MLC 2025: San Francisco Unicorns history, top performers, schedule, squad
San Francisco Unicorns reached the final of the 2024 MLC.
MLC 2025:
The San Francisco Unicorns' journey in Major League Cricket (MLC) has been a tale of resilience and revival. After a disappointing debut in 2023—where they missed out on the playoffs and finished fifth—they bounced back in spectacular fashion in 2024, making a deep run to the final before falling just short of the title.
As the 2025 season kicks off on June 12, the Unicorns will be eager to put the heartbreak of last year's final behind them and launch a fresh title charge. They begin their campaign with a blockbuster clash against reigning champions Washington Freedom at the Oakland Coliseum in California

Under the leadership of Aaron Finch, the Unicorns began their MLC campaign with promise, defeating MI New York by 22 runs in their opening match.
However, their momentum faltered with a 35-run loss to Seattle Orcas in their second game. They responded with a solid 21-run victory over the LA Knight Riders but were unable to maintain consistency. Consecutive defeats—by 30 runs to Washington Freedom and by 3 wickets to Texas Super Kings—ended their playoff hopes. With just 2 wins from 5 matches, the Unicorns placed fifth in the six-team standings.

The Unicorns began the season on a high, defeating the LA Knight Riders by 6 wickets. They stumbled in their second match, losing to Texas Super Kings by 7 wickets. Their third fixture, again against LA Knight Riders, was washed out due to rain, earning them a single point.
That's when the real turnaround began. The Unicorns went on a four-match winning streak, beating Seattle Orcas by 23 runs, MI New York by 3 runs, and Washington Freedom twice—first by 6 wickets and then by 7 wickets—to storm into the playoffs.
In the Qualifier, however, Washington Freedom turned the tables, handing the Unicorns a 9-wicket defeat. But the Unicorns stayed alive by edging out Texas Super Kings by 10 runs in the Eliminator, booking a place in the final.
Facing Washington Freedom for the third time in the tournament, the Unicorns fell short when it mattered most. In a one-sided final, they lost by 96 runs and finished as runners-up in a remarkable comeback season.
STANDOUT PERFORMERS
Finn Allen:
Finn Allen emerged as the batting mainstay for the San Francisco Unicorns in the 2024 season. The explosive opener amassed 306 runs in 9 matches at an average of 34.00 and a blistering strike rate of 187.73. He finished as the team's highest run-scorer, with one century and two half-centuries to his name. Allen's dynamic performances at the top were pivotal to the Unicorns' resurgence and run to the final.
Hassan Khan:
All-rounder Hassan Khan played a crucial role in the Unicorns' turnaround season with his impactful contributions in both departments. He scored 204 runs and was the team's second-highest run-scorer, while also finishing as their leading wicket-taker with 10 dismissals. His consistent all-round performances made him one of the most valuable players in the Unicorns' 2024 campaign.

MLC 2025: Texas vs San Francisco playing 11, live toss time, streaming
The Major League Cricket (MLC) 2025 season is heating up, and Match 10 promises to be its most anticipated contest yet. On June 21, two unbeaten sides — Texas Super Kings (TSK) and San Francisco Unicorns (SFU) — lock horns in a top-of-the-table showdown that could shape the tournament's early narrative. San Francisco have been the most entertaining side so far, lighting up the competition with monstrous totals of 269 and 219 in their first two games. Finn Allen and Jake Fraser-McGurk have turned heads with their power-hitting, while Xavier Bartlett showed their lower-order grit with a nervy finish against MI New York, proving SFU are more than just top-order flair. Texas, on the other hand, have built their unbeaten run on clinical bowling. After a narrow win against MINY, sealed by Daryl Mitchell's nerves of steel and two last-over run-outs, they decimated Seattle Orcas by 93 runs — bowling them out for just 60. Nandre Burger, Noor Ahmad, and Zia-ul-Haq have been relentless with the ball. It's SFU's explosive batting against TSK's disciplined bowling — a clash of styles with early MLC supremacy on the line. IND vs ENG: Did Sanjay Manjrekar take a dig at Virat Kohli in commentary? Watch video
File photo of Sanjay Manjrekar and Virat Kohli. Former India cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar seemingly made indirect comments about Virat Kohli during the commentary of the first Test match between India and England at Headingley, Leeds on June 20. The remarks came during the 21st over of India's innings when the team were 77/0, with KL Rahul and Yashasvi Jaiswal at the crease. LIVE: India vs England 1st Test Day 1 Manjrekar's comments focused on the batting approach of the Indian openers, particularly their handling of deliveries outside the off-stump. Go Beyond The Boundary with our YouTube channel. SUBSCRIBE NOW! While analysing the batting performance, Manjrekar initially praised the discipline shown by the Indian openers. He stressed how they were playing according to the merit of the ball despite the seemingly batting-friendly conditions. How Shubman Gill prepared for the first Test vs England in Leeds | Exclusive from Nets "Many would see this session and would think the pitch is placid. The seam bowlers haven't looked potent, one important reason it is seeing that way is these two have batted well. Potentially wicket-taking, outside the off-stump full and they have been left alone. Jaiswal has done that, anything that has pitched right up into the stump is driven anything that has pitched wide is not disturbed," Manjrekar said. The commentary took a different turn when Brydon Carse bowled a delivery on the sixth stump line to KL Rahul, who left it alone. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Memperdagangkan CFD Emas dengan salah satu spread terendah? We know of a former batter that would have gone after it and got himself into trouble but not these two," Manjrekar remarked during the live broadcast. The reference appeared to be directed at Kohli , who had recently announced his retirement from Test cricket. The context became clearer considering Kohli's performance during India's previous tour of Australia, where he was dismissed eight out of nine times while attempting to play deliveries pitched on the fifth and sixth stump line. Nick Knight EXCLUSIVE: On Shubman Gill and absence of Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma in England The match proceeded with India's opening partnership reaching 91 runs before KL Rahul was dismissed by Brydon Carse for 42 runs off 78 balls. Rahul's dismissal came when he attempted to play a wide delivery outside off-stump, which resulted in an edge carried to Joe Root in the slip cordon. Following Rahul's wicket, debutant Sai Sudharsan was dismissed for a four-ball duck in the next over bowled by Ben Stokes. Sudharsan was caught behind by wicketkeeper Jamie Smith.
