Cruel Scot left starved dogs scavenging for food in cage covered with faeces

Daily Record13-06-2025

A cruel Scots man who left his dogs starving in a cage covered with faeces has been given a five year ban.
Andrew Whyte from Fraserburgh pled guilty to failing to meet the needs of his dogs - Phoenix (4.5-year-old female), Bella (2-year-old female), and Vadar (1.5-year-old male).
The desperate pups were first found underweight and scavenging for food in a dirty home environment. Despite Whyte being handed welfare advice and support by the Scottish SPCA, their condition worsened over the following weeks.
When inspectors returned, all three dogs were found confined together in a tiny cage in a cluttered garage, with no food, water, or bedding. The cage was soiled with faeces and urine.
Whyte admitted failing to provide basic care, including adequate food, water, shelter, and veterinary treatment. He was sentenced to a five-year disqualification from dog ownership and ordered to complete 120 hours of community service within nine months.

A Scottish SPCA Inspector reported: 'Following a complaint, we attended Mr Whyte's property and found three underweight Labradors—Phoenix, Bella, and Vadar—scavenging for food in an unclean environment.
"Despite initial support, their condition deteriorated. On a later visit, we found the dogs crammed into a small, filthy cage in a cluttered garage with no bedding, food, or water."
They continued: 'Whyte would not engage with us at that later visit. There was no excuse for the dogs suffering as our assistance was available.
'Veterinary assessments confirmed all three were severely emaciated and had suffered unnecessarily over a prolonged period due to neglect.
"This case is a stark reminder that failing to meet even the most basic needs of an animal causes real suffering—and will not be tolerated.'

Netflix star killed in horror hit-and-run as police hunt driver

Police are hunting the driver who left Million Dollar Beach House star Sara Burack for dead. A former star of Netflix's Million Dollar Beach House has tragically died after being struck in a hit-and-run in New York. Sara Burack, 40, was hit by a vehicle in the early hours of Thursday morning in Hampton Bays. The driver fled the scene and, as of Thursday night, has yet to be traced. A police investigation remains ongoing. ‌ Sara's body was found just before 3am on Montauk Highway, near the Villa Paul Restaurant. A 911 caller reported seeing a woman lying in the road. Emergency crews rushed to the scene and found her unconscious, with injuries consistent with being hit by a car. She was taken to hospital but died later that day, reports the Mirror. ‌ Sara made her name in the luxury property world as an agent for Nest Seekers International — the high-end firm featured in the Netflix reality show following brokers selling multi-million-dollar beach homes in the Hamptons. Although she left the firm over a year ago, colleagues said she remained close to many in the industry. Geoff Gifkins, Hamptons regional manager for Nest Seekers, said: 'Our thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends. This is a tremendous loss.' Friend and fellow agent Paulette Corsair paid tribute to Sara's kindness and dedication. 'She was an amazing person who really cared for people,' she said. 'A hardworking agent who was loved by many and deeply close to her family.' Join the Daily Record WhatsApp community! In interviews, she spoke of her passion for property and how a stint as a summer house manager inspired her career switch. Speaking ahead of Million Dollar Beach House's release, Sara said viewers would be drawn into the glamorous Hamptons lifestyle — from luxury estates to yacht parties and polo matches. Police are urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward, as friends, colleagues and family grieve the loss of a woman remembered for her warmth, drive and generosity.
