Ombudsman heightening excitement for Walker with Almaqam
Almaqam impressively made all at Sandown to see off John and Thady Gosden's performer, but with Walker deciding to wait for more suitable ground rather than head to the Royal meeting with his talented four-year-old, the door was left open for Ombudsman to boost the Esher result. which now looks red hot.
'It looked a very strong renewal of the Brigadier Gerard, Ombudsman has come out and confirmed he's a smart horse and hopefully we can do soon,' said Walker, who enjoyed a tremendous time at the Royal meeting with two winners and Do Or Do Not beaten only by Gstaad in the Coventry Stakes.
'It's an exciting result to see for us, but you have to remember Sandown was Ombudsman's first run of the season and he was carrying a 3lb penalty. He loomed up like he was going to be a threat and John and Thady will know more than me, but it felt like he needed the run slightly carrying a penalty on easy ground.
'It is exciting and I think we all felt at Sandown the first two were very smart horses.'
After quick ground scuppered any designs of turning up in the Prince of Wales's Stakes for Almaqam himself, Walker is now left searching for ideal conditions buoyant he has plenty to look forward to.

'It's all ground dependent and we will have him in everything and take our pick,' added Walker on future plans.
'He'll be in everything at a mile and a quarter, but I wouldn't rule out going a mile and a half as well. We have put him in the Princess of Wales's Stakes at Newmarket (July 10) over a mile and a half, so we will see where the ground will suit.'

It's not as clear cut as saying it's one over the other because Rangers can have both. 4 'But what won't be accepted is what's happened in previous years where the team has done well in Europe but is ten or 15 points behind in the league. 'If you look at the points they dropped against teams from the mid to low end of the table it was unacceptable. 'That's how the gap goes from being four points — where there is still pressure on the team at the top — to that big a gap where it becomes easy and the team at the top can cruise. 'When you look at the teams they could have got in Europe, Panathinaikos is definitely the toughest opposition. 'On top of that you've had a takeover, a new manager and a squad rebuild that needs to happen. 'Russell coming in will make it an enjoyable place to play but there will be expectations in terms of what he wants. Humidity too much for Chesham rivals
Trained by Andrew Balding, he was an impressive winner in the colours of Cheveley Park Stud over six furlongs at Newbury on debut, but transferred to the ownership of Wathnan Racing ahead of stepping up to seven furlongs for this Listed event. Humidity (4-1) was quickly away and never passed by his rivals, showing great resolve when challenged late in the day to replicate his brother Holloway Boy, who won this contest on debut at the 2022 Royal meeting. Balding said: 'I am so pleased and at the beginning of the week we felt this horse was probably our strongest chance. 'He's a lovely horse who had to battle hard today, and he's done nothing wrong. I would hope he would stay further, but he's not short of speed either. This was always the plan but we will now work back from something nice in the autumn. 'He's so laid back. I'm a big fan of Ulysses – I think he's an under-rated stallion, so this is good for him and we've got a couple of other nice horses by him, but he (Humidity) is an absolute dude, very relaxed. 'I think he could be a Guineas horse. He's not short of speed and he's got a lovely long stride, so he's got a bright future.' Coral make Humidity a 14-1 shot for next year's 2000 Guineas. Thesecretadversary followed Humidity home a length adrift at 12-1, with trainer Fozzy Stack predicting a bright future for the son of St Mark's Basilica. 'He ran a great race.
