Often when a film is released, the first day of the box office collection speaks a lot about the coming days of the collection of the film. However, there have been instances when the first collection was unexpected and the movie minted money but witnessed a sharp decline in numbers in the coming days. Something similar happened with the film which we are going to discuss today. The movie had three superstars, and despite their presence, the film turned out a huge flop. The film was released in 1995 and during that time, the budget of the movie was Rs 11 crore, which is considered a huge budget for the movie. First Indian film to earn Rs 1 crore on 1st day of release is…
If you are wondering which movie we are talking about, then it is none other than Shah Rukh Khan's Trimurti. Released 30 years ago, the movie made a huge record on its opening day. Helmed by acclaimed director Subhash Ghai, the movie featured Shah Rukh Khan, Jackie Shroff, and Anil Kapoor in lead roles.
According to media reports, Shah Rukh Khan's Trimurti earned Rs 1.06 crore on day 1 of release. However, what followed next was unexpected for viewers as well as critics. Despite a bumper opening, the film only earned Rs 8.57 crore in India. The graph went from up to down in no time, leaving the audience and even makers stunned.
Despite having three superstars, the film wasn't saved and became a huge flop. Apart from the leading three actors, the movie also featured Priya Tendulkar, Gautami Tadimalla, Anjali Jathar, Tinnu Anand, Saeed Jaffrey, Anang Desai, and Himani Shivpuri in important roles.

Sitaare Zameen Par Box Office Day 3: Aamir Khan's Film Collects Rs 57 Crore On 1st Weekend

Last Updated: RS Prasanna's Aamir Khan and Genelia Deshmukh-starrer Sitaare Zameen Par had a successful first weekend, surpassing Rs 55 crore net in India. Aamir Khan is back, and how! His latest film Sitaare Zameen Par is shining bright at the box office. After just three days in theatres, the heartwarming sports comedy has raked in a solid Rs 57 crore net in India, according to Sacnilk. Directed by RS Prasanna and also starring Genelia Deshmukh, the film had a strong weekend run. Sitaare Zameen Par has been receiving a good response from the audience and critics alike for its emotional depth and powerful storytelling. As per trade reports, Sitaare Zameen Par earned Rs 26.45 crore on Sunday, pushing its total to Rs 57.35 crore net in India. The film, which had an average start at Rs 10.7 crore on Friday, saw an impressive jump of nearly 89 per cent on Saturday with Rs 20.2 crore coming in. Sunday continued the momentum, with the Hindi version recording a 41.76 per cent occupancy and numbers rising steadily through the day. For context, Sitaare Zameen Par is inching closer to surpassing the lifetime India collection of Aamir Khan's Laal Singh Chaddha, which had wrapped up at Rs 61.36 crore. The film has already outperformed Kesari Chapter 2 (Rs 29.5 crore) and Sunny Deol's Jaat (Rs 26.25 crore) in just its first weekend. However, it still trails behind the likes of Salman Khan's Sikandar, which raked in Rs 74.5 crore in its opening weekend, and Akshay Kumar's Sky Force, which clocked Rs 62.25 crore. Sitaare Zameen Par is considered a spiritual successor to Aamir Khan's 2007 classic Taare Zameen Par. The original film followed the moving story of Ishaan, a dyslexic child played by Darsheel Safary, and touched hearts across the nation with its sensitive portrayal of learning disabilities. It also featured Tisca Chopra and Vipin Sharma. On the other hand, Sitaare Zameen Par is a sports comedy drama film produced by Aamir Khan and Aparna Purohit. Aroush Datta, Gopi Krishna Varma, Samvit Desai, Vedant Sharma, Ayush Bhansali, Ashish Pendse, Rishi Shahani, Rishabh Jain, Naman Mishra and Simran Mangeshkar will make their Hindi cinema debut with the film. The film also boasts a strong supporting cast with seasoned performers like Dolly Ahluwalia, Gurpal Singh, Brijendra Kala, and Ankita Sehgal. The story centres on Gulshan, a former star basketball coach portrayed by Aamir Khan, who is ordered to coach a group of neurodivergent children as part of his community service following a DUI offence. What starts off as a begrudging assignment soon evolves into a life-changing experience for both him and the team. Genelia Deshmukh plays Sunita, Gulshan's supportive wife. N ews18 gave 3.5 rating to Sitaare Zameen Par. A part of our review read, 'Unlike Taare Zameen Par's Nikumbh, Gulshan isn't perfect. This is a flawed, man-child character, dealing with his own traumas, learning to navigate life with the help of those who suffer developmental delays. So far, on paper, Sitaare Zameen Par seems rather fantastic, novel, and heartfelt. And don't get us wrong — it definitely is all of that. But it also has its share of flaws that become a bump in its path to becoming a great film. To start with, at 2 hours 39 minutes, the film appears to be an extremely long and slow-moving affair." Prada showcases latest collection featuring Kolhapuri chappal lookalikes, netizens react: ‘Sarojini went international'

From Nehru jackets to turbans, cummerbunds to dupattas, global fashion has incorporated pieces integral to Indian culture in its mood boards and lookbooks—often without giving due credit and recognition. The latest to do so is Italian luxury brand Prada, whose Spring Summer 2026 Men's collection dropped Kolhapuri-esque footwear, much to our distaste. As the models strutted down the runway, the quintessential Kolhapuri chappal on their feet caught the Internet's attention, with people expressing outrage over yet another element of Indian fashion being borrowed without proper acknowledgement. Celebrity stylist Anaita Shroff Adajania took to social media to reshare a video of the runway show, reiterating that what Prada had their models showcase on the ramp was nothing but a pair of good old Kolhapuri chappals. Following her footsteps, digital creator and fashion critic Diet Sabya posted their thoughts on Instagram: 'Not to be that nagging aunty but are we ready for a Prada Kolhapuri that'll cost us £1,000 a pair? And that'll be 'Fashion' because Europeans will suddenly start wearing it. Quite interesting if you think about it.' According to them, the market has recently experienced a shift from 'Made in France and Italy' products (hailed as the benchmark of quality) to 'Made in India' ones sold with a European label and name. 'All that embroidery, all that artisanal flex, all produced in India. Always has been,' they added. Netizens are split over the recent launch, taking to comments to express their unfiltered views and reactions. While some drew parallels to its similarity back home, stating 'Grandpa used to have the same chappal' and 'THE CHAPPAL GOES GLOBAL', others were not quite so happy. Statements such as 'How easily brands take away the OG identity and think it's ok to do that … Guts' to 'These joggers are at every street vendor in Delhi's Lajpat, Sarojini, Karol Bagh, etc markets 😮‍💨for ₹150-300 🥲,' and 'Sarojini went international,' were common appearances in the comments section. Hailing from the humble Maharashtrian city of Kolhapur, these slip-on chappals are handcrafted from premium quality leather by skilled artisans who have been at it for generations. According to a blog post by Korakari Kolhapur Chappals, these shoes are built to last, and their durability and unmatched comfort make them a favourite among the Indian crowd. In fact, once you bypass their break-in period, these slippers take the shape of the wearer's feet over time and provide a custom fit. Kolhapuri chappals are not just footwear—they are a piece of Indian heritage. Wearing them supports traditional craftsmanship and helps preserve an age-old art form. They can serve you for many years with proper care, weathering rain and storm, making them a sustainable and cost-effective choice in the long run.
