Video: Moment when Iran's missile hits a 1,000-bed Israeli hospital; patients run out in panic
The escalating conflict between Israel and Iran took a dramatic turn on Thursday when a ballistic missile struck Soroka Medical Centre, one of the largest hospitals in southern Israel. Located in Beersheba, the 1,000-bed facility was heavily damaged in the attack, triggering scenes of panic as patients and staff scrambled to evacuate. Videos from the site showed dust-filled corridors and visibly shaken medical personnel attempting to assess the situation amid the wreckage.
According to rescue teams, at least 47 people were injured across multiple impact zones in Israel following the latest barrage of Iranian missile strikes. The attack on Soroka has raised global concern, particularly as the hospital serves nearly one million residents in the region and is a critical part of Israel's healthcare infrastructure.
In a strongly worded statement, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu condemned the attack, saying, 'Iran's terrorist tyrants launched missiles at Soroka Hospital in Be'er Sheba and at civilians in central Israel. We will exact the full price from the tyrants in Tehran.'
Alongside the hospital, Iranian missiles also struck a residential high-rise in Tel Aviv, injuring at least 16 people—three of them seriously—according to local hospitals. The Israeli foreign ministry also weighed in, accusing Tehran of targeting civilian infrastructure and reiterating the government's commitment to national defence.
The missile strike comes as part of a broader escalation, marking the seventh consecutive day of military engagement between the two nations.
On Wednesday, Iran's supreme leader made his second public appearance since the Israeli strikes began and rejected US calls for surrender. He issued a warning stating that any military involvement by the Americans would cause 'irreparable damage to them". Meanwhile, European diplomats are preparing to hold talks with Iran on Friday.
On Tuesday, Israel claimed responsibility for the killing of the most senior military commander of Iran, General Ali Shadmani. He was appointed to the top leadership position a week ago after the death of his predecessor, General Gholam Ali Rashid, in Israel's surprise attack.

Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Friday alleged that over 5,000 social media accounts run from Pakistan and Bangladesh and other Islamic nations are boosting the online presence of the state Congress unit. 'It is surprising that they do not comment on or like posts by Rahul Gandhi or even the Indian National Congress. They are only focused on a particular leader and the Assam Congress," Sarma was quoted as saying by news agency PTI. Himanta Biswa Sarma did not name the Assam Congress leader in question, but it appeared he was referring to Gaurav Gogoi, who took charge as the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee president in the last week of May. The Assam CM claimed that social media accounts from 47 countries, mostly from Pakistan and Bangladesh, have been unusually focused on Gogoi's activities and the state Congress unit's recent moves. He said this is the first time he saw 'so much foreign involvement in Assam politics". 'We are not concerned with the change in the party's leadership in the state, but this development has taken place in the last month and there must be some link. For the first time, there is so much foreign involvement in Assam politics in the run-up to the 2026 assembly elections," Sarma said. He said the issue is related to 'national security" and added that the government is not ruling out that 'some of the accounts may be from within the state". Sarma then revealed that he has 'ordered a forensic audit" of the accounts while pointing out that some of the 5,000 accounts are being run with their location marked as Guwahati. He also said these social media accounts, apart from posting about Assam politics, are also reportedly sharing content linked to Islamic fundamentalist causes, including pro-Palestine messaging, Iranian narratives and statements by Bangladesh's chief advisor Mohammad Yunus. He said a forensic audit revealed that 700 of the accounts originated from Bangladesh, 350 from Pakistan, 246 from Saudi Arabia, 86 from Kuwait and 35 from Afghanistan. First Published:

Pro-Palestinian activists broke into the UK's largest air force base in southeast England and vandalised two planes in an act condemned by Prime Minister Keir Starmer as "disgraceful" on Friday. In the video posted on X, the activists appear to spray a plane with red paint while roaming the base on scooters. "Palestine Action break into RAF Brize Norton and damage two military aircraft," claimed the group, which has been behind several stunts protesting the UK's role in the war between Israel and Hamas in Gaza. "We strongly condemn this vandalism of Royal Air Force assets. We are working closely with the police who are investigating," the Ministry of Defence said. Local police said they launched an investigation into reports of "criminal damage" and a break-in. RAF Brize Norton serves as a hub for air-to-air refuelling forces and supports overseas operations, including flights to the RAF Akrotiri in Cyprus, Britain's largest air force base in the Middle East. According to British media, one of the planes vandalised was an Airbus Voyager air-to-air refuelling tanker. "Despite publicly condemning the Israeli Government, Britain continues to send military cargo, fly spy planes over Gaza and refuel US/Israeli fighter jets," Palestine Action said in a statement. "Britain isn't just complicit, it's an active participant in the Gaza genocide and war crimes across the Middle East." Last month, the group claimed responsibility for vandalising a US military aircraft in Ireland. Starmer's Labour government suspended around 30 out of 350 arms export licenses to Israel last September, citing a "risk" they could be used in violations of international law. But the UK continues to supply components for F-35 fighter jets to a global pool that Israel is able to access. Israel has repeatedly denied allegations that it is committing a genocide in Gaza during its 20-month-long military campaign following Hamas's attack on October 7, 2023.

Recently, a veteran journalist, Raavish Zaidi, had a providential escape when an Israeli missile struck his news channel's headquarters -- just 20 seconds after he stepped out of the building. Sharing his agony, Raavish Zaidi's father, Amir Abbas Zaidi said his son could not attend his mother's last rites as she passed away just six days back in Lucknow. 'He is currently reporting from a war zone. Raavish has been in Iran for the last 15 years working as a TV journalist for the government news channel. Due to the ongoing conflict between Iran ad Israel, he could not come home,' says the worried father. 'I was continuously calling my son to inform him about his mother's demise, but the call wasn't connecting. Late in the evening, I somehow managed to speak to one of his friends. I was told that Israel had launched a missile attack on his news channel's office in Iran," said Zaidi. "The entire office was destroyed. The anchor had to leave the live show and run away. After hearing this, I was very anxious. However, later I was told that my son is safe. The next day, when I spoke to him, he told me that he had left the office just 20 seconds before the attack,' Zaidi added. Raavish Zaidi, currently working with the Islamic Republic of Iran News Network (IRINN), survived a missile attack that struck his office in Iran during a live telecast. The anchor presenting the news was seen fleeing mid-broadcast, and the footage quickly went viral across social media platforms.
