Commentator Chip Caray's shocking slip of the tongue during Pride night commercial goes viral
A baseball commentator suffered an unfortunate slip of the tongue at the worst possible time on Saturday.
St. Louis Cardinals announcer Chip Caray was asked to read a Disability Pride promo during the fourth inning of their game against the Cincinnati Reds.
But he accidentally mispronounced 'flag', turning the word into an unintentional homophobic slur.
'Disability Pride Night is July 10 and with a themed ticket fans take home a Cardinals cap featuring the Disability Pride f**', Caray said before correcting himself to say 'flag'.
There was then a painful silence that lasted around 30 seconds after the mistake as the game continued in the background.
Caray's colleague Brad Thompson finally broke the silence by commenting on a pitch that was called for a ball.
Fans quickly flocked to social media to comment on the humiliating error and share their thoughts.
One posted: 'Uh oh, thats a rough one lol'.
Another commented: 'Loudest silence I've ever heard lol'.
A third added: 'It was an obvious slip of the tongue just a simple apology and move on.'
'The silence after is the apology he's obviously mortified and probably has a thousand thoughts running in his head,' another viewer said.
'He should not be reprimanded. It was literally a slip of the tongue. I highly doubt Caray is running around using that word. People need to focus on real outrage.'

Jalen Brunson posted, 'Prayers up man' while Karl-Anthony Towns said something similar: 'You never want to see that, prayers up.' Even Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes posted, 'Prayers up man...' with similar emojis as the others. It's a disappointing end to a night that started with such promise for Haliburton, who went 3-of-4 from beyond the arc to grab nine points. If Haliburton did indeed tear his Achilles, he'd be the third NBA superstar to suffer that injury in these playoffs, alongside Milwaukee Bucks guard Damian Lillard and Boston Celtics guard Jayson Tatum. A torn Achilles would likely require surgery and a lengthy recovery time for the Indiana star. At halftime, Indiana is clinging on to a 48-47 lead.

Max Scherzer set to make Blue Jays return on Wednesday
June 23 - Future Hall of Fame pitcher Max Scherzer is set to make his return to the mound for Toronto on Wednesday when the Blue Jays play the middle game of a three-game set at the Cleveland Guardians. Manager John Schneider has officially listed Scherzer as the starter in that game. It will mark his first appearance since his Blue Jays debut versus Baltimore on March 29. "That's a huge, huge addition for us," Schneider said after Sunday's 4-2 loss to the Chicago White Sox. "That's Max Scherzer. I'll take that any day of the week." Scherzer signed a one-year, $15.5 million deal with Toronto in February. He only lasted three innings versus the Orioles in the third game of the season. He was initially placed on the 15-day injured list on March 30 with inflammation in his right thumb, but was eventually transferred to the 60-day IL. The 40-year-old has received two cortisone injections and was eligible to come off the list on May 29. He made two rehab starts for Triple-A Buffalo on June 13 and 18, fanning 12 batters and allowing two earned runs in 8 2/3 innings of work. He threw 75 pitches at Columbus on Wednesday and completed a bullpen session in Toronto on Sunday. "He's ready to go," Schneider said. "The thumb is a thing. It's a real thing. Viewers before Game 7 of the NBA Finals were treated to the sight and sound of a screaming Stephen A. Smith, possibly too into the moment for his own good. Over an hour before tipoff of the final and decisive game of the championship series, Smith let his passion for the game out on-air - but possibly at a volume not appropriate for the occasion at the time. Video posted to social media by Awful Announcing showed Smith getting into a shouting match on ESPN with his co-star and former Oklahoma City Thunder player Kendrick Perkins. While starting off at a lower volume, Smith eventually raised his voice while calling Perkins 'really annoying' for believing that some players in this game may not be able to perform the same as they would in other environments. 'This is a man that is a champion, you're talking about a Game 7... he acts like everybody that's been producing all year long, come Game 7, "it's no different, it's no different." It's very, very, very different,' Smith said at the top of his lungs.
