Tatcha serum stick alternatives that are £40 cheaper and shoppers 'love'
Four budget-friendly serum stick alternatives, perfect for preventing eczema flare ups as seen in a viral TikTok of the Tatcha product saving a fan as Beyoncé concert reduces her to tears
Beyonce's Cowboy Carter tour has arrived in the UK, causing a wave of social media videos of fans going wild as Queen Bey arrived at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. One particular video went viral this weekend as an emotional Beyoncé fan shared her skincare top tip as she teared up during a performance.
Content creator @ littlemissplumful 's mid-concert 'touch-up' has over 2.2 million views and shows her recovering from an emotional part of the show with a serum stick that she claims protects her skin by preventing an eczema breakout.
Applying the serum around her eyes, she captioned the post: "Tears always trigger eczema rashes around my eyes so I try to apply an emollient to protect my skin barrier when I know I might cry. Yes even in the middle of a Beyoncé concert because I cried all night". The caption ended with the creator, called Elise, saying: "That's my #eczemahack of the day for you".
But some beauty-obsessed users wanted more information, with one writing: "I get eczema under and around my eyes too but have never heard of this!!! What is this product? Does it actually work on dry patches? Because I have a dry patch on my cheek, and was considering this, because no matter how much I moisturize it is still there".
Elise's recommendation, which is The Serum Stick by Tatcha, has been met by a round of virtual applause for her normalisation of facial eczema and pocket-sized solution.
What is the Tatcha The Serum Stick?
User @Carly_Pro supported the video's claims, saying: "The Tatcha serum stick is my babe. I can never be without her!". Priced at nearly £50 a pop, this eight gram balm stick has received five star reviews on Tatcha's website, promising to be "hydrating, healthy aging" and for "all skin types".
According to the Tatcha website, "95% [of users] showed improvement in skin texture after 2 weeks" and another "95% showed improvement in the look of fine lines after 4 weeks". These results were based on a clinical study of 23 panellists.
Great for troublesome and tricky skin conditions, the serum does not include mineral oils, synthetic fragrance, sulfates, detergents, parabens, urea, DEA, TEA or phthalates, making it perfect for sensitive patches. What's more, the serum-stick is now on sale on SpaceNK for £39.20, saving you nearly £10!
But if that's just not enough of a bargain for you, here's some affordable alternatives that are just as good and a fraction of the price.
Kiehl's Ultra Facial Barrier Balm, £24.80 was £31
The Kiehl's Ultra Facial Barrier Balm is a brilliant Serum Stick alternative and is also suitable for all skin types, promising 24 hours of hydration.
With a similar ingredient list and no sulphates in sight, the nine gram stick offers an eighth more product, "glacial glycoprotein," "long-chain lipids" that lock in moisture and "squalene: a readily-absorbed, stabilised, hydrating emollient".
And if the brand's raving reviews are not enough, Look Fantastic are now selling the Barrier Balm for £24.80, more than £6 off.

Eucerin UltraSensitive Soothing Care, £19
The UltraSensitive Soothing Care is a 50ml stick catering to dry skin and acting as both a day and night cream. The moisturiser helps to treat hypersensitive skin caused by a "weakened skin barrier, nerve-fibre hyperresponsiveness and stress inflammation," which produces resulting "hyper-reactivity, redness and irritation," says the Sephora website.
A recent review rated the product five stars, a customer writing: "I have searched for the last year and spent a lot on products that aggravate my very sensitive skin. This one works, I am so relieved".
Aquaphor Healing Balm Stick, £11.51
In the comment section of the Elise's TikTok, one user dropped her own recommendation, sharing that "the Aquaphor sticks are a game changer for patchy spots".
At 18.4g, the Immediate Relief Healing Balm Stick contains the most product so far. Costing under £12, the skin protectant contains avocado oil and shea butter, and is more that £37 less than Tatcha's original price.
The paraben and fragrance free stick can also be used for: chafing; dry irritated skin friction & windburn; cracked heels & feet; and has a "non-sticky feel".
Vaseline Paraben and Fragrance Free
And last but not least, the Vaseline All-Over Body Balm is the most affordable alternative, an eighth of the Tatcha's £49. Fragrance free and a friend to your wallet, customers cannot stop raving about this drugstore alternative.
One happy customer left a review on iHerb which said: "Unscented so it's safe for those sensitive to scents. Can be used for rough heels, dry elbows and knees, your lips, eyebrows, nails, almost anywhere Since it's solid/stick form, can be easily packed for your travels It's quite big, so you can use for a long time Good quality, cheaper by a bit as compared to the Aquaphor stick".

Blue Ivy, 13, enjoys shopping spree in Paris ahead of joining mum Beyoncé on stage for Cowboy Carter tour
Blue Ivy was seen soaking up some well-earned downtime in Paris ahead of her second performance in the city, where she'll join her mum Beyoncé on stage for her Cowboy Carter tour. The 13-year-old looked effortlessly stylish as she stepped out for a shopping spree at Le Bon Marché on Friday. She rocked a black Bape T-shirt paired with grey denim shorts and sleek grey trainers. Adding to her cool off-duty look, Blue shielded her eyes with chic black sunglasses and appeared in great spirits as she sampled perfumes inside the luxury department store. The nepo baby showcased her explosive choreography as she led a troupe of her mom's backing dancers in front of 70,000 fans at California 's SoFi stadium in April. With music in her genes, it seems fitting that Blue has inherited a taste not only for the industry, but also the spotlight. Now, the Daily Mail can reveal the seasoned performer wants more than to saddle up beside her mother – she wants to take the reins and pen her own body of work. 'Blue is considering starting her own career in music,' our insider said. 'Some of Beyoncé's favorite writers are quietly penning demos for her in anticipation of a solo album.' With no shortage of industry bigwigs to lean on, the youngster has reportedly sought help from her famous aunt Solange Knowles and already has tracks lined up from The-Dream, should she want them. The American songwriter and producer has long worked with Beyoncé, co-writing songs including Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It) and Break My Soul from her Grammy-winning Renaissance album. He also worked with Jay-Z on his 2013 track No Church in the Wild. 'Blue is also writing material with help from Solange,' our source continued. 'The-Dream has been spearheading it, and he has two or three records for her. 'They know the fans want to hear a Blue record.' They added: 'She is only allowed to listen to age-appropriate songs from artists and has been listening to Infinity Song, Michelle Williams' Heart 2 Yours record and Goapele.' Blue Ivy's foray into solo stardom won't be her first shot at singing. The young teen, whose fan base is known as the Ivy League, had credits to her name long before reaching double digits. Dubbed 'the most famous baby in the world' by TIME, just ten days after her birth in January 2012 her coos and cries featured on her dad's track Glory. The following year she landed a credit on her mom's single Blue from her self-titled album. Aged seven, she sang on Homecoming: The Live Album – a collection of recordings from Beyoncé's record-breaking Coachella 2018 set – performing her own rendition of hymn Lift Every Voice and Sing. 'I want to do it again… I want to do it again,' she says at the end of the track. 'It feels good!' And do it again she did. In 2019 she became the youngest female artist to chart on the Hot 100 after featuring on her mom's single Brown Skin Girl – a title she later lost to her sister Rumi after she joined Beyoncé on Protector last year. The credit also earned Blue a Grammy and the Guinness World Record for youngest individually credited person to receive one of the famous gold-plated gongs. Soon followed a cascade of accolades, all before she had started secondary education, as well as a spot on her mom's record-breaking Renaissance World Tour - which saw her criticised for her moves. In 2023 she finally showcased her singing live on stage in Dubai with a duet with her mom who was making her return to the stage for the first time in four years. The one-hour set earned the pop superstar a reported $35 million. And Blue Ivy could challenge her mom's fortune if she is able to shake the nepo baby tag and deliver real talent. 'Blue Ivy could easily secure multi-million-dollar deals, lucrative brand partnerships, and significant earnings from streaming platforms and endorsements right from the start,' said PR expert Stacy Jones Founder and CEO, Hollywood Branded. 'Think Olivia Rodrigo or Billie Eilish, but amplified due to her family background. 'Could she become as big as Beyoncé? Honestly, that's an extraordinarily high bar, but if Blue Ivy delivers real talent, authenticity, and genuinely connects with fans, especially Gen Z, there's no reason she couldn't carve out her own substantial legacy.'

See Miley Cyrus' surprise duet with Beyoncé at 'Cowboy Carter' tour stop in Paris
Two of the brightest stars in music took the City of Lights by storm. Miley Cyrus joined Beyoncé's on her 'Cowboy Carter Tour' when she stopped by to perform their hit 'II Most Wanted' during Beyonce's June 19 show at Paris' Stade de France. Cyrus appeared to be in awe of the moment, as she posted multiple videos of them performing on Instagram. '@beyonce to be beside such a humble, gracious, legendary DIVA was a dream come true. Thank you for the opportunity to perform in Paris together & sing our song about friendship,' she captioned the post. 'To have learned from you & loved you my whole life, & then be standing together in matching gold looks is more than I could've imagined.' Cyrus then called out her new visual album, 'Something Beautiful,' while raving about the chance to sing with Beyoncé. 'As the finale to this trip supporting Something Beautiful, to close on something as beautiful as a stadium full of people singing '2 Most Wanted' with us was the ultimate firework,' she wrote. 'Thank you B. I'll be your shotgun rider for life. Big gratitude to the Cowboy Carter tour crew, you all were incredible for making this happen. Forever and always.' The love and admiration appears to be mutual. 'I love you. I'm so grateful to watch you and to sing with you, Miss Miley Cyrus,' Beyoncé said to Cyrus in one of the clips. 'II Most Wanted' was a smash, earning the Grammy Award for best country duo/group performance. Beyoncé also posted a series of photos on Instagram, including two of just Cyrus and two of them together sporting their gold outfits during the concert. She chose to let the images do the talking by not captioning the shots. Even Beyoncé's mother, Tina Knowles, was wowed by the duet, sharing a part of their performance on Instagram. 'I loved this part of the show Tonight!' she captioned the clip. '@mileycyrus and @beyonce sung one of my top three songs from Cowboy Carter Album that Miley wrote! ❤️❤️❤️ repost @beyhere.' Cyrus has previously said she and Beyoncé have a close relationship that includes them texting. 'I think it's a really cute part of our relationship, because over the past couple of years I've really locked down on my privacy and on what I share with the public,' she told W magazine in 2024. 'She's the same way. Part of our relationship is the safety between us.'

We asked 12 beauty experts to spill on their favourite beauty buys – some cost £450, others just £2
IN the wise words of Jessie J, it's not about the money where beauty buying is concerned. In fact, more than a third of Boots Advantage Card members shopped for both budget-friendly make-up and premium cosmetics in 2024, focusing their attention not on how much products costs but on what really works - not something that's always easy to work out. To find out where we should be spending our money, and what products we can save on, we asked 10 industry experts for their favourite budget beauty product, and the one they will shell out for. Tara Ledden, Beauty Editor 32 I'm a huge fan of high street beauty, as there are so many brilliant products lining the shelves today, you really don't have to spend loads to arm yourself with hard-working products. However, if I'm going to splurge, it's almost always on skincare. BUDGET BUY BUY NOW I talk about ARKIVE The Prologue Hair Primer, £ 4.50, on an almost daily basis. In fact, when I told Beauty Writer Mia that I was going to make it my budget pick, she replied: "I knew it!" immediately. It's super lightweight, yet it still dissolves tangles and manages to leave hair noticeably softer and more shiny - while also protecting it from heat - without leaving any residue behind. It's impossible to use too much, so if you have fine hair like me, you don't need to worry about it feeling dirty or limp. BLOWOUT BEAUTY Tatcha The Silk Cream, £123 BUY NOW I discovered Tatcha The Silk Cream, £123, in the Fabulous beauty cupboard over two years ago and started slathering it on my face. Within days, I was getting compliments on how good my skin looked, including one from a fellow beauty editor well versed in my history of acne, who exclaimed: "Your skin looks like porcelain!" before we'd even said hello. I'd used it for a week before I googled the price, and I instantly started using a tiny pea-sized amount to try to make the tub last longer, thinking I'd never be able to justify a repurchase. Unfortunately for my bank balance, I've not found a cheaper moisturiser that compares, and have since re-stocked multiple times. Jamie Genevieve, make-up artist and founder of V ieve 32 As a make-up artist, it doesn't get more fun than testing and trying new make-up launches. BUDGET BUY Byoma Hydrating Serum, £12.99 Everything from Byoma is simple, effective and fuss-free, with a super-accessible price point. Byoma Hydrating Serum, £12.99 gives skin a hit of hydration, making it great to use ahead of applying make-up. BLOWOUT BEAUTY I love my luxurious facials with facialists Olivia Francesca and Nichola Joss, whose clients have included Gwyneth Paltrow and I go to KMP Skin in London and Age Refined Glasgow for medical-grade treatments. Dr Christine Hall, aesthetics doctor and pharmacist 32 One product I never spend lots of money on is a cleanser, as you really don't need to. BUDGET BUY Beauty of Joseon Relief Sun Rice + Probiotics SPF 50, £15.50 The textures and finishes of Korean SPFs are unrivalled because they're so lightweight and non-greasy, plus they're often hybrid products. , offers premium protection and doubles up as a moisturiser. BLOWOUT BEAUTY Skinceuticals Silymarin CF Serum, £165 Skinceuticals Silymarin CF Serum, £165, is formulated with oily skin in mind and was genuinely a game-changer for me in terms of clearing my skin of breakouts. Mollie Burdell, beauty journalist and make-up artist 32 You don't need to spend much to create an exceptional skincare or make-up routine, but I'm also a real sucker for glitzy tools and gadgets. BUDGET BUY e.l.f cosmetics Soft Glam Satin Foundation, £8, is one of my favourite bases because it gives the most natural glow-giving coverage with minimal effort required, and works beautifully on all skin types. BLOWOUT BEAUTY 32 Dyson Supersonic r Hairdryer, £449.99 I first experienced the new Dyson Supersonic r Hairdryer, £449.99, at Larry King's salon, and I immediately knew I needed one for myself. It's nifty, lightweight and an absolute joy to use. Emily Lansley, celebrity manicurist, facialist and tanning expert 32 When adding to my beauty kit, I always keep prevention, protection and good gut health at the forefront of my mind. BUDGET BUY Boots Glow Gua Sha, £8.50 BUY HERE A gua sha, like Boots Glow Gua Sha, £8.50, is one of the best things you can use at home for lymphatic drainage - you'll see instant tightening results. BLOWOUT BEAUTY Slimyonik AIR Bodystyler treatments, from £99, is a body contouring and lymphatic drainage device. It supercharges your metabolism, reduces inflammation throughout your body and improves your skin and gut health from the inside out. Adam Reed, hairstylist and founder of Arkive Headcare 32 Creating and sticking to a routine is near impossible for my ADHD mind, so I make sure I keep things really simple. BUDGET BUY Nivea Soft Moisturising Cream, £2 I use Nivea Soft Moisturising Cream, £2, absolutely everywhere, and it's also a great base for making fragrances last. BLOWOUT BEAUTY I take weekly visits to the nail salon for a mani/pedi. My job is aggressive on my hands, so I really take care of them. Townhouse nail salon is my go-to. Katie Onyejekwe, aesthetician and skincare educator My beauty routine is simple, results-driven and efficacious. BUDGET BUY BUY HERE Rimmel Lasting Finish Lip Liner in Cappuccino, £3.99, is the perfect nude shade for my skin tone - once applied it really does stay put, which I find a lot of other liners don't. BLOWOUT BEAUTY Pure Lift Pro EMS tool, £674 I use Pure Lift Pro EMS tool, £674, in my facials, and occasionally on myself. It visibly lifts and helps to drain away water retention, leaving you looking sculpted. Iram Shelton, celebrity nail artist and lifestyle creator 32 I spend way more than average on beauty, but it's part of my job, so I see it as a business investment too! BUDGET BUY Maybelline Instant Anti-Age Eraser Concealer, £9.99 BUY HERE Maybelline Instant Anti-Age Eraser Concealer, £9.99, blends like a dream and has been in my make-up bag since my teenage years. Some things don't need to be expensive to work. BLOWOUT BEAUTY Dyson Airwrap, £479.99 BUY HERE My Dyson Airwrap, £479.99, was a major splurge, but it's the best way to achieve a salon-worthy blowout at home without frying my hair. Plus, the time it saves me makes it 100% worth it. Adeola Gboyega, make-up artist I'm not into products that are all packaging and no performance. If it doesn't get results or elevate my routine in some way, it's not worth the spend. BUDGET BUY NUXE Huile Prodigieuse Body Oil, £12.50 has a super-luxe scent for the price and I love how multi-use it is: body, hair, décolleté, even a few drops in the bath. BLOWOUT BEAUTY I believe in complementing my skincare routine with professional treatments. Injectables, chemical peels and laser treatments help with long-term skin health and make everyday maintenance so much easier. Jules Von Hep, beauty expert & author of The Confidence Ritual My beauty kit is brimming with different products dependent on season, day of the week, mood, age. Essentially more is more, less is a bore. BUDGET BUY V05 Wet Look Gel, £3.50 V05 Wet Look Gel, £3.50, is no frills, and creates slicked-back hair every time. BLOWOUT BEAUTY Matiere Premier Santal Austral, £165 for 50ml ED P is expensive. Estee Lalonde, content creator and founder of Mirror Water 32 Don't be swayed by trends – find what works best for you. Shopping with a list helps me to avoid impulse buys. BUDGET BUY BUY HERE Garnier Micellar Water, £5.49, is a ride-or-die for me.
