PCG sends off PH vessel for US-Japan maritime exercise
The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) on Friday conducted a send-off ceremony for the BRP Teresa Magbanua (MRRV-9701), which will join the second trilateral maritime exercise with the United States Coast Guard (USCG) and the Japan Coast Guard (JCG).
The exercise will be held in the vicinity waters of Kagoshima, Japan today.
According to the Coast Guard, the participants will also conduct a Search and Rescue Exercise in the vicinity waters of Kinko-Bay.
'The PCG recognizes the significant contributions of USCG and JCG in improving the skills and expertise of its men and women through various human resource development programs,' it said in a statement.
PCG added that it seeks a stronger collaboration and deeper diplomatic relations with its counterparts through the exercise.

'Dangerous maneuvers' performed by CCG while PH installs more floating devices in WPS
The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) and the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) successfully conducted three-day Floating Aggregate Device (FAD) Laying Operations in Hasa Hasa and Kanduli Shoals. That's despite radio challenges and dangerous maneuvers from four Chinese Coast Guard vessels during the operation. 'Our crew, especially the radio operators, responded with professionalism and composure, successfully maintaining our maritime presence with dignity and courage,' said the PCG in a statement released on Wednesday. Meanwhile, the PCG said that there are now 20 FADs deployed in the area. 'The primary objective of this initiative is to bolster the livelihoods of Filipino fishermen by improving their fish catch, while also contributing to the national government's Kadiwa para sa Bagong Bayaning Mangingisda (KBBM) program, which aims to ensure a sustainable and affordable supply of fish,' the statement read. The PCG also said that the devices were installed with the use of three 44-meter Multi-Role Response Vessels (MRRVs), the 5001 PCG-manned BFAR vessel, and MV Mamalakaya, along with several Filipino fishing boats. 20 unwed mothers, 23 children arrive in PH from Dubai

Also with them were 10 overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) who were supposed to go to Jordan to work as domestic workers. They will reportedly be given financial assistance amounting to P50,000 each as well as reintegration and livelihood assistance. Meanwhile, around 150 OFWs must be repatriated from Israel. The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) and the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration are now Coordinating with the Department of Foreign Affairs to secure their safe repatriation. In Christian Maño's Sunday report on Super Radyo DzBB, the crew of BRP Teresa Magbanua (MRRV 9701) engaged in activities such as the small board operation exercise and joint search and rescue drill. These activities aim to strengthen the interoperability of the three countries, particularly operational readiness, coordinated response, and regional cooperation in different maritime challenges. According to the PCG, the country's participation aims to strengthen regional maritime cooperation and the reinforcement of diplomatic ties with the coast guards of other countries.
