Texas A&M's 2026 recruiting class will be well-represented on the big stage later this month, as four-star quarterback commit Helaman Casuga and four-star Edge rusher Jordan Carter have been invited to compete in the annual Rivals Five-Star event in Indianapolis, Indiana, on June 23-24.
Casuga received his invitation on Thursday, while Carter announced that he will head to the Colts Stadium on Friday. This is an impressive feat for Coach Mike Elko and his staff, considering that both players are committed to the program, including Carter's announcement via TexAgs that he has likely shut down his recruitment after his official visit to Texas A&M last weekend.
Rival Five-Star is a chance for the top 100 players in the 2026 cycle to compete at the highest level and showcase their elite skillsets to help solidify their standing as the best prospects at their respective positions. Casuga's 6,475 yards and 60 touchdowns during his first two high school seasons booked his ticket, while Carter's 62 tackles, 13 sacks, and 17 tackles for loss during his 2024 junior season are equally eye-popping.
According to Rivals, Carter is currently positioned as the 146th-ranked prospect in the 2026 cycle, the 13th-ranked defensive end, and the 19th-ranked prospect in Georgia.
Standing at 6'4" and over 230 pounds, Carter's length and elite first step have made him one of the more feared pass rushers in Georgia, and should continue to rise in the recruiting rankings after his 2025 senior season. Knowing Texas A&M's success in developing defensive linemen, it's no surprise that Carter is excited to join the Aggie ranks.

LaVar Ball wants his sons to play for the Lakers
When the Los Angeles Lakers drafted University of California, Los Angeles guard Lonzo Ball with the No. 2 pick in the 2017 NBA Draft, it meant that his father, LaVar, would be front and center. The elder Ball, who played college basketball and had a brief pro football career, was essentially a hype man for his son, as well as the CEO of Big Baller Brand, a clothing and sneaker manufacturer. He was a key reason the Lakers drafted Lonzo Ball in 2017, and he even visited the Ball clan in Chino Hills just prior to that year's draft. He has also been involved with Walter since 2012 as part of the group that owns the Los Angeles Dodgers. Under their leadership, the Dodgers have had a tremendous amount of success, which includes two World Series championships in 2020 and 2024. Lonzo Ball has had lots of trouble staying healthy since coming into the NBA. As a member of the Chicago Bulls, he suffered a meniscus tear in January 2022, and although he was initially expected to miss up to eight weeks, he ended up being out of action for nearly three calendar years. He ultimately underwent multiple surgical procedures as a result of the injury. Although he returned to action on Nov. 27, 2024, he only played in 35 games afterward. For the season, he averaged 7.6 points, 3.4 rebounds and 3.3 assists in 22.2 minutes a game while shooting 36.6% from the field.

Texas A&M Softball adds depth, eyes return to host Regionals in 2026
Texas A&M's softball season came to an abrupt end in the Bryan-College Station Regional, despite being picked as one of the favorites to reach the NCAA Women's College World Series. To add insult to injury, SEC newcomer Texas won its first World Series in program history while A&M watched from home. After some time for reflection, which Coach Ford admitted was difficult, she knew she needed to hit the portal to replace lost production and solidify the infield. In a surprise to fans, Texas A&M star utility player Amari Harper entered the portal for her final season. Harper, one of the last recruits from Jo Evans who remained after Ford took over, understandably wanted to test the waters. Outside of Harper, the Aggies had a relatively quiet portal season with only a few departures. Coach Ford, however, is focused on improvement, bringing in a handful of talented players that include an NCAA career leader in saves and a Golden Glove winner. Below are the current transfers Aggie fans can expect to see at Davis Diamond for the 2026 season. Luke Weaver allows go-ahead homer in Yankees' 5-3 loss to Orioles after being activated from IL
Associated Press NEW YORK (AP) — Luke Weaver felt fine about everything in his return for the New York Yankees — except the fastball Ramon Urias hit for a go-ahead homer in the eighth inning. Weaver was activated from the injured list Friday, but his first game back from a strained left hamstring was spoiled when Urías poked a full-count 96.4 mph fastball into the first row of the right field seats for the Baltimore Orioles. 'I feel great,' Weaver said after taking the loss in the Yankees' 5-3 defeat. 'The only thing that hurts is my heart and mind. So, at the end of the day, my leg feels great. The velocity's there. All the pitches are there. So, I had everything I needed to be successful. It's just a game which (it) didn't happen.' After jogging in from the bullpen to the 'Imperial March' from Star Wars and Gary Wright's 'Dreamweaver,' Weaver got ahead with his fastball and changeup. He threw two changeups to even the count and another fastball for a full-count. On the next pitch, Urías hit a 337-foot jump that just went over the leaping try of Aaron Judge and deflected off a fan's shirt in the first row. Following the homer, Weaver struck out Colton Cowser but walked Gary Sanchez and allowed a single to pinch-hitter Ryan O'Hearn. After Dylan Carlson lined out, Tim Hill allowed a RBI single to pinch-hitter Gunnar Henderson. Weaver gave up two runs and two hits in two-thirds of an inning. It was the third homer allowed in 25 appearances for the right-hander, who missed 17 games. 'I don't think that far off,' Yankees manager Aaron Boone said of Weaver. 'They just took advantage of some pitches.' Weaver was injured while warming up before a game against the Los Angeles Dodgers on June 1 at Dodger Stadium. After being placed on the injured list, the Yankees thought Weaver might be out until early July or through the All-Star break. Instead, Weaver began feeling better quickly and said the pain disappeared shortly after the injury. He took his final steps in his rehab by throwing a simulated game Tuesday after throwing three side sessions. Weaver has a 1.71 ERA with eight saves in nine opportunities in 25 appearances. He ascended into the closer's role by converting six saves in seven chances after Devin Williams posted an 11.25 ERA in his first 10 appearances and was removed from that spot on April 27. 'I kind of look at (it) with him and Devin like we got two elite guys back there, obviously with how well Devin's been throwing the ball the last month,' Boone said Friday before the game. A 31-year-old who can become a free agent after the season, Weaver supplanted Clay Holmes as closer last September. From May 20-22, Weaver became the first Yankees pitcher to make appearance on three consecutive regular-season days since Aroldis Chapman in September 2021 — though Weaver's first outing in that stretch lasted just two pitches, and the three totaled 18. Williams converted all four save chances while Weaver was injured and has a 1.76 ERA in his last 16 appearances since May 5. The Yankees cleared room for Weaver by optioning Jayvien Sandridge to Triple-A Scranton Wilkes/Barre.
