Stray bullet hits Singapore cyclist near military live-firing zone
A 42-year-old man in
Singapore suffered a gunshot wound while cycling in a restricted forested area near where the city state's military was conducting a live-firing activity.
'A bullet slug was lodged in the man's left lower back,' the police said in a media release on Monday, adding that the injury was not life threatening.
The man was in a stable condition after surgery to remove the bullet slug, it said.
According to the police, the man had been cycling with his friends in a forested area of the Central Catchment Nature Reserve between Upper Seletar Reservoir and Upper Peirce Reservoir at around 11.40am on Sunday.
'The public is not allowed to access that particular area, which has signage warning against unauthorised entry into a live-firing area,' the police said.

Singapore bans Wild Rice's theatre performance for ‘glamorising' drug abuse
The Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) said on Friday it had banned a performance by theatre company Wild Rice for undermining Singapore 's anti-drug policy and public confidence in the Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB). A revised script for a dramatised reading, titled 'Homepar', was submitted on June 5, with IMDA assessing it to be in breach of the Arts Entertainment Classification Code (AECC). This was done in consultation with the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), it added. IMDA noted that the revised script had 'substantially changed' from the version that was submitted on April 21. 'The new material depicts and glamorises drug abuse and portrays an undercover CNB officer shielding abusers from detection,' it said. 'It undermines Singapore's anti-drug policy, our drug rehabilitation regime, and public confidence in the CNB. Performances that undermine Singapore's national interest are not permitted under the AECC.' IMDA said it had previously informed Wild Rice that the earlier script submitted met classification requirements and could be staged under an R18 rating.

Truck driver, 49, arrested after fatal bus-stop crash in Hong Kong
The driver of a truck involved in a recent fatal crash has been apprehended, the Post has learned, marking the second arrest in connection with the accident. Advertisement A source said on Wednesday that officers arrested the 49-year-old man over dangerous driving causing death. The suspect, a resident of Indian descent, allegedly drove the truck that rammed into a bus stop on Chatham Road North on Tuesday morning. A woman, 50, died after getting trapped beneath the truck, while a 33-year-old woman suffered injuries to the left side of her pelvis, knees and right palm. The truck driver had fled the scene after the crash. Advertisement On Tuesday, police arrested a 34-year-old man in connection with the crash. The Post has learned he is the owner of the truck and that he is still in police custody as of Wednesday afternoon.
