Kazakh Alexander Bublik claimed his fifth ATP title on Saturday achieving his first win in seven meetings with Russian Daniil Medvedev in the Wimbledon warm-up tournament in Halle. Thanks to this title, his second in Halle after 2023, Bublik will move to 30th place in Monday's ATP rankings, while Medvedev, who was playing in his first final in 15 months, will move to number nine.
A former world number one in 2022, Medvedev lost his sixth consecutive final, his 20th and last title dating back to the Masters 1000 on clay in Rome in May 2023.
Bublik's titles also came in Montpellier in 2022 and 2024 and Antwerp and Halle in 2023.

Shimla: Boxing championship held in memory of former Himachal CM Virbhadra Singh

The tournament, held under the 'Nasha Chhodo, Khel Khelo (Say No to Drugs Embrace Sports)' campaign, was jointly organised by the Himachal Pradesh Professional Boxing Association and the Virbhadra Singh Foundation. The event, now in its second consecutive year, is scheduled annually ahead of Virbhadra Singh's birth anniversary on June 23, celebrating his legacy while drawing attention to the growing drug menace in the hill state. Himachal Pradesh Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla, who inaugurated the championship, said the name Virbhadra Singh itself carries a legacy of success and inspiration. Russian boxer Igor Tikhonov, speaking to ANI, said, 'This is an unusual experience for us. We've travelled over 6,000 to 7,000 kilometres to be here, and I'm excited. Professional boxing is still growing in India, but such events will surely boost its popularity. I'm expecting a challenging fight tonight, and I'm happy to be here,' he said. 'This is our second consecutive year here. Our team includes three boxers this time. Last year, one of our boxers won the title and another came second. We are ready for the challenge again. Vijay Sundar Prashanth in partnership with Sergio Gorens beat Alexandru Jecan and Bogdan Pavel 2-6, 7-5, [10-8] in the doubles final of the €145,250 Challenger tennis tournament in Poznan, Poland. It was the 28th career doubles title for the 38-year-old Vijay, and the second of the season after the one in Pune with Jeevan Nedunchezhiyan.
