
Man who threatened to harm sister with knife in Kuala Baram jailed 10 months

MIRI (June 11): The Magistrates' Court here today sentenced a man to 10 months in jail for threatening to hurt his younger sister using a knife last month.
Magistrate Ashok Linggam imposed the sentence on Zulqimi Sulaiman of Kampung Batu Satu in Kuala Baram after he pleaded guilty to a charge of criminal intimidation, framed under Section 506 of the Penal Code.
The Section provides for a jail term of up to two years or a fine, or both, upon conviction.
The offence was committed at the family's home in Kampung Batu Satu at around 3.15pm on May 16.
According to the charge, Zulqimi pointed a knife towards his sister while threatening to cause injury to her and others.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Luqman Hakim Sahrol Bahar prosecuted the case, while the accused was unrepresented.
