KILLER paedophile Sidney Cooke has failed in a jail release bid aged 98.
The oldest UK lag to have a parole hearing was denied freedom — or a move to open prison.

The former fairground worker was part of a paedophile gang jailed over the 1985 killing of abducted Jason Swift, 14, in Hackney, East London.
He was released in 1998, but jailed for life soon after for abusing two brothers in the 1970s.
His paedophile 'Dirty Dozen' gang was suspected of abducting and killing 17 boys.
A source said: 'Cooke will be devastated, though it is clearly the right decision.
'He is totally remorseless and not rehabilitated at all.
'People like him will never change.'
It was his twelfth release bid.
And a spokesperson for the Parole Board said: 'We can confirm that a panel refused the release of Sidney Cooke following a paper review.
'The panel also refused to recommend a move to open prison.
'Parole Board decisions are solely focused on what risk a prisoner could represent to the public if released and whether that risk is manageable in the community.
'A panel will carefully examine a huge range of evidence, including details of the original crime, and any evidence of behaviour change, as well as explore the harm done and impact the crime has had on the victims.
'Parole reviews are undertaken thoroughly and with extreme care. Protecting the public is our number one priority.'

Prolific paedophile
SIDNEY Cooke is one of Britain's most infamous paedophiles, known for leading a gang of child abusers responsible for some of the country's most horrific crimes.
Born in 1927, Cooke worked as a fairground worker, travelling across the UK with his 'Test Your Strength' machine.
This job allowed him to move frequently and target vulnerable boys, often gaining their trust with sweets and promises of fairground rides.
Cooke was the ringleader of a group later dubbed the 'Dirty Dozen,' a gang of paedophiles who preyed on young boys, often those from troubled backgrounds or living on the streets.
Operating out of a flat in Hackney's Kingsmead estate, the gang lured, drugged, and raped children, sometimes leading to their deaths.
His most infamous crime was the brutal abuse and murder of 14-year-old Jason Swift in 1985. Cooke and his gang took turns sexually assaulting Jason after each paying £5.
When Jason died from the abuse, they dumped his body in Essex. Cooke was convicted of Jason's manslaughter in 1989 and sentenced to 19 years, though he served only nine before being released in 1998.
His release sparked public outrage, and within months, police arrested him again for abusing two teenage brothers in the 1970s.
In 1999, Cooke pleaded guilty to ten charges, including rape and indecent assault, and received two life sentences.
Now in his late 90s, Cooke remains in prison. Detectives believe he and his gang may be linked to up to 17 child murders, including the disappearance of seven-year-old Mark Tildesley, whose body has never been found.

He also repeatedly gesticulated and adopted an aggressive demeanour towards three members of the cabin crew while on board the easyJet aircraft on September 27 last year. Shocked staff were forced to alert the police to Devine's rowdy behaviour and after landing at the Scottish capital officers boarded the plane and arrested the drunk 52-year-old. Devine pleaded guilty to three offences under The Air Navigation Order and Civil Aviation Act when his case called at Edinburgh Sheriff Court last month and sentence was deferred to Thursday. The court was told Devine, from Dundee, had been excused attendance at the hearing as he is currently out of the country for several months working off shore with the oilfield services company Saipem. Sheriff Thomas Welsh agreed to deal with the matter in his absence and sentenced the North Sea quality control coordinator to pay a total fine of £1475 to mark the offences. Devine, who also owns the real estate firm Devine Property Holdings Ltd, had been returning home after several weeks away when the ship he had been working on dropped him off at Sicily. While waiting on his flight at the island's Catania Airport the father of two telephoned his partner who told him she was leaving him and didn't want to see him on his return to Scotland. He was said to have become upset and began drinking alcohol in the airport lounge before continuing to down drinks while travelling home onboard the easyJet flight. The off shore engineer then became aggressive towards cabin crew after they warned him to stop using his vape and not to make telephone calls during the flight. 'He seemed quite upset about something and was shouting and swearing at the easyJet staff who had politely asked him to stop. 'The crew tried to take the vape off him but he wouldn't hand it over and they just didn't have any choice but to inform the police about his behaviour. 'He totally deserved to be arrested when we landed in Edinburgh and to be honest he was a complete nightmare during the flight.' Devine pleaded guilty to charges of being drunk on board the flight and failing to obey commands issued by the pilot and cabin crew, refuse to secure his seatbelt, make a telephone call and use a vape on board the aircraft and refuse to hand over the vape to the crew. She is said to have told the police that Jones was the driver and ran away from the scene on foot before calling the MMA icon. A police aide stated the person on the phone, who they believed to be Jones, 'appeared to be heavily intoxicated and made statements implying his capacity to employ lethal force through third parties.' Jones is also said to have not directly identified himself to police during the conversation, in which he allegedly made 'allusions to violence'. In an interview with police, Jones claims the woman found in the car was intoxicated when she left his house earlier in the day. He claims she rang him after getting into the crash and passed the phone over to an officer who 'immediately opened the conversations with unprofessional language, which led him to doubt the legitimacy of the individual's claim.' 5 In the police report, the woman found in the car claims she drank alcohol and took mushrooms at Jones' house, with her "next recollection was being at the scene of a traffic accident.' But she remained adamant the person driving the car was Jones, who, in the police report, is said to have called the woman 13 times and sent her scores of text messages from the time of he crash until the following morning.
