Many in the film industry start their career as child artists and continue their journey in the same profession while growing up. Similarly, there is one child actor who worked with superstars like Amitabh Bachchan, Rajesh Khanna, Dharmendra, Salman Khan and Anil Kapoor and captivated audiences with his acting skills.
We are talking about none other Fahim Ajani, popularly known as Master Raju. Starting his acting career at the age of five, he has done over 200 films and was one of the most popular child artists in the late 60s, 70s, and early 80s. Sanjeev Kumar, who worked with him in his debut movie Parichay , named him Master Raju. Even while growing up, he continued using this name.
As a child artist, the actor worked with almost every star, including Rajesh Khanna, Amitabh Bachchan, Dharmendra, Sanjeev Kumar, Jeetendra, and Anil Kapoor. Some of his most popular films are Amar Prem, Daag-The Poem of Love, Deewaar, Inkaar, Khud-Daar, and Woh Saat Din . Master Raju even bagged the Best Child Actor National Award for his impeccable performance in Chitchor.
In a 1977 interview, the actor revealed that he used to get Rs 10,000 per film. But after his popularity rose, he would get over Rs 1 lakh. He revealed that while shooting for Deewangi with Shashi Kapoor, he suffered a terrible accident. His hands and face were burned due to miscoordination in an action sequence. Moreover, during the shooting of Mamta , he almost drowned because he was unaware of swimming.
While growing up, Master Raju had aspiration of majorly portraying villainous roles but was only being offered positive characters. He starred in films like B aaghi, Anari, Balwan, Saajan Chale Sasural and Diljale. Unfortunately, he failed to establish himself as a lead hero.
Later, he ventured into the television world and became popular after playing the character of Narad in about 3,000 episodes of Jai Hanuman. He tasted success after playing many mythological characters in TV shows like Jai Hanuman, Navgraha Purana, Darshan Do Bhagwan, Jai Maa Durga and Shani Mahima. Later, he also made appearance in few episodes of CID and Ssshhhh…Koi Hai. The actor was last seen in he TV series Ziddi Dil Mane Na and the OTT film Ardh.
