Several people dead in a shooting at a school in the Austrian city of Graz

VIENNA — Several people were killed at a school in the Austrian city of Graz on Tuesday, authorities said. Police said they deployed to the school after shots were heard there.
The Interior Ministry said there were several fatalities but did not specify how many. Police said there were also injuries, without specifying a number. There was no immediate information on the status or identity of the perpetrator.
Special forces were among those sent to the BORG Dreierschutzengasse high school after a call at 10 a.m. At 11.30 a.m., police wrote on social network X that the school had been evacuated and everyone had been taken to a safe meeting point.
They wrote that the situation was 'secured' and there is no longer believed to be any danger.
Graz, Austria's second-biggest city, is located in the southeast of the country and has about 300,000 inhabitants.

EPS officer charged with assault after man had nose broken during arrest: ASIRT
Update: Const. Alexander Doduk was found not guilty in June 2025. An Edmonton Police Service officer has been charged with assault after an investigation by the Alberta Serious Incident Response Team (ASIRT). ASIRT was directed on Nov. 26, 2019, after the EPS officer allegedly used a baton during an arrest, resulting in a broken nose. As a result of the investigation, ASIRT found that there were reasonable grounds to believe that a crime had been committed, and forwarded the investigation to the Alberta Crown Prosecution Service (ACPS). After being advised by ACPS that the evidence met the standards for prosecution, ASIRT's executive director, Michael Ewenson, determined that the officer should be charged. On Wednesday, Const. Alexander Doduk was charged with assault with a weapon and assault causing bodily harm. He is scheduled to appear in court on Oct. 11. ASIRT is directed to investigate police matters that include serious injury or death to any person, as well as allegations of police misconduct.

Police are asking the family of a man who was found sitting along Highway 417 in Ottawa to come forward. (OPP/ X) The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is asking the family of a man who was found sitting along Highway 417 in Ottawa on Friday to come forward. He was found sitting along the highway westbound, near the March and Eagleson roads exit. Police say the man was taken to hospital as he 'may have experienced some form of medical episode.' Officers add that no identification was found on him, noting that he was not able to communicate with them. They add that there are no missing person reports matching his description. He is described as approximately 50-year-old. At the time he was found he was wearing blue jeans, a black t-shirt and a dark grey sweater with black/red shoes.
