$5500 online purchase delivers on debut for Jess and James Tzaferis
Talented filly Kalosyni didn't break the bank when Jess and James Tzaferis bought her online but has proven to be a mighty challenge for the duo.
And it's why James Tzaferis was in awe of her debut win in the opener at Morphettville on Saturday when the three-year-old filly showed a sharp turn of foot to run down tough leader Aramoso.

The daughter of Magna Grecia was knocked off for only $5500 on Inglis Digital and Tzaferis admitted he was unsure if she would ever make it to the races.
But she's now got $27,300 in prizemoney after just one start and off that victory, plenty more looks to be in store.
'If anyone has seen this horse from when we bought her as a yearling and everything we've gone through to get her to the races, you would be a believer as well because she's done an incredible job,' Tzaferis said.
'We bought her online for $5500 and she's had no soundness problems but mentally she's been the hardest horse I've had anything to do with and probably one of the hardest Jess has too.
'We didn't put any owners into her because we didn't think she would ever make it to the races but she's really turned the corner this campaign.
'So we got some owners into her about a month ago and most of them are here on track so it's a great result.'
When markets went up there was a bit of support for Kalosyni but it wasn't due to a push from the stable.

Tzaferis expected her to run well but was a bit surprised with the way she won given how tough it is tackling a metropolitan maiden race on debut.
'I thought she would run well but I didn't expect her to do that so I hadn't told the owners to have a bet,' Tzaferis said.
'I thought she would run well but it's hard to have confidence in a horse having its first start at the races in town.'
The victory gave dual licence holder Jess Tzaferis her second metropolitan win as a trainer for the season after Royal Fox was able to win on the Parks circuit earlier in the year.

‘Prefer the G': Collingwood whinge about home game at Marvel Stadium
Collingwood is taking on St Kilda in Melbourne on Saturday night – and the Pies still found a way to complain about the fixture. The Pies, who have enormous pulling power with their Collingwood Army, are universally acknowledged as having the comfiest draw in the competition. They rarely venture away from the familiar confines of the MCG, playing just six interstate games across this season, which includes Gather Round. Of their 23 matches this season, 14 of them are at the 100,000-seat MCG, with another three games around three kilometres across the city at Marvel Stadium. Two of those Marvel fixtures are home games, including Saturday night against the Saints, and that fact doesn't seem to sit well with the Collingwood cheer squad or many of the club's pampered fans. The Collingwood banner ahead of the match against the Saints read: 'A home game at Marvel, we prefer the 'G, this crowd feels like an intimate dinner party.' Poor things must feel lost having to travel all that way and somehow find a seat in the diminutive 53,000-seat venue. Cam Mooney was fired up as he spoke on Fox Footy as the Pies ran through the banner. 'They've just run out, you can hear the crowd, a huge crowd here tonight at Marvel with Collingwood,' he said. 'I'm looking forward to watching Tim Membrey, playing his first game against the old club. 'It's always a nervous one, 10 years, nearly 180 games, three-time leading goalkicker at St Kilda and then he got the sack at the end of the year. 'What a great pick up from Collingwood.' While former key forward Mooney was excited about Membrey, man of those watching on were poking fun at the venue for the Collingwood side. Sports producer Brad Klibansky noticed the banner and tweeted: 'Cheeky from the Pies.' Max Blake joked: 'Spare a thought for Collingwood players and fans playing a home game on the road at Marvel.' An X account called Broice wrote: 'Important road-trip for the Pies tonight.' Anthony Leach was having fun, tweeting: 'Did Collingwood sell a home game to St Kilda? I guess that's what battler clubs have to do to make a buck.' The official Collingwood account tweeted its Game Day Guide on Friday with the caption: 'Our first home game under the Marvel Stadium roof for 2025!' It's fair to say their huge supporter base was far from pleased, particularly as Marvel happens to be St Kilda's home ground. Renowned race caller Bryan Martin was clearly miffed, replying: 'One too many.' Another fan replied: 'Imagine Arsenal playing a home game at Stamford Bridge against Chelsea. That's what's happening here. We should never agree to a home game against a Marvel tenant.' Millane Raymond wrote: 'Home game against a team that is their home ground.' An angry fan stated: 'It's not a home game if it's not at the MCG! I hate when we get a home game that isn't at the G, it makes no sense and especially considering the Saints home is Marvel.' Another fan declared: 'And we are travelling two games in row.' That last fan at least added a cry laughing emoji, owing to the fact the Pies also 'travel' to Marvel to take on West Coast next week. While Collingwood occasionally being 'forced' to play away from the MCG is good fodder for footy fans, some were genuinely surprised by the move. Lachy Mahoney tweeted: 'This game being played at Telstra Dome is absolutely ridiculous. And I'm not a Collingwood supporter by the way.' Another blamed the AFL, writing: 'Why are Collingwood playing at Marvel? Poor from the AFL.' It remains to be seen if the underdog Saints take advantage of the chance to play at their home ground, trailing by just two points midway through the third term.

Australian opener Sam Konstas adamant he's improved since Boxing Day bonanza
Australian opener Sam Konstas feels like his cricket has 'come a long way' since his unforgettable Test debut at the MCG, but the teenager doesn't feel the need to prove his critics wrong in the Caribbean this week. Last summer, the 19-year-old announced himself to the cricket world with a whirlwind half-century against India on Boxing Day, repeatedly ramping speedster Jasprit Bumrah in front of 87,242 fans. However, he was dropped ahead of Australia's Test tour of Sri Lanka in February, also missing selection for the recent World Test Championship final defeat to South Africa at Lord's. On Friday, Cricket Australia confirmed Konstas would be recalled for the series opener against the West Indies in Barbados, with the injured Steve Smith and the underperforming Marnus Labuschagne slipping out of the starting XI. Speaking to reporters in Barbados on Saturday, Konstas confessed he felt 'very grateful' for another opportunity in the national side, adding that he understood why he was omitted for Australia's three previous Tests. 'It's been good training with the whole group and getting to know everyone a lot more,' Konstas said. 'Obviously it's a tough team to crack into as we've got legends of the game. 'For me, hopefully I grab my opportunity because it's such a strong side and I'm very grateful for that. 'It's a dream come true to be honest, 19 years old, playing for your country, travelling the world. 'I'm very lucky to be where I am currently.' Konstas' combative Boxing Day blitz successfully tamed Bumrah, but the right-hander drew criticism for reckless dismissals throughout the remainder of the home summer. Most notably when he was bowled by Victorian seamer Scott Boland in the third over of a Sheffield Shield match after attempting a slog-sweep. Despite lingering concerns on whether he has the temperament required for Test cricket, Konstas is confident he has a better grasp on when to counterpunch with aggressive strokes and when to soak up pressure with a conventional approach. 'The emotions probably got to me with the crowd,' Konstas said of his Boxing Day knock. 'It was good reflecting, having a bit of time off to strengthen my game up. 'I've been trying to focus on a few key areas with my batting coach, and I feel like I've come a long way, so hopefully I can display that in the next few Test matches.' Asked whether he feels the need to prove he's not a one-trick pony, Konstas responded: 'I trust people that I work with, they understand my game. I'm not trying to prove to anyone how I'm going to play. 'I just want to be myself and understand when to take on the game and when to soak up the pressure to win games for Australia.' Konstas got his Test cap number tattooed on his forearm in January, confessing he still occasionally watches clips of his MCG innings. 'To be honest, I've been watching it quite a bit. Some of my mates still send it to me,' he laughed. 'I still can't believe it. I don't know what was going through my mind at that time.' The first Test between the West Indies and Australia gets underway at Bridgetown's Kensington Oval on Thursday at 12am AEST. 'I know quite a few of their players, maybe half of their team,' Konstas said of the West Indies. 'They've got brute pace, they're very skilful. 'Can't wait for the challenge.'
