Only CNG, EV three-wheelers, LCVs to be inducted by aggregators and delivery firms in NCR from Jan 2026

Time of India05-06-2025

New Delhi: In a move to reduce vehicular emissions in Delhi-NCR, the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) has directed that only CNG and
electric vehicles
shall be inducted into the commercial fleets of aggregators, delivery service providers, and e-commerce entities operating in the region from January 1, 2026.
According to CAQM, the directive applies to three-wheeler autorickshaws, two-wheelers, and four-wheeler Light Commercial Vehicles (LCVs) and Light Goods Vehicles (LGVs) up to 3.5 tonnes (N1 category). No further induction of diesel or petrol-powered vehicles into these fleets will be permitted beyond the stipulated date.
'The existing fleet of vehicles onboarded by these service providers can be continued for such services,' the Commission stated. However, induction of any new internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles running purely on diesel or petrol in the mentioned categories will be prohibited after January 1, 2026.
The directive is part of a broader effort by CAQM to address the transport sector's significant contribution to the overall air pollution load in the National Capital Region, which remains high throughout the year and intensifies during winter months.
The Delhi Transport Department has already implemented the Delhi Motor Vehicle Aggregator and Delivery Service Provider Scheme, 2023, for licensing and regulating
aggregators and delivery firms
. The Commission has now urged Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, and Rajasthan to formulate similar comprehensive policies, especially targeting high vehicle density cities such as Gurugram, Faridabad, Sonipat, Noida, Greater Noida, and Ghaziabad.
The commission emphasized that all Motor Vehicle Aggregators, Delivery Service Providers, and E-Commerce Entities under the jurisdiction of the NCR states must comply with the new directions.
Governments of Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, and Rajasthan have been directed to create dedicated web portals, similar to the one developed by the Delhi Transport Department, for monitoring compliance. The NCR state governments have also been asked to publicise the directions widely among stakeholders.

Only BS-VI compliant trucks will be allowed to enter Delhi from Nov 1: Govt

Aiming to curb the entry of polluting commercial vehicles into Delhi, the Rekha Gupta government plans to prohibit the entry of all commercial vehicles that are not compliant with BS-VI from November 1, an official said on Sunday. In addition to curbs on entry of polluting goods vehicles, the Delhi government is also gearing up to plans to stop sale of fuel to end-of-life (EoL) or over-age vehicles from July 1. The city's Transport department recently issued a circular clarifying that even if a commercial vehicle is carrying Delhi-bound essential commodities or providing essential services in the city it will not be allowed to enter the city after October 31 if it is not BS-VI compliant. Bharat Stage VI or BS-VI is the most stringent emission standard set by the Indian government to regulate air pollutants from vehicles. The Delhi government's crackdown against polluting trucks is based on the latest direction issued by the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM), said a transport department official. Citing CAQM's direction number 88 to curb rising air pollution from commercial goods vehicles, the transport department said: "All transport/commercial vehicle viz. Light Goods Vehicles, Medium Goods Vehicle and Heavy Goods Vehicles -– that are not BS-VI complaint will be strictly prohibited from entering National Capital Territory (NCT) of Delhi from November 1, 2025." Soon after the Bharatiya Janata Party came to power in Delhi, the Forest and Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa had hinted at a possible ban on sale of fuel to vehicles older than 15 years and constituted a team to identify and restrict movement of overage, polluting vehicles in the city. The transport department has now defined EoL vehicles as those which are no longer validly registered vehicles, whether running on petrol, CNG or diesel. These also include petrol vehicles more than 15 years old and diesel vehicles more than 10 years old. The CAQM has also issued a direction that all EoL vehicles identified through Automatic Number Plate Recognition cameras or other such devices installed at fuel pump stations would be denied fuel from July 1 in the NCT of Delhi. The transport department has warned that fuel pump owners found supplying fuel to EoL vehicles may also face action.

Google Proposes Major Changes to Search Results to Avoid EU Antitrust Fine, ET HospitalityWorld

Alphabet's Google has proposed more changes to its search results to better showcase rivals in a bid to stave off a possible hefty EU antitrust fine, according to documents seen by Reuters. Google's latest proposal came three months after the European Commission charged the U.S. tech giant with favouring its own services such as Google Shopping, Google Hotels and Google Flights over rivals in breach of the Digital Markets Act (DMA). The landmark DMA sets out a list of dos and don'ts for Big Tech aimed at reining in their power and giving rivals more room to compete and consumers more choices. Under Google's new proposal a vertical search service (VSS) selected on objective and non-discriminatory criteria would get its own box at the top of the search page with the same format, information and features as Google's, the document said. Advt The box would contain three direct links picked by the VSS, to hotels, airlines, restaurants and VSS, which are specialised search engines within Google, would be ranked below but without a box unless users click on them."We do not agree with the (Commission's) preliminary findings' position but, on a without prejudice basis, we want to find a workable solution to resolve the present proceedings," the documents sent by both Google and the Commission to the rivals rivals will provide feedback at a July 8 meeting called by the Commission. A number of rivals, who did not want to be named ahead of the meeting, told Reuters that the changes still do not go far enough to ensure a level playing field.(Reporting by Foo Yun Chee; Editing by Susan Fenton Join the community of 2M+ industry professionals. Industries demand reduction in power tariff as consumer price index registers a decline

With the Consumer Price Index (CPI) for April 2025 declining compared with last April, industries in Coimbatore are demanding that the Tamil Nadu Power Distribution Corporation (TNPDCL) retain the electricity tariff for industries at the same level or reduce it. Based on the multi-year tariff revision introduced in 2022, industries will see 6% increase in power tariff from July 1. The Tamil Nadu Electricity Regulatory Commission (TNERC) order says that the control period under the multi-year tariff frame work shall be five years. The year preceding the first year of the control period shall be the base year where the Commission desires to fix multi year tariff. A formula based on Consumers' Price lndex (wholesale Price lndex (or) a quantum (Percentage / value) required to meet the Aggregate Revenue Requirement of the licensee shall be prescribed. Industry sources here said the All India Consumer Price Index for April 2025 is 3.48 % as against 4.83 % in April 2024. Since there is a decline in the CPI, the Commission and the TNPDCL should not implement the annual 6 % annual hike in tariff this year. They urged the TNERC also to issue orders to either retain the tariff or reduce it. Electricity consultants said if the CPI has reduced in April this year, the TNPDCL and the TNERC should not hike the tariff from July 1.
