Chance Hymas injures knee in High Point Nationals incident
Chance Hymas dabbed his right knee on the final lap of Moto 2 of the High Point Nationals and will be evaluated this week. Honda HRC has not yet provided a timeline for his return. Tom Vialle passed Hymas on the final lap of the second race, and with that move, Hymas dropped to fourth in the overall standings. It is unlikely he would have been able to conduct his podium interview in any event. Hymas rode directly to the Honda HRC hauler and was helped off the bike. Advertisement Hymas has a history of ACL injuries, but his previous two knee injuries were to his left knee. "All we know right now is that his right knee, definitely something's going on there," Lars Lindstrom said on the SMX Insider post-race show. "Unfortunately, we know a lot about these injuries with the other riders that we've worked with and then, obviously, Jett [Lawrence] this year. so, I'm not really sure exactly, the prognosis, of course. It seems like the ACL seems intact, but we've said that before. So, right now, we just know that his right knee is definitely injured and we're going to have to go see a specialist and see exactly what is going on." Hymas won his second Pro Motocross overall the previous week with a perfect round in which he was fastest qualifier in both sessions, earned holeshots in both motos, and led every lap on his way to a 1-1 sweep. High Point did not go as well. Hymas finished fifth in the first moto before recovering to ride second in most of Moto 2. Advertisement "It was a rough day for me at High Point—I went 5-3 in the motos, but on the last lap of the second moto, I dabbed my good leg, and now I'm dealing with a lot of pain in my right knee," Hymas said in a news release. Motocross 2025 250 results, highlights, finish at Thunder Valley: Haiden Deegan completes third sweep
At High Point Raceway in Mount Morris, Pennsylvania, Haiden Deegan swept the weekend motos for the third time this season to extend his Pro Motocross and SuperMotocross Championship points lead. Deegan swept the first two weekends, but last week, Chance Hymas reset the bar with a perfect weekend. Not to be outdone, Deegan led all 33 laps of the two races, but failed to match Hymas' feat of earning both holeshots. Nate Thrasher earned the holeshot in Moto 1; Tom Vialle held that distinction in Moto 2. Of primary importance was the championship standings. Deegan now holds a 42-point lead over Jo Shimoda in Pro Motocross and a 100-point advantage over him in the combined SuperMotocross 250 standings. Click here for a recap of High Point Vialle has had an erratic season, and when he finished fourth in Moto 1, it appeared that would continue into the High Point weekend. He lost the lead in the second race, but firmly held onto a podium position and passed Hymas for second on the final lap. With those results, Vialle earned his second Nationals podium of 2025 after finishing 4-3 for third overall in the season opener in Pala, California. Levi Kitchen was third overall at High Point, but it was a tale of two motos. He rode to a solid second-place finish in Moto 1 before struggling to finish sixth in the second race. Fortunately for him, the next three riders were equally erratic. Relive Moto 1 Hymas had a strong start to his weekend with fast times in both qualification sessions, but he failed to live up to expectations when the gate dropped. A horrible start of 13th in Moto 1 forced him to ride through the pack, and he showed speed by climbing to fifth. He slotted into second on Lap 1 of Moto 2, but never seriously challenged the leader and lost that position with one lap remaining. Fifth place belonged to Garrett Marchbanks. No one would have given low odds for that happening after he finished seventh in Moto 1, but his fourth-place finish in the second race tied him in points with Shimoda. Marchbanks finished one position ahead of the Japanese rider to earn the tiebreaker. Shimoda showed consistency with a 6-5 to finish just outside the top five in sixth. Seth Hammaker had a solid start to the afternoon with his podium finish (third) in Moto 1. He faded in the second race and finished 14th, spoiling what had been a strong day. Haiden Deegan shrugs off last week, sweeps High Point motos for overall win
Haiden Deegan shrugged off his disappointing finish at Thunder Valley, where he had engine problems in Moto 1 and crashed in Moto 2, to dominate both races of the High Point Nationals in Mount Morris, Pennsylvania, to score the overall win. Tom Vialle scored his first overall podium of the season after finishing third in Moto 1 and second in the first race. Advertisement Levi Kitchen finished fourth with results of second in Moto 1 and sixth in Moto 2 and was elevated to the podium on the final lap after a crash for Chance Hymas. Hymas was unable to capitalize on his momentum from Colorado. He experienced trouble early in Moto 1 before climbing to fifth, but had a much better performance in the second race. He crashed on the final lap and finished third in Moto 2. That position cost him the overall podium, but the news may be worse as he points to his knee crossing the finish line. Garrett Marchbanks completed the top five with a 7-4. In-Race Notes Haiden Deegan got a wake-up call last week and decided that he needed stronger starts. He led Lap 1 in Moto 1 and jumped to the top of the leaderboard immediately in the second race. Advertisement Chance Hymas slotted into second, giving him an opportunity to see if he can ride with the leader. Tom Vialle was third on Lap 1. Meanwhile, Julien Beaumer crashed again after making a mistake in the first race. He headed back to the pits, bleeding from his mouth and nose. On Lap 2, fourth-place Jo Shimoda and Casey Cochran rounded out the top five. Shout out to Jalek Swoll; he was eighth on Lap 3. Deegan found his rhythm and stretched the lead to more than five seconds over Hymas on Lap 5. Vialle was six seconds further back in third as the best battle is outside the top five between Levi Kitchen, Garrett Marchbanks, and Seth Hammaker for sixth. Advertisement Swoll fell back to ninth. Shimoda crashed with 17 minutes on the clock. He fell to ninth. Marchbanks moved up to fourth with Shimoda's mistake after getting around Cochran. Swoll took eighth from Hammaker on Lap 8. Shimoda was up to seventh. Cochran gave up his top-five finish on Lap 8 after Kitchen made the pass for position. With the additional points for his second-place finish in Moto 1, Kitchen would have had the final podium position with this move — but Shimoda was charging after his crash. Shimoda passed Kitchen on Lap 11 and that changed the podium. Vialle moved into final spot with a fourth in Moto 1 and currently riding third. Advertisement Deegan won by more than 10 seconds over Hymas. Vialle rounded out the podium after finishing 7.8 seconds ahead of Marchbanks. Shimoda rounded out the top five.
