Janeshwar Mishra Park to give city the thrills, adventure rides

Are you looking for some adrenaline rush? If so, and provided that you live in the city, then you do not have to look far and wide, as Janeshwar Mishra Park (JMP) in Gomti Nagar may soon become your perfect getaway.
Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) has set the ball rolling for a 15-metre-high multi-activity tower for adventure sports near JMP's Gate 4. The facility, when in operation, is likely to offer activities such as zip-line, sky-cycling, wall climbing and bungee jumping. Also, rifle shooting, archery, roller-coaster ride, giant swing and bull ride may entice the thrill-seekers.
LDA vice-chairman Prathamesh Kumar inspected the park on Wednesday and directed officials to complete the project within three months. Spread across 1.5 acres, the zone will also include two canteens and paved pathways to ensure easy access for visitors. The project aims to provide the townsfolk with more recreational options and attract tourists by turning the park into an adventure hub.
Also, LDA will build a new pedestrian bridge over the water body, connecting the rose garden and the national flag area. During the inspection, Kumar noted that visitors currently face inconvenience due to the long detour. He asked for an attractive bridge design to be prepared by a consultant.
Kumar also expressed dissatisfaction with poor cleanliness in the park. He reprimanded the officials concerned and summoned a report from the agency responsible.
Meanwhile, to enhance the city's riverfront experience, LDA is developing a food court near Marine Drive along the Gomti Riverfront. Ten shops are being constructed under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model. Kumar instructed that the work be completed within a month so that the food court can be opened to the public at the earliest.
In addition to land-based activities, the city is also gearing up to offer water sports. LDA is conducting trial runs of jet skis, speed boats, and motor boats at the Laxman Mela site on the Gomti. During his inspection, the VC directed the agency concerned to prioritise public safety and ensure that basic facilities like a food kiosk, office/waiting area, and proper parking were made available before the launch of full operations.

The revised amount will be disbursed starting July and is set to benefit over 10.9 million people across the state under the Social Security Pension Scheme. 'I am happy to inform you that under the Social Security Pension Scheme, all the elderly, disabled and widowed women will now get a pension of ₹1,100 instead of ₹400 every month,' said Chief Minister Kumar. 'All the beneficiaries will get pension at the increased rate from the month of July. It will be ensured that this amount is sent to the account of all the beneficiaries on the 10th of the month. Stressing the government's commitment to welfare and social equity, Kumar stated, 'The elderly are a precious part of society and ensuring their dignified living is our top priority. The state government will continue to make efforts in this direction.' The hike marks a nearly threefold increase and comes at a critical political juncture as Bihar heads to Assembly elections later this year. With the Janata Dal (United) and its allies in the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) aiming to fortify their electoral base, the announcement is being seen as a targeted measure to reach out to vulnerable segments of the population. In another administrative push towards decentralised governance, the Bihar government has also expanded financial powers under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA). Now, village heads (mukhiyas) have been authorised to sanction development schemes worth up to ₹10 lakh, doubling the previous cap of ₹5 lakh.

Most AI tools 'hallucinate'; not meant for Indian MSMEs : Vexoo Labs

Most artificial intelligence systems suffer from the flaw of 'hallucination' and are not meant for India's small enterprises in manufacturing sector, deep-tech company Vexoo Labs has said and claimed its AI solutions are for the "real world". "The focus on factual accuracy is both rare and crucial," said Ajay Kumar, Senior Business Leader, AI Evangelist and a Board Advisor at Vexoo Labs. He said most AI tools today are built for showcase, not for reliability. In the industrial alleys of Rajkot, the looms of Tiruppur, and the machining units of Coimbatore, India's small and mid-sized manufacturers are facing a silent crisis, he noted. "It's not rising input costs or labour shortages alone - it's the growing complexity of data, and the absence of any reliable AI system to help make sense of it," Kumar told PTI on the sidelines of Super AI, a mega exhibition and conference held June 18-19. According to Kumar, despite the global boom in artificial intelligence, "most systems on the market today suffer from a dangerous flaw: hallucinations confidently delivering factually incorrect information". "For India's MSMEs, where decisions have direct operational and financial consequences, this isn't just a flaw, it's a liability," he added. He further said that even at global AI showcases like Super AI, dozens of platforms claim to be transformative. But behind the gloss lies a glaring truth most are built atop general-purpose language models that continue to hallucinate. "While the world chases scale and speed, accuracy has quietly fallen through the cracks," he said, adding, Vexoo Labs' reasoning-first architecture, compact models, and local execution capabilities make it especially relevant for Tier-II and Tier-III cities, where India's manufacturing momentum truly lies. He said the company's focus on trustworthy AI for real-world India is already resonating across enterprise and public sector conversations. "We didn't set out to build a shinier chatbot. We set out to solve the core flaw in AI itself hallucinations," added Aditya Vardhan, Co-Founder of Vexoo Labs. "Manufacturers in Ludhiana, Surat or Bhiwadi shouldn't have to rely on guesswork. They deserve AI that answers clearly, correctly, and fast and that's what we're building at Vexoo Labs," Vardhan explained. He said as India eyes to become a USD 5-trillion economy, the "real digital leap may not come from big cities or billion-parameter models, but from trust-first intelligence deployed deep within India's industrial backbone".

I-T's benami unit attaches 170 acre of land in MP linked to private firm

Bhopal: In a major crackdown on alleged benami transactions , the Benami Prohibition Unit of the Income Tax department has provisionally attached 170 acres of land in Rewa district, Madhya Pradesh, under Section 24(3) of the Prohibition of Benami Property Transactions (PBPT) Act, 1988. The attached land is part of a larger block of approximately 700 acres across 112 khasras, originally purchased in 2011 for Rs 10.35 crore. The transactions were made in the names of Kardam Mishra and Ajay Kumar — both salaried employees of a wholly-owned subsidiary firm of a major private company. According to the department's findings, Mishra and Kumar were employees with nominal salaries, and their financial profiles did not support such a substantial investment in immovable property. During investigation, Mishra admitted under oath that the properties were purchased by senior officials of the private company in their names. A forensic financial analysis revealed that payments to the original landowners were made directly from the company's bank accounts. Subsequently, these properties were registered in the name of Prosperous Energy Pvt. Ltd. Meanwhile, the "consideration amount" was shown as routed through the bank accounts of Mishra and Kumar, only to be transferred back to the company in multiple tranches, indicating a classic case of layered benami transactions. The Income Tax department has determined that the real ownership and beneficial use of these properties rested with the private company and its subsidiary. This arrangement falls squarely under the definition of a "benami transaction" as per Section 2(9)(A) of the PBPT Act. A show-cause notice under Section 24(1) has been served to both the benamidars and the beneficial owners. Adding another layer to the case, it was discovered that the company had secured a short-term loan of Rs 925 crore from IDBI Bank by mortgaging these properties, along with others belonging to private firm. Due to default in repayment, IDBI Bank auctioned several of these properties. However, 46 khasras, covering approximately 170 acres, remained unsold and have now been provisionally attached to prevent any further alienation. Further proceedings under the PBPT Act are underway.
