Vivek Agnihotri slams John Abraham, says 'can't deliver five lines, doesn't deserve to be paid in crores'
Filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri is one of the names in the entertainment industry who don't mince words and is known for putting out their opinion bluntly in front of the public. Vivek has never shied away from voicing his views and has regularly expressed his opinions. Recently, the filmmaker opened up and shared his thoughts on John Abraham, with whom he worked in the movie Dhan Dhana Dhan Goal (2007).Talking to Dainik Bhaskar, Vivek recalled his memories of working in the sports drama Dhan Dhana Dhan Goal. The filmmaker looked at John Abraham's acting skills, which have shocked the internet. Talking about the film in detail, Vivek criticised John Abraham's acting, alleging that John struggled with even basic dialogue delivery. Amplifying the attack, Vivek said, 'If an actor asks for reduced lines because he can't deliver five sentences in rhythm, then why is he being paid crores?" Making it even worse, Vivek shared about John Abraham's reported breakup with then-girlfriend Bipasha Basu. He said that their breakup affected the movie's atmosphere. According to Vivek, the emotional tension between John and Bipasha cast a shadow over the set, disrupting the creative flow and making it increasingly difficult to work.He also said that since the film revolved around football, the actors were made to learn the sport and get comfortable with it. While Arshad Warsi and Raj Zutshi trained hard and became good at it, on the other hand, John struggled to adapt, creating additional problems for them.Vivek also commented on Anurag Kashyap and Vikramaditya Motwane, the scriptwriters of Dhan Dhana Dhan Goal. As per Vivek Agnihotri, the writing process was filled with confusion over leadership and direction. He felt the team didn't consider him a writer and instead placed their trust in Anurag, who, Vivek said, was distracted by personal issues. Despite all these problems, Vivek said he did everything possible to keep the film on track and complete the shoot..About Dhan Dhana Dhan GoalDirected by Vivek Agnihotri, Dhan Dhana Dhan Goal was a sports drama produced by UTV Pictures. With a staggering 17-day all-language net collection of Rs 175.95 crore, the film has now surpassed the lifetime earnings of Ajay Devgn 's Raid 2, which has till now earned Rs 173.26 crore from it's theatrical run. Directed by Tarun Mansukhani , Housefull 5 had a spectacular opening weekend, raking in Rs 87.5 crore in its first three days alone. The film's explosive start, driven by mass appeal, ensemble cast, and a mix of slapstick humour and lavish visuals, made it an instant crowd-puller. Despite the usual weekday drops, it sustained well enough to end Week 1 with a solid ₹Rs 27.25 crore. The Madness is Real: Housefull 5 Cast Goes All Out! The second week witnessed a noticeable dip in collections, typical for high-octane entertainers, yet the film added Rs 40.85 crore more to its kitty. As it entered its third weekend, Housefull 5 showed signs of renewed momentum, earning Rs 2 crore on Friday, Rs 2.5 crore on Saturday, and an estimated Rs 3.35 crore on Sunday, bringing the 17-day total to Rs 175.95 was despite the magical run by Aamir Khan and Genelia D'Souza's Sitaare Zameen Par which went on earn about Rs 59 crore over the weekend. In doing so, it edged past Raid 2, which was previously the second highest-grossing Bollywood film of the year. Ajay Devgn's crime thriller had garnered praise for its gripping storyline and intense performances, ending its run at Rs 173.26 crore. However, the sheer entertainment quotient and franchise value of Housefull 5 helped it go one step further. The only film ahead of Housefull 5 in 2025's box office race is Vicky Kaushal 's Chhaava which has earned over Rs 600 crore across languages this year.. With this success, Akshay Kumar also marks a major comeback after a string of underwhelming releases in the last two years. The Housefull franchise now boasts five consistent commercial hits, reinforcing its reputation as one of Bollywood's most bankable comedy series. As it inches closer to the Rs 180 crore mark, Housefull 5 cements its place not just in 2025's charts, but also in the broader legacy of big-ticket Bollywood entertainers.
