps out the evolving landscape of AI-enabled extremism and corresponding policy its key findings, the report notes that extremists are already testing AI tools such as multilingual translation, content adaptation, and deepfake technology to spread disinformation and accelerate radicalisation. While much of the existing research focuses on predicting future threats, there has been less emphasis on understanding current applications of AI and its role in eroding public trust within the broader information the prevention side, AI's use has primarily centred on content moderation. However, Hedayah identifies broader opportunities, including improved strategic communications and enhanced messaging campaigns aimed at fostering social resilience against extremist ideologies. The report also flags a pressing need to address systemic biases in AI systems, warning that such disparities risk marginalising already vulnerable communities and exacerbating social support effective and ethical deployment of AI in counter-extremism, Hedayah recommends promoting greater diversity within AI development teams to ensure inclusive design. It calls for prioritising 'safety by design' and integrating human oversight into AI processes. The report advocates for robust collaboration between sectors and disciplines to ensure diverse perspectives are incorporated and urges the inclusion of AI literacy in broader media literacy programmes. It also recommends a continuous monitoring approach to AI trends and threats, coupled with proportionate, evidence-based risk assessments that avoid both alarmism and Al Qasimi, Executive Director of Hedayah, underscored the importance of embracing the opportunities presented by AI technology.'Generative AI is a powerful tool - we must focus on harnessing it wisely to prevent radicalisation, enhance safety, and counter extremism.' He added: 'This moment also calls for bold and purposeful collaboration between the tech sector, policymakers, and civil society to ensure AI becomes a force for reducing extremism and violent extremism globally.'Emphasising the urgency of timely action, Anna Sherburn, Deputy Executive Director of Hedayah, noted: 'Our findings show that although terrorist use of AI is still in its early stages, the risk is growing as the technology becomes more widely accessible. The time to act is now - not with panic, but with clear purpose.' She continued: 'Hedayah's AI report helps to shift the conversation. Instead of only asking 'what could go wrong with AI?', we ask 'what could go right?' if we design responsibly, collaborate strategically, and build trust across all sectors.' TRENDS hosts symposium exploring prospects for China-Middle East relations
20 June 2025 10:45 ABU DHABI (ALETIHAD) TRENDS Research & Advisory, through its Virtual Office in China, kicked off its participation in the 31st edition of the Beijing International Book Fair 2025 by organising a research symposium titled 'Prospects for China–Middle East Relations in Light of Global Transformations', held at the centre's booth at the China National Convention in the seminar—moderated by Farida Bai Yi Nan, Head of the Arabic Language Department at China Today magazine—discussed the role of the Belt and Road Initiative in enhancing Arab–Chinese economic integration, the opportunities and domains of cultural and educational cooperation between China and Arab countries, China's position on key Middle Eastern issues, and how Chinese intellectual elites perceive partnerships with Gulf and Arab Jiyuan, a researcher at the Centre for Arab Studies at Zhejiang International Studies University, emphasised that cultural cooperation is a vital component in China–Arab relations. She noted that the exchange of knowledge and culture between China and Arab nations has reached a solid level. For example, over 48 universities in China teach the Arabic language, and enthusiasm for learning Chinese is rising across the Arab world. The UAE and Saudi Arabia have both incorporated Chinese into their national education curricula, and there are currently more than 20 Confucius Institutes across the Middle Al Shehhi, Senior Researcher and Deputy Head of the Scientific Research Sector at TRENDS, stated that China–Arab relations represent a unique model of civilisational interaction, merging the authenticity of tradition with future aspirations for prosperity. What unites Arab nations and China, he said, is a shared vision for a prosperous future that does not come at the expense of history or cultural Shehhi added that recent years have witnessed significant developments in bilateral relations—not only in trade but also in deep cultural and educational cooperation, which serves as the cornerstone of building bridges of mutual understanding between pointed out that it is impossible to speak of Sino–Arab cooperation without mentioning the UAE model, as the UAE is not only China's top trading partner in the Middle East and North Africa, but also the most advanced in cultural collaboration. The UAE has announced investments totaling $10 billion in joint cultural and educational projects with China over the next ten Yuxin, a researcher at the Institute of African Studies at Zhejiang Normal University, explained that both the UAE and China are committed to playing positive roles in achieving peace and defusing regional and global conflicts—especially in the Middle East, a region of central importance to the entire world. Yang added that China is the top trading partner of the UAE, while the UAE is the largest market for Chinese exports and a key investment destination for China in the Middle East. In recent years, cooperation in renewable energy, photovoltaic power plants, and wind energy has witnessed significant growth. The UAE is also the primary destination for Chinese tourists in the region, with more than one million tourists last year, alongside over 100 Chinese schools in the UAE—further enhancing educational and cultural exchange.
