Justin Baldoni acquires rights to read Blake Lively-Taylor Swift's private chats

India Today3 days ago

A New York federal judge has ruled that actor-filmmaker Justin Baldoni can read the texts exchanged between Blake Lively and Taylor Swift related to the film 'It Ends With Us' controversy. This followed after Blake tried to stop Justin from accessing the messages, arguing that he was dragging Taylor into the lawsuit for publicity.According to a report by Variety, Judge Lewis Limam stated in his order that the messages could be critical to the case. 'A motion or request may be, and in this case often has been, both a legitimate litigation tactic and an attempt to manoeuvre in the broader court of public opinion,' he wrote.advertisementBlake's legal team contested that there was no reason to involve Taylor in the process and that she had nothing to do with the dispute. However, the judge also stated that Blake had already mentioned that Taylor was aware of discussions surrounding the work environment on set. This makes the text exchange potentially relevant to Blake's claim of harassment and retaliation.
Earlier, Justin's legal team asked Taylor and her lawyers for her input. Taylor's spokesperson said that the 'Fornight' singer has nothing to do with the film except for licencing a song. After getting the subpoenas blocked by Taylor's team, Justin's team withdrew them. The court also highlighted that a protective order remains in place to prevent private messages from being leaked to the media.Last year, in December, the 'Gossip Girl' star accused Justin and his publicists of launching a secret campaign to sully her online and in the press after she raised concerns about sexual harassment on set. Justin filed a countersuit, accusing Blake of defamation, which now stands dismissed. Must Watch

Lou Christie: 'Lightnin' Strikes' singer dies at 82

Lou Christie Lou Christie, the legendary singer of the 1966 hit single 'Lightnin' Strikes,' has passed away at 82. With his distinctive falsetto and drama-infused pop anthems, Christie's family announced his death on social media on Wednesday, according to Variety. The reason for death remains unknown, but the family reported he died after a brief illness. From rural roots to musical peaks Christie was born Lugee Alfredo Giovanni Sacco on February 19, 1943, in Glenwillard, a small village outside of Pittsburgh. Early life was simple, he was raised on a large 109-acre farm where chickens and pigs were everyday fare and worked at his father's pizzeria during adolescence. Looking back on his childhood in an interview with Classic Bands, he defined it as "an innocent time, an era where it actually was mom and pop and the Catholic Church for me. " Christie's love of music prompted him to take courses in voice and music at Moon Area High School, groundwork for a career that would before long produce shockwaves all over the pop charts. A voice that soared across decades Lou Christie burst onto the music scene in the early 1960s with Two Faces Have I, which climbed to No. 6 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1963. But it was Lightnin' Strikes, co-written with his longtime collaborator Twyla Herbert that catapulted him into superstardom. The song's bold falsetto and dynamic storytelling took it all the way to No. 1 in February 1966 becoming the defining hit of his career. Although his chart supremacy eased in the late 1960s, Christie had another top-10 U.S. hit with I'm Gonna Make You Mine in 1969 which also reached huge popularity in the UK, reaching No. 2. Genre shifts and musical resilience As pop mainstream flowed in new directions, Christie didn't depart, he merely changed. He experimented in country and adult contemporary, with his take on Beyond the Blue Horizon registering a small hit with the Adult Contemporary chart. Over the decades, he remained committed to his work and still gigging on the oldies circuit and cutting new songs well into the 2010s. A lasting legacy of melody and emotion Christie can be remembered for his hits but those closest to him also remember his kindness and devotion as a family man. He leaves behind his wife, Francesca Winfield and daughter, Bianca Christie. As listeners revisit his classic songs and recall his unforgettable falsetto, Lou Christie's music is a fond part of pop history, a sound that illuminated the radio then and continues to resonate now.

Pixar's Elio Set For Worst-Ever Domestic Debut With $9 Million At Box Office

Last Updated: Elio, Disney's animated film, is set for Pixar's lowest opening ever, earning $9 million from 3,750 locations, trailing Elemental's $29 million. Pixar's latest original, Elio, is on track to post the lowest opening weekend in the studio's history. According to Variety, the space-themed family adventure pulled in just $9 million from Friday and preview screenings across 3,750 locations. That's far below the $29 million debut of Elemental last year. At a $150 million production budget, Elio is now expected to finish its first weekend in third place domestically, with a modest $20–22 million range, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter. In contrast, Universal's How to Train Your Dragon live-action adaptation continues to dominate, looking at another strong weekend with roughly $35.7 million in its second run. Meanwhile, Danny Boyle's 28 Years Later topped Friday's box office charts with $14 million — including $5.8 million from Thursday previews — and is now projected to launch in the $30–31 million ballpark. Directed by Madeline Sharafian, Domee Shi, and Adrian Molina, Elio follows an 11-year-old boy who suddenly finds himself traveling through space and befriending aliens. As he explores strange planets, meets unusual lifeforms, and faces a cosmic crisis, Elio must discover what it truly means to belong and who he is meant to become. The voice cast includes Yonas Kibreab (Elio), Zoe Saldana, Remy Edgerly (as Glordon), Brandon Moon, Brad Garrett, and Jameela Jamil. Despite an 'A" grade from CinemaScore and solid critical reviews, Disney insiders have trimmed expectations to a $20–25 million opening. Here's the trailer: Last year's Elemental surprised critics and audiences alike, grossing some $500 million worldwide. Disney and Pixar are now banking on Elio to turn the tide this summer.
