OnePlus 13s now available in India: Check offers, pricing, specs, features and more
OnePlus has officially launched its latest premium mid-range smartphone, the OnePlus 13s, in India earlier this month. The device is now available for purchase through both online and offline channels across the country, boasting a blend of flagship-grade performance, AI-powered features, and a sleek, compact design.
The OnePlus 13s is available in two storage configurations — 12GB RAM + 256GB and 12GB RAM + 512GB — priced at ₹ 54,999 and ₹ 59,999, respectively. However, buyers using SBI credit cards can avail an instant discount of ₹ 5,000, effectively reducing the prices to ₹ 49,999 and ₹ 54,999. Additionally, the company is offering up to nine months of no-cost EMI on select credit cards, and up to 15 months at specific offline retailers.
To further entice customers, OnePlus is providing an exchange bonus of up to ₹ 5,000. Those purchasing the handset before 1 July will also receive a complimentary 180-day Phone Replacement Plan. Meanwhile, Red Cable Club members buying the device by 14 July can claim a Three-Year Battery Protection Plan. Jio postpaid subscribers are eligible for savings of up to ₹ 2,250 on certain plans.
The smartphone is being retailed via the OnePlus Store app, the official OnePlus India website, and Amazon. Offline, it is available at OnePlus Experience Stores, Croma, Reliance Digital, Vijay Sales, Bajaj Electronics, and other select outlets. The 13s comes in three finishes — Black Velvet, Green Silk, and Pink Satin — though the top-tier 512GB variant is limited to the black and green options.
At the heart of the OnePlus 13s is Qualcomm's latest Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, paired with LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.0 storage. It sports a 6.32-inch LTPO display with a 1.5K resolution (1,216 x 2,640 pixels), a refresh rate of up to 120Hz, and a peak brightness of 1,600 nits. The device runs on OxygenOS 15, built atop Android 15.
Replacing the traditional Alert Slider is a new customisable Plus Key, designed for quick access to apps, settings, or modes. This key also activates the AI Plus Mind space, integrating a host of artificial intelligence-driven features such as AI Unblur, AI Reframe, AI Reflection Eraser, AI VoiceScribe, and AI Translation. The phone also supports Google's Circle to Search and is compatible with the Gemini AI assistant.
The OnePlus 13s features a dual rear camera system, headlined by a 50MP Sony LYT-700 main sensor and a 50MP telephoto lens using the S5KJN5 sensor. Selfies and video calls are handled by a 32MP front-facing camera. Powering the device is a sizeable 5,850mAh battery, supported by 80W SuperVOOC fast charging.
Connectivity options include support for 5G, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0, GPS with NavIC, NFC, and a USB Type-C port. The device also features an in-display fingerprint scanner for biometric authentication.

Iran-Israel fighting distorted by tech-fuelled misinformation
AI deepfakes, video game footage passed off as real combat, and chatbot-generated falsehoods; such tech-enabled misinformation is distorting the Israel-Iran conflict, fuelling a war of narratives across social media. The information warfare unfolding alongside ground combat, sparked by Israel's strikes on Iran's nuclear facilities and military leadership, underscores a digital crisis in the age of rapidly advancing AI tools that have blurred the lines between truth and fabrication. The surge in wartime misinformation has exposed an urgent need for stronger detection tools, experts say, as major tech platforms have largely weakened safeguards by scaling back content moderation and reducing reliance on human fact-checkers. After Iran struck Israel with barrages of missiles last week, AI-generated videos falsely claimed to show damage inflicted on Tel Aviv and Ben Gurion Airport. The videos were widely shared across Facebook, Instagram and X. Using a reverse image search, AFP's fact-checkers found that the clips were originally posted by a TikTok account that produces AI-generated content. There has been a "surge in generative AI misinformation, specifically related to the Iran-Israel conflict," Ken Jon Miyachi, founder of the Austin-based firm BitMindAI, told AFP. "These tools are being leveraged to manipulate public perception, often amplifying divisive or misleading narratives with unprecedented scale and sophistication." GetReal Security, a U.S. company focused on detecting manipulated media including AI deepfakes, also identified a wave of fabricated videos related to the Israel-Iran conflict. The company linked the visually compelling videos, depicting apocalyptic scenes of war-damaged Israeli aircraft and buildings as well as Iranian missiles mounted on a trailer, to Google's Veo 3 AI generator, known for hyper-realistic visuals. The Veo watermark is visible at the bottom of an online video posted by the news outlet Tehran Times, which claims to show "the moment an Iranian missile" struck Tel Aviv. "It is no surprise that as generative-AI tools continue to improve in photo-realism, they are being misused to spread misinformation and sow confusion," said Hany Farid, the co-founder of GetReal Security and a professor at the University of California, Berkeley. Farid offered one tip to spot such deepfakes: the Veo 3 videos were normally eight seconds in length or a combination of clips of a similar duration. "This eight-second limit obviously doesn't prove a video is fake, but should be a good reason to give you pause and fact-check before you re-share," he said. The falsehoods are not confined to social media. Disinformation watchdog NewsGuard has identified 51 websites that have advanced more than a dozen false claims ranging from AI-generated photos purporting to show mass destruction in Tel Aviv to fabricated reports of Iran capturing Israeli pilots. Sources spreading these false narratives include Iranian military-linked Telegram channels and state media sources affiliated with the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB), sanctioned by the US Treasury Department, NewsGuard said. "We're seeing a flood of false claims and ordinary Iranians appear to be the core targeted audience," McKenzie Sadeghi, a researcher with NewsGuard, told AFP. Sadeghi described Iranian citizens as "trapped in a sealed information environment," where state media outlets dominate in a chaotic attempt to "control the narrative." Iran itself claimed to be a victim of tech manipulation, with local media reporting that Israel briefly hacked a state television broadcast, airing footage of women's protests and urging people to take to the streets. Adding to the information chaos were online clips lifted from war-themed video games. AFP's fact-checkers identified one such clip posted on X, which falsely claimed to show an Israeli jet being shot down by Iran. The footage bore striking similarities to the military simulation game Arma 3. Israel's military has rejected Iranian media reports claiming its fighter jets were downed over Iran as "fake news." Chatbots such as xAI's Grok, which online users are increasingly turning to for instant fact-checking, falsely identified some of the manipulated visuals as real, researchers said. "This highlights a broader crisis in today's online information landscape: the erosion of trust in digital content," BitMindAI's Miyachi said. "There is an urgent need for better detection tools, media literacy, and platform accountability to safeguard the integrity of public discourse."

During an interaction with senior officials under the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs, FM also asked officials to speed up processing of GST and customs refunds, as well as reduce dwell time at ports, airports, and inland container depots for import and export consignments. She noted that faster cargo clearance is crucial to enhancing India's global trade competitiveness. FM also called for the speedy closure of investigations and sought a detailed analysis of detection and recovery so that gap between the two can be reduced. "At the same time, the finance minister emphasised the need for preventing tax evasion and wrongful input tax credits claims," said an official statement after FM's meeting with principal chief commissioners and directors general of CBIC. She asked for the GST registration process to be made "easier, seamless, and more transparent" through use of technology and risk-based parameters. To reduce registration-related rejections and delays, she also suggested an outreach campaign. Emphasising taxpayer trust, she called for a targeted and sustained focus on grievance redressal, ensuring the timely resolution of queries and complaints through improved systems and accountability. Taking note of pending disciplinary matters, the minister directed that disciplinary proceedings against the officials at different levels be concluded expeditiously in a time-bound manner. CBIC was also asked to fill all vacant posts at the earliest across various levels to strengthen field formations and enhance administrative efficiency. RBI MUMBAI: RBI aimed to signal businesses that cheap funds will be available with its double-barrel rate cut earlier this month to boost growth through spending and investment. According to minutes of the monetary policy committee's meeting, the interest rate cut was triggered by signs that companies were deferring investment plans despite rising capacity utilisation even as inflation was expected to undershoot. Continued uncertainty had pushed top executives into what central bank officials described as a 'zone of inaction'. The MPC voted for an unexpected 50-basis-point (100bps = 1 percentage point) cut in the repo rate or the rate at which RBI lends to banks. The MPC also voted to change the policy stance to 'neutral' from 'accommodative' which RBI governor Sanjay Malhotra said gave it room to 'cut, pause or hike rate' depending on evolving conditions. . 'It is expected that the front-loaded rate action along with certainty on the liquidity front would send a clear signal to economic agents, thereby supporting consumption and investment through lower cost of borrowing,' the governor said in the minutes of the June 6-9 MPC meeting. The meeting also offered a glimpse into the policy stance of deputy governor Poonam Gupta, who joined the central bank in April.
