British Anti-Genocide Activists Damage RAF Planes at Brize Norton Base
DayofPal– British Defence Secretary John Healey has launched a full investigation after two activists vandalized warplanes at the Royal Air Force (RAF) Brize Norton base in Oxfordshire.
The activists were protesting the UK's involvement in the war in Gaza, which they described as a genocide.
The protest, carried out by members of the group Palestine Action, took place early Friday morning. The activists entered RAF Brize Norton, the UK's largest airbase, and sprayed red paint on the engines of two Voyager aircraft.
They also reportedly used crowbars to inflict further damage. A video posted on X showed the activists riding scooters across the base and placing a Palestinian flag on the runway.
Defence Secretary Healey condemned the incident, calling it 'totally unacceptable,' and announced a full review of security at all UK military bases.
'I'm deeply concerned by what happened and have ordered a full investigation and a wider security review,' he said on social media.
The Ministry of Defence described the act as 'criminal damage' and confirmed that it is working with police as the investigation continues. Authorities stated that the incident did not disrupt flight operations or military planning.
Prime Minister Keir Starmer also denounced the action, labeling it a 'disgraceful act of sabotage.' His office said a broader security review across UK defence facilities is now underway.
RAF Brize Norton plays a crucial role in the UK's military operations, serving as a hub for air-to-air refueling and military transport. It also supports flights to RAF Akrotiri in Cyprus, the UK's main base in the Middle East.
Palestine Action said the protest was a response to the UK's continued military support for Israel amid the ongoing war in Gaza. In a statement, the group accused the British government of 'fueling genocide and war crimes,' despite public criticism of Israel's actions.
The activists claim that the UK continues to supply arms to Israel, operate surveillance flights over Gaza, and refuel US and Israeli aircraft. 'Britain isn't just complicit,' the group said. 'It's actively participating in the genocide in Gaza.'
This incident comes amid growing public protests across the UK and Europe over Western support for Israel. Since October 2023, more than 55,000 Palestinians have reportedly been killed in Gaza, with over 130,000 injured.
Most of the casualties are women and children. Thousands remain missing, and many more have been displaced. The region is also facing a severe hunger crisis due to Israel's blockade.
Palestine Action has previously targeted British arms companies and military contractors linked to Israel. The group argues that direct action is necessary to stop the UK's involvement in what it calls crimes against humanity.

On World Refugee Day: Hamas Says No Solution to Refugees Except Ending Occupation
DayofPal– The Hamas Movement affirmed that the global celebration of World Refugee Day, amid the ongoing war of extermination and starvation in Gaza, places the international community before political, legal, humanitarian, and moral responsibilities to put an end to the Israeli crimes. In a press statement issued on Friday, Hamas stated that this year's World Refugee Day comes at a time when the Israeli Zionist occupation is escalating its war of extermination and starvation against the people in Gaza, committing daily massacres and crimes against the displaced and starving refugees. Hamas added: 'The terrorist occupation government has turned relief operations for the starving into death traps and ambushes, where our Palestinian people are killed at the gates of the criminal American-Zionist-controlled checkpoints distributing humanitarian aid—in the most horrific forms of bloody revenge killings and violations of all international laws, norms, and humanitarian values.' The movement pointed out that the continued aggressive war by the Israeli occupation against refugee camps in the occupied West Bank, through systematic destruction and displacement, is a dangerous escalation in targeting the refugee issue. 'it's only an attempt to erase its features, as a prelude to liquidating our national cause. However, our people will not allow this and will stand as a formidable barrier against it,' it added. Hamas affirmed that the right of return for refugees to the homes they were displaced from by the Israeli occupation is an individual and collective right, recognized by international laws, charters, and UN resolutions. No one has the authority to relinquish, compromise, negotiate away, or abandon this right. The movement reiterated its rejection of all solutions aiming to erase the refugee issue or end the right of return. It also categorically rejected all Israeli attempts, supported by the U.S. administration, to abolish, obscure, or eliminate the role of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA), or to transfer its mandate to any other entity, especially in the distribution of aid and relief. Hamas emphasized the necessity for the agency, as a UN institution, to fully uphold its responsibilities in distributing aid, serving refugees, and providing them with necessary services. Federal Judge Orders Release of Palestinian Columbia Student Leader from ICE Detention
DayofPal– A federal judge has ordered the release of Mahmoud Khalil, a Palestinian student leader at Columbia University, after more than three months in U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detention. The decision comes amid mounting criticism over what civil liberties advocates are calling a politically motivated crackdown on pro-Palestinian activism. Khalil, a lawful permanent resident of the United States, was arrested in March by plainclothes ICE agents who entered his Columbia-owned residence without a warrant. The agents initially claimed that Khalil's visa had been revoked; when he informed them he held a green card, they said that had been revoked as well. His attorney, Amy Greer, who was on the phone during the arrest, demanded to see a warrant, ICE agents hung up on her instead. Following his arrest, Khalil was transferred over 1,000 miles to a detention center in Louisiana. Despite claiming Khalil was a flight risk, government officials admitted they had no warrant. Security footage from the arrest showed Khalil cooperating peacefully. On Friday, U.S. District Judge Michael E. But the judge found those claims insufficient to justify continued detention. During his time in custody, Khalil missed the birth of his first child and Columbia's graduation ceremonies. ICE denied his repeated requests to be relocated closer to his wife and newborn. Khalil is among several international students and academics arrested in a broader federal crackdown on anti-genocide and pro-Palestinian activism on U.S. campuses. Others swept up in similar arrests include Mohsen Mahdawi, Rümeysa Öztürk, and Badar Khan Suri. Their cases remain ongoing.
