Goalkeeper Andrada denies River Plate to earn draw for Monterrey
LOS ANGELES, June 21 (Reuters) - Monterrey held on to claim a 0-0 draw with River Plate in Group E of the Club World Cup at the Rose Bowl on Saturday as both clubs maintained their hopes of advancing to the knockout rounds.
Goalkeeper Esteban Andrada made vital second-half saves from Franco Mastantuono and Miguel Borja to secure a point for the Mexican side, who had drawn their opening game against Inter Milan on Tuesday.
River Plate's Kevin Castano was sent off in injury time for a second bookable offence as his side moved level on four points with the Italians at the top of standings. Monterrey sit two points behind the Argentinian side.
River Plate will next face Inter Milan in Seattle on Wednesday, while Monterrey take on already-eliminated Urawa Red Diamonds from Japan at the Rose Bowl.

Jobe Bellingham opens up on £32m Borussia Dortmund move, why he only has first name on shirt and the Premier League legends who inspire him - after scoring his first goal for the club
Jobe Bellingham has opened up on his move to Borussia Dortmund after scoring his first goal for the club. Earlier this month Bellingham joined Dortmund from Sunderland for an initial fee of £27.8million plus £4million in add-ons, and he is currently representing the German club at the Club World Cup. Bellingham scored his first goal for Dortmund on Saturday as he found the net against Mamelodi Sundowns in a 4-3 victory in the group stages. The 19-year-old is following in the footsteps of his brother Jude by signing for Dortmund. Jude played for Dortmund between 2020 and 2023 prior to joining Real Madrid. Jobe revealed that he is settling in well at Dortmund following his move. Bellingham told FIFA: 'It's really good actually. I met the boys and signed before I flew out. So, I feel like I'm starting to really settle in with the team. Obviously, it's tough signing for a new club and then flying away straight away, but a lot of people have made it as easy as possible for me. So, to be honest, it's been really enjoyable.' The midfielder also discussed the fact that he has his first name 'Jobe' on the back of his shirt rather than 'Bellingham'. Bellingham stated that he enjoys having his first name on his shirt as it is 'unique' and 'quite cool'. He said: 'Well, if I'm being really honest, obviously, it started when I first signed for Sunderland. I, maybe, thought about it a few times. I thought: Yeah, that would be quite cool. But, only when people brought it up to me. I never thought about it like spontaneously on my own. 'Someone close to me would say: 'That would be cool if you did that'. And then, someone who's quite special to me – a coach that I had at Sunderland and at Birmingham when I was a kid – he said: 'Why don't you do that at Sunderland?'. And, just because I was young, I thought: It would be cool to have my own name on the back of my shirt. So, it was more that than anything (else). 'I wasn't really trying to have a deeper meaning behind it, but I suppose you can find that in that act. But yeah, I think it's quite unique and it's quite cool, and it's something that I enjoy having.' Furthermore, Bellingham disclosed that he is inspired by players such as Premier League legends Patrick Vieira and Steven Gerrard. He said: 'Even [Diego] Maradona's documentary is amazing, but there's nothing I can learn from him because he's too good. But, yeah, players like – even Patrick Vieira. I didn't really get to – obviously, I didn't get to watch him at all. I watch a lot of clips of him, which is strange really, because I always thought he was more defensive, but it turns out that he does everything really. 'And I watch players in that position, and now like a six or a box midfielder. So, even Gerrard I'm watching all the time, and loads of other midfield players as well.'

The Italian, 45, said: "No, the red card has nothing to do with Nico's future. "He had the first one against Newcastle when Liam was not even here and another one. Rio Ferdinand's transfer message to Jack Grealish as Kevin de Bruyne helps out
Rio Ferdinand reckons Jack Grealish should consider a move abroad after being told there is no future for him at Manchester City with Kevin De Bruyne pushing for a switch to Napoli Rio Ferdinand reckons Jack Grealish should look beyond the Premier League after being told he has no future at Manchester City England winger Grealish was left behind by Pep Guardiola for the Club World Cup and is currently exploring a move away from the Etihad having been demoted to a sporadic role last season. And having recently been linked with Napoli, who have just brought in Kevin De Bruyne as a free agent, Ferdinand reckons Grealish should consider getting his 'feet in the sand' of Saudi Arabia. "I would advise Jack Grealish to play where he will be happy," Ferdinand said on his YouTube channel. "He needs to find happiness with himself playing football but also within a team. I don't think any players are happy when they're not playing, especially the player that's used to being the star man in their team since he was a kid. "He'd have been star man so to think that he's now not even being considered for big moments and big games… he needs to go where he's going to play and he's going to find happiness. "Because at the end of your career, yes you do want trophies, but at the same time you want to be happy doing that, you want to feel a part of it. I want to see that smile and that swagger and that enjoyment factor when he plays football again and I don't think we've seen it for a while.' Ferdinand added that returning to boyhood club Aston Villa but be a good move – but he would have Morgan Rogers for competition. And with former team-mate De Bruyne already looking to pull strings in Naples, urging his new club to strike a deal for the winger, a switch to the Serie A champions is also a reasonable shout alongside Saudi. 'Villa would be great for him but if they don't sell anyone where does he fit in?' Ferdinand added. 'I would like to see it where he gets a bit of a free role. If there's a team out there that can afford to play a structure where he goes back to that almost like a No.10 or one of the eight positions that's allowed to just roam a bit. 'That's what I would do with Jack Grealish because I think if you play him more centrally and you just give him a bit of freedom, like we saw when he was at Villa, the kid can unlock. 'If I'm him, you know where I'd go? Saudi. If I'm Jack Grealish I'm going Saudi, I'm getting my feet in the sand. I'd love to see him in Napoli, that atmosphere. Marseille with Roberto de Zerbi, where I know the fans will love him.'
