Actors Akshay Kumar and Vishnu Manchu are all set for the release of their upcoming mythological film titled Kannappa. Directed by Mohan Kumar Singh, the film will follow the story of Kannappa (Manchu), who was a devout follower of Lord Shiva (Akshay Kumar). During the promotions for the film, the duo sat down for an interview where they talked about the plethora of stories available in the country and how Hollywood takes a lot of inspiration from these tales. They listed out some specific instances of when the West borrowed ideas and narratives that originated in India.
While talking to Bollywood Hungama, the duo was asked whether all the stories present in the country were getting a stage or a medium to be shared. Akshay agreed with the fact that the country and its history have an immense bank of stories to pull from, and in many cases, creators from the West have reached into that bank and taken some stories for themselves. Akshay said, 'There are so many stories here, and I personally believe that Hollywood takes a lot from our stories. Their superheroes and their superpowers are all inspired by our mythology. The kind of stories we have is unbelievable, like I didn't know the story behind Kannappa before the film.'

Manchu added to this and said, 'Even Star Wars has been inspired by Mahabharat, and E.T actually came from a script written by Satyajit Ray.' Ray admitted in an interview that his original script had been making the rounds of L.A. for some time, and suddenly one day they announced E.T., which was very similar to his story.' What Manchu is presumably referring to is a script titled 'The Alien', which was written by Satyajit Ray. While Steven Spielberg, who directed E.T., never admitted to plagiarism, it is believed that the unproduced film was the inspiration behind one of Spielberg's most sought-after works of cinema.
During the interview, Akshay also commented on the Hera Pheri 3 situation and stated that he was positive that the movie will get made and that he is keeping his fingers crossed.
Kannappa is being helmed by Mohan Kumar Singh, and the cast of the film includes Akshay Kumar, Vishnu Manchu, Prabhas, Mohanlal, Preity Mukhundan, Mohan Babu, and Kajal Aggarwal. It will release on June 27 and will have to compete with Brad Pitt's F1, which will be releasing just two days prior.

Sonakshi Sinha recalls ghostly experience at home: It was a harmless ghost — possibly

After captivating audiences with her performance in Sanjay Leela Bhansali 's Heeramandi, Sonakshi Sinha is now preparing for the release of her upcoming paranormal thriller Nikita Roy. While promoting the film, the actress revealed a spine-chilling personal experience with the supernatural — an incident so unsettling that it made her question her long-standing disbelief in ghosts. Sonakshi Sinha's Paranormal Encounter at Home In a candid conversation with Bollywood Hungama, Sonakshi Sinha admitted that she never believed in ghosts or anything supernatural—until a disturbing incident at her own home completely shook her beliefs. What she once dismissed as fiction suddenly felt all too real, leaving her questioning everything she thought she knew. 'I used to not believe. I used to not believe at all," she said. 'But one day, something very weird happened to me in my house. Since then, I've been a little shaken. But after that, nothing happened, so I thought, maybe it was a dream? It was a harmless ghost — possibly." Encounter at 4 AM Sonakshi shared that the incident happened around 4 in the morning, when she was half asleep and half awake. 'I was in that stage where your eyes are shut but your mind is alert. Suddenly, I felt this pressure, like someone was trying to wake me up. I was terrified. I just froze. I didn't open my eyes. I couldn't move. I stayed like that till morning — I didn't open my eyes until the lights came on. It really shook me up." The experience had such a strong impact on Sonakshi that the following night, she actually spoke out loud to the unseen presence. She hoped that by doing so, she could stop it from coming back again. Recalling the moment, she said, 'When I came home the next night, it was late again. I peeked in first, then said very loudly: 'Jo bhi aaya tha kal raat ko, phirse aise mat karo. Main bohot darr gayi thi. Agar kuch baat karni hai toh mere sapne mein aana… no face-to-face conversation.' And then I walked in. I swear, since then, nothing like that has happened again." ‘Housefull 5' box office collections day 16: Akshay Kumar's comedy flick inches towards Rs 175 cr mark

Akshay Kumar-starrer 'Housefull 5' continues to bring in steady numbers at the box office, even in its third week. According to early estimates from Sacnilk, the film earned approximately ₹2.25 crore (India net) on Day 16 (June 21), bringing its total earnings to ₹172.35 crore across all languages. Strong Start, Decent Hold The film began with a ₹24 crore opening on its first Friday and soared over the weekend, collecting ₹87.5 crore in the first three days alone. Although it witnessed a predictable dip on weekdays, Housefull 5 closed its first week with a solid ₹127.25 crore. The second week saw a natural decline with collections amounting to ₹40.85 crore, yet the film held well on weekends, earning ₹9.5 crore on its second Saturday and ₹11.5 crore on its second Sunday. Steady Pace in Week 3 On third Friday (Day 15), it minted Rs 2 crore, followed by a slight uptick on Saturday (Day 16) with ₹2.25 crore, thanks to weekend footfalls. The film recorded an overall Hindi occupancy of 19.78% on Saturday, with morning shows at 7.96%, afternoon at 20.15%, and evening at 23.78%, indicating continued interest among family audiences. Star-Studded Ensemble and Audience Pull Directed by Tarun Mansukhani, Housefull 5 includes the actors Akshay Kumar , Riteish Deshmukh , Abhishek Bachchan, Sanjay Dutt, Fardeen Khan , Shreyas Talpade , Nana Patekar, and Jackie Shroff. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Trading CFD dengan Teknologi dan Kecepatan Lebih Baik IC Markets Mendaftar Undo The film also features Jacqueline Fernandez, Nargis Fakhri, Sonam Bajwa, and Chitrangada Singh, among others. ETimes review for the film reads, "Barring Riteish who manages to entertain, both Abhishek Bachchan and Akshay Kumar get little to play with as far as words are concerned. The women have nothing much to do except for upping the glam quotient and being the butt of several adult jokes. Sonam Bajwa, Fardeen Khan and Dino Morea act sensibly. Shreyas Talpade, Johnny Lever and Chunky Panday are criminally wasted. Talpade just disappears for a major part of the film, but we can't expect logic here. Can we?." With minimal competition at the box office currently, 'Housefull 5' may continue to draw in collections, particularly over the upcoming Sunday.
