Presley Chweneyagae: Mourners gathered at Mmabatho like they did in 2018 for HHP
Referring to Chweneyagae by his local nickname, Tobetsa, Makapan said the late actor was a people's person.

In his welcome note at the memorial service of actor Presley Chweneyagae, the mayor of Mahikeng, Tshepiso Mphehlo, reflected on the pinnacle of the province's art scene when Tsosti was released.
'That period was a pinnacle period for the arts and culture in Mahikeng,' shared Mphehlo.
The memorial service is being held at the Mmabatho Convention Centre for the late 40-year-old actor, who passed away a week ago.
This is the first of two memorial services expected this week. The other service will be held at Pretoria's State Theatre on Thursday for his friends and industry colleagues who are based in Gauteng.

'Like we did for HHP'
The mayor said that when the Oscar-winning film Tsotsi was released in 2005, Motswako — a rap style that blends Setswana rap lyrics with English — was at its height, with artists like HHP and Tuks in their prime.
'For us as youngsters, this provided hope. We had believed that challenges in our background could be overcome. We knew through their rise to stardom that we too will be called for greatness,' said the mayor, mentioning other artists from the province like Mo Molemi, among others.
'Today, like we did in 2018, in this very hall for HHP, we are gathered here to bid farewell once again to a torchbearer of hope. Through the decades, we've seen him illuminate our TV screens with talent.'
Real name Jabulani Tsambo, HHP died of suicide in 2018.

'A people's person'
Friend and former Generations actor Rantebeng Makapan was one of the speakers on the day.
Referring to Chweneyagae by his local nickname, Tobetsa, Makapan said the late actor was a people's person.
'Tobetsa was able to gather people. Tobetsa was a people's person. There are many people who wanted to get this opportunity to speak about their experience with Tobetsa, but did not have the opportunity to come here.
'It's not that you were undermined [or] ignored…it's just that the programme was set the way it was. I wasn't even supposed to be standing here, the person who was meant to stand here was unable to attend,' said Makapan.
The actor, whom many viewers will remember as Thomas on Generations, said he spent most of his time with Chweneyagae in Pretoria, where they first met after being introduced by a mutual friend.
'Even through the pain we're feeling right now, we all know he made us laugh. He was a people's person who was able to be, [to] chill with us. He didn't care to chill at a five-star place, even if we chilled under the tree, he never judged people.'
Makapan said he went to Chweneyagae's house after the news broke of his passing, and that the deceased's wife said he should be celebrated instead of mourned.
'He did so many things for us to come here and cry for him.'

SPCA releases captured baboon back into the wild
After a safe capture and full health check, the young male baboon sighted in Claremont on Friday has now been released into the Tokai area. The Tokai area represents a far more suitable environment where he has the best chance of integrating with a troop and continuing his natural dispersal journey. The SPCA confirmed that its team, along with the Cape Baboon Partnership, stayed with him from first sighting to final release. The SPCA confirmed the the male baboon that was on the loose in the southern suburbs in Cape Town has been captured and will be released into its natural habitat. In a Facebook post on Saturday, the SPCA confirmed that after a tense day of tracking and multiple evasions, they were relieved to share a positive outcome for the young dispersing male baboon spotted in Claremont and surrounding suburbs. 'Early this morning, our team, working alongside the Cape Baboon Partnership and a wildlife veterinarian, returned to the area where he had slept the previous night. 'The baboon was successfully darted, given a full health assessment, and is en route to be safely released into his natural roaming territory. 'This outcome gives him the best chance to continue his natural dispersal without facing the many dangers posed by urban environments. 'Baboons do not belong in residential areas. Urban spaces are filled with threats: roads, fences, domestic pets, and people. While sightings may seem exciting, these moments are stressful and dangerous for wildlife.' The SPCA expressed its gratitude to all those involved in the capture and release of the animal, and also issued a reminder that baboons remain a protected species. 'A heartfelt thank you to the community for your cooperation and care, and to every member of the response team who worked tirelessly to ensure his safety. It began to go viral after it was shared by the South Africa Instagram account – a page that regularly publishes South African travel content. While some baboon encounters in the area have lead to conflict, this moment offered a rare example of coexistence, with a human stepping in to ensure the baboons aren't hit by cars. Chacma baboons ( Papio ursinus ) are native to Southern Africa. They are commonly found in the Cape Peninsula, where they often come into contact with humans. The chacma is like all other baboons – from the Old World monkey family – and is one of the largest of all primates. The species is highly adaptable and frequently ventures into urban and residential areas in search of food. As human development pushes up the mountain into their natural habitat, the animals are increasingly entering plush properties to forage in gardens and take the pickings from bins. Local changemakers bring big-screen joy to Alexandra
For a few hours on Friday evening, the township of Alexandra shed its usual shadows of hardship, poverty, and crime, and came alive with community spirit. Just near the intersection of Thoko Ngoma and Far Eastbank streets, children gathered for a movie night hosted by The Eye Pictures 1920, in partnership with the Stepping Tennis Foundation. I have watched the movie, it made me laugh, and I wished to enjoy it with others,' said Siyabonga 'Makwera' Twala, of The Eye Pictures 1920. It was the fourth screening in this initiative by The Eye Pictures 1920, but the first one in collaboration with the Stepping Tennis Foundation. Twala's inspiration traces back to a cherished memory from 2010, when he and his friends would watch cartoons together on a big screen at a park in Eastbank. 'Coming back from school we would go there and watch Cartoon Network. We first saw Phineas and Ferb there.' It was this nostalgia that sparked his mission to recreate those moments, offering the children of Alexandra their own version of that joy. Stepping Tennis member Sibusiso 'Scuba Ray' Shongwe resonated with the vision. 'Siyabonga wanted to give back to the less privileged. It is not everyone who knows this cinema setting. So, my friend wanted to bring it to the township.' Shongwe, who is a long-time supporter of the initiative, added that since he works with children, he also wanted to give them something magical. In a township often overlooked because of its challenges, a projector, and a bit of heart from two local changemakers, turned an ordinary street into a place of unity and laughter.
