Dozens of civilians killed across Gaza as Israeli attacks target homes and aid seekers
Israeli forces killed at least 21 Palestinians and wounded dozens more on Monday in a series of air strikes and shootings across the Gaza Strip, including areas where civilians had gathered to receive humanitarian aid, according to Wafa news agency.
According to local sources, four civilians were killed and others wounded when Israeli warplanes targeted a house in Jabalia al-Balad, in the north of the enclave.
In the south, Israeli troops opened fire near an aid distribution centre northwest of Rafah, killing 10 people. Witnesses said large crowds had gathered in the area to collect much-needed food and supplies.

Iran launches missiles towards US bases in Qatar
Iran said it launched a "devastating and powerful" missile attack at the United States' Al-Udeid base in Qatar on Monday, in retaliation for the US strikes on their nuclear facilities over the weekend. Eyewitnesses reported to Middle East Eye seeing blasts from across Doha. Video footage shared with MEE showed missiles flying above the gleaming skyscrapers and marina of the Qatari capital. In another video, air defence systems appeared to be engaging the missiles. Qatar's Al Jazeera news network cited the defence minister as saying that Qatari air defence systems intercepted missiles fired at Al-Udeid and aired footage of fallen debris assumed to be from a missile interception. "The State of Qatar strongly condemns the attack that targeted Al-Udeid Air Base by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard. We consider this a flagrant violation of the sovereignty of the State of Qatar, its airspace, international law and the United Nations Charter," Qatari's foreign ministry spokesman Majed Al-Ansari said. New MEE newsletter: Jerusalem Dispatch Sign up to get the latest insights and analysis on Israel-Palestine, alongside Turkey Unpacked and other MEE newsletters His statement called for an "immediate cessation of all military actions and for a serious return to the negotiating table", adding that "the State of Qatar was one of the first countries to warn against the dangers of Israeli escalation in the region". There were no casualties or injuries to Qatari armed forces or "friendly forces" from the attack, the statement added. Qatar is home to the US's Al-Udeid military base, which hosts roughly 10,000 soldiers and serves as the regional headquarters for US Central Command (CENTCOM). CENTCOM directs US military operations across territory stretching from Egypt to Kazakhstan. At least 10 missiles were launched towards Qatar from Iran and at least one missile was launched towards Iraq, according to a report by Axios. Reuters reported that an air defence system was also activated at the US's Ain al-Asad airbase in Iraq and Tasnim News Agency, an Iranian state-run outlet, said that both Qatar and Iraq were targets of the retaliation. Earlier, before the reports of an attack, Qatar had temporarily closed its airspace. This is a developing story.

Israel hits Iran's Evin prison, says strikes on Tehran are biggest yet
Israel targeted Evin prison in Tehran on Monday, in what Israel called the most intense bombing yet of the Iranian capital, a day after the US joined the war by blasting nuclear sites. Iran repeated earlier threats to retaliate against the US. But it had yet to do so more than 24 hours after US bombers dropped 30,000 pound bunker-busters on its underground nuclear sites. The Mizan news outlet of Iran's judiciary confirmed that the prison had been hit. It said part of the building was damaged but the situation was under control. A video posted by Israeli foreign minister Gideon Saar on X showed an explosion at a building with a sign identifying it as an entrance to Evin prison in northern Tehran and the accompanying words. Reuters could not immediately verify the video. Evin has been the primary prison for housing political detainees and security prisoners. It is where several high-profile foreign prisoners are also held. Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz made clear that Israel was no longer limiting its attacks to its initial stated targets such as Iran's nuclear programme and missiles, and would go after the Tehran government's ability to maintain power. "The IDF is currently striking, with unprecedented force, regime targets and governmental repression bodies in the heart of Tehran," he said in a statement. There were conflicting reports on Iranian media about the full extent of strikes on Tehran, a city of 10 million people where much of the population has fled after 10 days of bombing. Tasnim news agency reported a strike at an electricity feeder station in the Evin neighbourhood. Power company Tavanir reported some areas in the capital saw electricity cuts. Iran's student news network reported that Shahid Beheshti University, one of the main universities in Tehran, had also been hit. The university's public relations office denied it. Oil prices barely budged on the first trading day after the US joined the war, suggesting traders doubted Iran would follow through on threats to disrupt oil supplies from the Gulf.

Iran launches missiles toward US bases in Qatar, Iraq
Iran has launched missiles at US airbases in Qatar and Iraq in response to strikes on its nuclear sites. Axios news website, citing an Israeli official, initially reported Iran had launched six missiles toward US bases in Qatar. Iran's Tasnim news agency also reported that the Iranian armed forces' missile attack targeted the American Al-Udeid Air Base. "The operation of Iranian missiles against American bases located in Qatar and in Iraq has begun, and is called 'Blessing of Victory'," the Iranian press agency IRNA said.
