Jeethu Joseph confirms talks for simultaneous release of ‘Drishyam 3' in Malayalam, Hindi, and Telugu
Director Jeethu Joseph has confirmed that discussions are underway to release Drishyam 3 simultaneously in Malayalam, Hindi, and Telugu. The much-anticipated third installment of the hit thriller franchise, starring Mohanlal, is set to begin filming in October. The update came after Aashirvad Cinemas, the production house backing the film, released a teaser reel featuring a close-up of Georgekutty's eye, echoing an iconic shot from the first Drishyam. The teaser also confirmed that the film will go on floors in October 2025. October 2025 — the camera turns back to Georgekutty. The past never stays silent.# — Aashirvad Cinemas (@aashirvadcine) June 21, 2025 Jeethu Joseph, who returns to direct the third part, addressed speculation surrounding the Hindi adaptation. 'The script of the third film is nearing completion. The Hindi version will be based on the same story. Once my script is complete, it will be shared with the Hindi team to adapt culturally,' he said. While reports suggested parallel shoots for the different versions, Jeethu noted that such a plan remains uncertain. 'The dates of the lead actors may not align for simultaneous shooting,' he explained. Mohanlal will reprise his role in the Malayalam version, while Ajay Devgn and Venkatesh are expected to lead the Hindi and Telugu adaptations, respectively. Still, Jeethu revealed that the idea of a same-day release across languages is under serious consideration. 'There was a request for a simultaneous release,' he said. 'In this OTT age, releasing on different dates might reduce the film's impact in other languages.' The Drishyam franchise has gained a strong following across India. The first film, released in 2013, and its sequel Drishyam 2 (2021), both saw critical and commercial success. While Drishyam 2 premiered directly on Amazon Prime Video due to the pandemic, expectations are high for a theatrical release for the third part. Meanwhile, Mohanlal is riding high after the success of Thudarum, and will next appear in Hridayapoorvam, directed by Sathyan Anthikad.

We are considering a simultaneous release of Drishyam 3 in Malayalam, Hindi and Telugu: Jeethu Joseph
Director Jeethu Joseph and Aashirvad Cinemas have announced that the shooting of the much-awaited Drishyam 3, starring Mohanlal , will begin in October. The production house made the announcement by sharing a reel that begins with a close-up shot of Mohanlal's character, George Kutty's eye, which is very striking in the first part of Drishyam. Speaking to us, Jeethu Joseph shared, "The script of the third film is nearing completion. There have been reports that the Hindi version will have a different story, but that's not true. The Hindi film will also be based on my story. Once I complete my script, it will be shared with the Hindi team, who will then adapt it to suit their setting and make suitable cultural changes." While there is buzz that both the films will be shot in parallel, the director said, "That's not something we can confirm now. The dates of the lead actors may not work out that way." While Mohanlal plays the lead in Malayalam, Ajay Devgn and Venkatesh headline the Hindi and Telugu versions, respectively. However, Jeethu adds, "There was a request from their side for a simultaneous release. So, we have been discussing the prospect of releasing the films simultaneously—not just the Malayalam and Hindi versions, but the Telugu one as well. In this OTT age, they feel that releasing on different dates might reduce the film's impact in the other languages."
