Stoltman brothers help make NFL Draft history as New York Jets put Scotland on the map
New York Jets created American football history at Loch Ness yesterday - with help from the Stoltman Brothers. For the first time, a selection in the NFL Draft was announced from Scotland. Aldourie Castle was the stunning setting as the 'World's Strongest Brothers', from Invergordon, made the major reveal. Their fanbase's nickname is Gang Green but the Rangers-supporting Stoltmans were thrilled to join the Jets' effort. Luke and Tom announced linebacker Francisco Mauigoa from Miami as the Jets' fifth-round choice. NFL teams add players from college ranks to their squad for the upcoming season at the annual jamboree. Yesterday was the third and final day of the 2025 draft, hosted by Green Bay. However, the Jets have UK and Ireland marketing rights through the NFL's Global Markets Program and previously declared picks from London and Dublin. The Stoltmans are sure to take an eager interest after paving the way to the lucrative big-time for a young athlete yesterday. Luke, 40, said: 'Of course, we'll be keen to hear how he gets on. I love the concept behind the draft picks. 'I can't imagine how it must feel, as a young player, waiting to hear your name not knowing where in the country you'll end up.' Tom, 30, three-time winner of 'World's Strongest Man', added: 'We have the kit now - and the specially-made Jets tartan kilts. 'They can come to us for some off-season training; we'll get them in shape!' The Jets are on the rebuild through the draft following a five-win season in 2024. Offensive tackle Armand Membou was first pick, followed by tight end Mason Taylor and cornerback Azareye'h Thomas. Jets, Cleveland Browns and UK regulars Jacksonville Jaguars will play 'home' fixtures in London in 2025, while Dublin hosts a Pittsburgh Steelers game. Jets vice-president of finance and analytics, John MacCarter, is keen for his club to be embraced by Scotland and open to moving an NFL match here. He said: 'This is something the league office handles, but we'd be honoured to be considered if they can get there. 'Announcing a draft pick from an iconic Scottish location has been great. 'We want to introduce Scots to American football culture and what the Jets are all about. 'What I love about Scottish sports is the rivalries - like the Old Firm. As best I can tell, that began 71 years BEFORE the Jets started! 'But that doesn't mean we haven't created amazing rivalries ourselves. 'We play the other three teams in our division a lot, so there's plenty room for animosity. I can't wait to introduce that to Scottish fans.'

Calvin Bassey was sold to Ajax for a fee north of £18million in 2023, and Raskin still has two years remaining on his current deal. New Rangers head coach Russell Martin wants to build his team around Raskin and is making a pitch for the player to sign a bumper new contract with improved financial terms. Doing so would put the Ibrox side in a strong negotiating position should Wolves, Aston Villa or indeed another club come calling. According to the Daily Record, Wolves have been tracking Raskin for 18 months and despite a summer of upheaval at Molineux, he remains high on their list of summer transfer targets. Midlands rivals Villa have also been credited with interest in the midfielder, a move that could see him link up with Scotland hero John McGinn. Raskin joined for £1.7m Gers in 2023 as Michael Beale's second signing of the January transfer window that year. The player himself has publicly said he wants to stay with Rangers. He was asked about his future and his thoughts on a new boss at the end of last season. And Raskin said: "I've been enjoying myself this season and it's not so often that you can enjoy yourself at a club. "I like Barry [Ferguson], but it's not my decision. "The thing is we need to be successful next season. So it's going to be who's coming in and how do we do that? How do we be successful? "Barry's been great for me and my statistics can show it. I've been much more efficient and going forward for the team. "So Barry's been great for me. I think he's a great guy. "It's going to be a big change in the summer. So who knows what's going to happen? I don't know. "So let's just wait and see." Lyall Cameron to miss start of Rangers pre season as transfer recruit suffers early Ibrox injury blow
The midfielder has only just made his move to the Glasgow giants from Dundee Lyall Cameron is set to miss Rangers ' return to pre-season. The new summer is struggling with a minor calf injury. The issue is not serious but will stop him starting pre-season with Russell Martin 's first-team squad. The midfielder will spend the next week or so in recovery with the physios and Ibrox medical team. Luckless Cameron is believed to have suffered the issue doing additional extra training to keep him ticking over. The 22-year-old has been Rangers' only signing of the summer so far. He has arrived from Dundee on freedom of contract, although the Dark Blues are entitled to training compensation. Nico Raskin a Wolves transfer target as prize Rangers asset's Ibrox exit stance revealed
The Light Blues could cash in on the diminutive midfielder - and the Premier League outfit are waiting to pounce Wolves are set to enter the bidding for long term target Nico Raskin if Rangers decide to cash in on the Belgian international this summer. Record Sport can reveal the Premier League outfit have been closely tracking Raskin's progress at Ibrox for more than 18 months and that the player's advisers have been aware of the interest from the start. And Raskin's name remains high on a list of possible transfer targets this summer despite a major recent overhaul of the management structure at Molineux. Italian Dominico Teti has been installed as the club's technical director as part of a leadership shake-up which also saw Matt Hobbs lose his job as sporting director. Hobbs had originally identified Raskin as a potential future recruit but even though he has now moved on from his role Wolves remain keen on the 24-year-old. Former Everton defender Matt Jackson, who was part of the former regime, has been promoted to a new position as director of player recruitment and development. And it's understood Jackson also believes Raskin is ready to make the step up to England's top flight. Aston Villa have been linked with a possible big money offer for the midfielder this summer but Wolves are unlikely to allow their Midlands rivals to get the jump on them after keeping tabs on Raskin for so long. The former Standard Liege player burst into Belgium's national side towards the end of last season and his impact on the international stage has attracted a range of clubs including Porto, Marseille and Fiorentina. But Raskin has been aware of the possibility of a move to Wolves since the initial interest was expressed in January 2024 and the player believes his next move will be to England's top flight. Raskin has two years left on his Rangers contract and it's understood new head coach Russell Martin has earmarked him as a key man in the club's latest summer rebuild. Recently appointed sporting director Kevin Thelwell is believed to be preparing a bumper new wage packet in the hope of extending Raskin's current deal but Rangers may have to consider offers if the player chooses not to put pen to paper.
