Rock star's 'awful' date with Melissa Joan Hart led to finding love with his wife

Fox News07-04-2025

Blink-182 bassist and singer Mark Hoppus didn't have a magical evening with Melissa Joan Hart.
In an excerpt from his new memoir, "Fahrenheit-182," shared with Entertainment Weekly, Hoppus recalled meeting the "Sabrina, the Teenage Witch" star at the Teen Choice Awards, "and she must've found me interesting because she had her publicist reach out to my label's publicist to give me her number. Totally normal courtship."
Hoppus admitted he tried to be cool and use "Hollywood industry jargon" but realized it probably didn't impress her because she "had been famous for years."
The pair went on a date for sushi, but Hoppus didn't feel like they were clicking.
"It was an awful date. She was very nice, but we weren't connecting. Everything in her life revolved around acting, and it was hard to relate to her about anything else," he wrote.
He said when he asked about what kind of food she liked besides sushi, she said she mostly eats what's available on set. When he asked about what she liked to read, she said she mostly read scripts for work.
"And I'm sure from her perspective, all I could talk about was music. We just weren't a great match. It was tough," Hoppus said.
After the dinner, Hart invited him back to her home, but he ended up calling it an early night so he could be ready for a music video shoot in the morning.
When he got back to his hotel room, he had a voicemail from Skye Everly, an MTV booker, asking him to call her.
Hoppus returned the call, and "some light pleasantries quickly turned into deep conversation. We talked about everything."
"We talked for so long that the sun came up and we realized we'd talked all night."
The "All the Small Things" singer married Everly in 2000, and welcomed their son, Jack, two years later.
Hart went on to marry musician Mark Wilkerson in 2003, and welcomed three sons, Mason, Braydon, and Tucker.
Representatives for Hart and Hoppus did not immediately return Fox News Digital's request for comment.
"Fahrenheit-182" is available April 8.

James Gunn Deleted 'Superman' Scene After Social Media Reaction

If you ever think your social media feedback goes unnoticed, Superman director and DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn proved otherwise. While it's uncommon for a movie director to take note of fan feedback from a trailer or movie clip that's released, Gunn is apparently the outlier. The highly anticipated movie has released several clips and different trailers before its July 11 release date, but one specific moment caught the eye of fans. During an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Gunn was asked about the clip of David Corenswet, who portrays Superman, flying, which social media believed was a "CG superimposed thing." To his credit, the Superman director admitted the clip "kind of got by" him and was meant as a TV commercial. "It was a TV commercial and it wasn't a finished visual effects shot. So the part of him flying, it was a photograph of his face and him flying," Gunn explained. "It was a photograph of a drone flying in front of an actual background. So all the pieces were real, but it was incorporated in kind of a funky way." "I didn't love the shot, so it's not even the shot that's in the movie. Sometimes I'm pretty strict about when I'm going through a trailer and looking at each of the shots, but sometimes the commercials, I forget to look at this closely. So that one kind of got by me." Screen Rant revealed the moment referenced in the interview: While it's unlikely that Gunn was combing through social media responses, he seemed fully aware of the fan reactions to the moment. Whether that clip would be cut from the film regardless or would have been included is unknown, but the reactions to it were noteworthy, and Gunn seemed to realize as much. To Gunn's credit, with every Superman trailer or clip that surfaced, the intrigue and hype around the upcoming film have continued to intensify. The early prospects point to Superman having tremendous success at the box office, but we'll know for sure in the coming Gunn Deleted 'Superman' Scene After Social Media Reaction first appeared on Men's Journal on Jun 19, 2025

James Gunn Offers Update on DC's PARADISE LOST Series and It's Connection to WONDER WOMAN Movie — GeekTyrant

DC fans eager to revisit Themyscira, you're in luck, DC Studios is still developing its Paradise Lost series. The show is set on Wonder Woman's mythic island home, and in a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, DC Studios co-chief James Gunn gave a small but welcome update on the project and how it fits into the broader DCU, especially when it comes to the newly revealed Wonder Woman movie. 'Paradise Lost is moving along. It's slow-moving, but it's moving. And, yeah, I really love that project a lot.' When asked whether the series is connected to the upcoming Wonder Woman film, Gunn got a little… well, Gunn-ish: 'Yes. Well, yes and no. Wonder Woman's a separate thing. We're working on Wonder Woman. Wonder Woman's being written right now. So it's different. I mean, not different. They're connected. She's from f—ing Themyscira, so…' What we do know is that Paradise Lost is still coming, even if it won't feature Diana at all. It's meant to take place long before her birth and will explore the politics, power struggles, and mythology of Themyscira itself. Gunn has previously described the show as a kind of DCU-flavored Game of Thrones , a political fantasy thriller set in a paradise that isn't as peaceful as it looks. The show was originally announced in January 2023 as part of the first slate of the DCU reboot, and it's believed to take inspiration from the Paradise Island Lost comic arc by Phil Jimenez and George Pérez. While the creative teams for Paradise Lost and the untitled Wonder Woman movie haven't been revealed, Gunn did confirm for the first time that 'Wonder Woman's being written right now.' With Superman set to launch the new DCU on July 11th, all eyes are now on how the rest of the slate will take shape, including when we'll finally set foot on Themyscira again. Until then, we wait.

James Gunn Explains His Social Media Activity and Why He Still Shoots Down DC Rumors — GeekTyrant

DC Studios co-head James Gunn seems to spend a lot of time on social media engaging with fans online, but he admits that his approach to debunking rumors has changed, mostly because it's become a tiresome game of whack-a-mole. Gunn told Entertainment Weekly: 'There are a couple of people, specifically, who have pretty large followings who just consistently put out false stories, just one after the other after the other, 95 percent of the time. 'Maybe once out of every 20 times, they say something that has some slight or partial basis in reality. And it gets to be old. 'I'm not sure, some of those people, that I'm not actually helping them in a certain way by debunking them, because you're giving them traffic, which I always do, but I think they like it. So I mostly quit.' Despite 'mostly quitting,' Gunn made it clear he'll still step in when it matters, especially when misinformation has the potential to hurt someone involved in a project. He explained: 'But every once in a while, there's a story that gets out of hand quickly, that has the possibility of hurting someone's feelings. 'For instance, if there's a director we're talking to about a project and all of a sudden it comes out a story that so-and-so other director who has nothing to do with anything is doing this project, you want to kill that pretty quickly because it's not true. 'Same thing with actors or whomever. So if people's feelings are at stake and there's something that's getting out of hand, I'll shut it down.' Gunn, who previously made X his main social media stomping ground, has since shifted much of his fan engagement to Threads, where he still occasionally drops quick replies or clears up speculation. While it may seem like he's constantly online, he clarified that his social media is a team effort. 'Listen, a lot of my social networking is done by other people. It's always me, it's always my words, but a lot of times there's other people that are posting it. And a lot of other times, other people are bringing me questions offline from online, and I'll answer them and send them those answers.' As for when you might catch Gunn actively responding in real-time? Just look for a burst of activity every few weeks. 'You can see when I'm actually doing that, because there'll be like five, six answers in a row about once every three weeks.' Noting it usually happens when he's stuck in a car or on a long flight. So, while Gunn's hands are full with building a cinematic universe, he's still keeping one eye on the rumor mill and stepping in to set things straight when he feels he needs to.
