Sabrina Carpenter shocks fans with Man's Best Friend album artwork

Perth Now12-06-2025

Sabrina Carpenter will release the album Man's Best Friend on August 29.
The prolific pop star is set to release the follow-up to Short n' Sweet almost exactly a year later.
Sabrina shocked fans by standing on all fours in front of a man pulling her hair on the racy artwork, with the cover dividing opinion.
However, one fan defending the Espresso hitmaker suggested she was poking fun at the fact people said "she's for the male gaze".
They wrote on X: "I've already seen enough so i gotta explain this cover cuz apparently y'all are acting dense: 'Man's Best Friend' is a phrase referring to a DOG. Sabrina is obviously portraying it on the cover referring to how all of you said she's for the "male gaze'. this is how YOU see her. (sic)"
The album will include the lead single, Manchild, which upon its release, Sabrina thanked "men for testing me".
The 26-year-old singer explained that Manchild - which she co-wrote with Jack Antonoff and Amy Allen - is "the mental montage to the very confusing and fun young adult years of life."
She penned on Instagram upon the song's release: "i wrote manchild on a random tuesday with amy and jack not too long after finishing short n' sweet and it ended up being the best random tuesday of my life
"not only was it so fun to write, but this song became to me something I can look back on that will score the mental montage to the very confusing and fun young adult years of life.
"it sounds like the song embodiment of a loving eye roll and it feels like a never ending road trip in the summer ! hence why i wanted to give it to you now- so you can stick your head out the car window and scream it all summer long!
"thank you always and forever for listening
and thank you men for testing me! (sic)"
There has been much speculation about which of her exes the song is about, with Saltburn actor Barry Keoghan's name mentioned a lot.
Sabrina's Grammy-winning Short n' Sweet album was followed by February's deluxe edition, which featured a duet of Please Please Please with Dolly Parton and a new song called Busy Woman.

Indy Clinton hires private investigator to complete dossier on trolls leaving hurtful comments on her social media

Indy Clinton has revealed she has hired a private investigator to get the private details of those people leaving hurtful or 'troll' comments on her popular social media accounts. The mother-of-three, who has 650,000 Instagram followers, confirmed the move via a video. 'How it feels receiving a 64-page report from my PI after an extensive three-month investigation on all my ladies (mothers) who have continuously bullied, defamed and trolled me and my family for months n months and even years,' she wrote. Clinton looked pleased with herself as she danced around in the clip, including completing a number of jubilant twirls. Clinton divided opinion with the move, being praised by some of Australia's biggest names. 'Think I might do this too. You are not anonymous trolls,' AFL WAG Rebecca Judd wrote. 'Queen sh*t,' Perth influencer, Em Davies, added. 'This. I found out who my troll was too - it was one of my clients. Blew my mind that most 'trolls' are people we know,' Felicity Morgan wrote. Trolling remains a grey area when it comes to the law. However, if the harassment passes the legal threshold for adult abuse, it can be reported to the eSafety commissioner. The harassment could also contravene existing defamation or harassment laws. Other followers were less sympathetic. 'So, you got a PI because people troll you. Yet, you're the one that puts up all the ridiculous things you do. Exploiting your children and husband then you complain because people make harsh comments. Yet, it's never affected you enough to stop posting. You just found a new angle to get attention,' one person wrote. 'Have fun with that. Trolling isn't illegal,' another wrote. 'Your weird,' another added. Clinton spoke to The Daily Telegraph about her decision to hire a private investigator. 'Some of the defamatory things which have been said about me in recent years are extremely distressing,' Clinton began. 'I will use my platform and my voice to not only spread awareness but to make an impact.' Clinton then spoke about the toll trolling has taken on her. 'Lives are being taken,' she said. 'For me - a few months ago - what I endured was life or death.'

Miley Cyrus slammed for ‘rude' behaviour at fan event

Don't miss out on the headlines from Music. Followed categories will be added to My News. Miley Cyrus has been slammed for being rude 'rude' and disrespectful' after seemingly ignoring fans at a meet-and-greet in the UK over the weekend. The singer was at the Rough Trade East music store and bar in London to meet fans and promote her new album, Something Beautiful. Joining her was British supermodel Naomi Campbell, who features on the album on the funk-pop track, Every Girl You've Ever Loved. But as the pair signed autographs, seemingly on autopilot, they appeared to be more interested in chatting to each other, much to the disappointment of their excited fans. X SUBSCRIBER ONLY In a clip now going viral, Cyrus barely interacts with a fan who approach the table with her album in hand, nor does the singer look at the camera for a photo. Instead, she continues to focus her attention on Campbell, who also appears to ignore fans gushing over her. 'Miley looked right at her and focused on Naomi right after. Cmon Miley,' one fan tweeted on X, as another commented, 'Oh that's just disrespectful.' Miley Cyrus called been out for her 'rude' behaviour at a fan meet-and-greet in London. Picture: X 'I'm sure they didn't intend to but... this is just rude. If you can't give your attention to fans, then don't agree to autograph sessions where pictures are also offered,' another wrote, as one noted, 'I'm pretty sure people paid to see them so if you're going to charge at least be polite and give them the time they paid for.' 'Ew that's effed she prob waited hours for that rudeness,' yet another agreed. Cyrus was joined by British supermodel Naomi Campbell, who also appeared to ignore fans at the event. Picture: X Other users came to Cyrus' defence, calling for understanding as fan meet-and-greets are no walk in the park. 'It is rude. but they see 100s of not 1000s of people. To try and sit there and talk to each and every one of them is a bit much. Not trying to defend their actions or anything, just sayin,' one wrote. 'They have hundreds of fans to meet. I don't blame them for not giving one on one attention to each one,' wrote another. In a photo with another fan, Cyrus doesn't even look at the camera. Picture: X Earlier this month, the Hannah Montana star was unexpectedly heckled by fans at a Q&A session at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York on June 6. The pop star was at the event to promote her upcoming musical film, Something Beautiful, which is released in line with her album of the same name. In videos posted online, Cyrus was in the middle of answering a question when a disgruntled fan shouted from the audience, 'We thought this was a concert. We paid $800.' 'Are you actually going to sing?' yelled another. 'Miley, sing The Climb!' Cyrus was heckled by fans at the Tribeca Film Festival in early June. Picture: Instagram The singer was pressured to sing at the Q&A event in New York. Picture: Instagram Cyrus then obliged and began to sing an a capella version of her 2009 hit, before abruptly stopping to ask the audience why 'you're not singing'. After handling the awkward moment with grace, Cyrus then took to Instagram to thank everyone for coming along to the event. 'Seeing Something Beautiful on the big screen at @tribeca @beacontheatre surrounded by the screams of the audience, was so worth every bit of effort lovingly laboured into this visual album,' she wrote alongside photos from the event. 'Tonight was emotional, deep, fun & fabulous. All my favourite things, but YOU the crowd were my absolute favourite of all. I love you.' Julie Goodwin shows off remarkable physical transformation as MasterChef star returned to The Project after sixteen years for its final Sunday show

Julie Goodwin has returned to The Project, sixteen years after she first appeared on the program as the original guest. The 2009 MasterChef Australia winner returned on Sunday to Channel 10's flagship current affairs program as it heads into its final week on air. In this episode, Goodwin looked back at clips of her first appearance on the show in 2009, when she was introduced by the original panellists Carrie Bickmore, Dave Hughes, Charlie Pickering, and James Mathison. The 54-year-old was, at the time, the newly-crowned winner of the first series of the cooking competition and looked markedly different from how she does now, after having shed almost 20 kgs almost a decade ago. "It's so strange like I look at that, and I was in my 30's, now I'm in my 50's, now you guys have been here for a long time," Goodwin told Sunday evening's panellists Waleed Aly, Sarah Harris, Sam Taunton, and Rachel Corbett Goodwin. "I'm a grandma now, my boys are adults, they're living adult lives and heaps has changed so much has changed." The star said what hasn't changed is The Project has been a staple in her household since her first appearance on the show all those years ago. "Just being able to tune into the day's events without going into a sad spiral and the way you've done this for sixteen years has been beautiful. "And I'm so thankful to have been a tiny part of it." Elsewhere in the episode, the panellists showed sweet photos of Goodwin cooking in the kitchen with her young granddaughter, Delilah. The celebrity chef said she was "thrilled" the youngster is a regular at the dinner table and enjoys helping her grandmother in the kitchen. It comes after a Ten spokesperson earlier this month confirmed to The Project will air for the last time this Friday, June 27, after almost 16 years and more than 4,500 episodes. "The impact that The Project has had on the media and entertainment industry, countless careers, as well as on Australian society and culture, cannot be overstated," the spokesperson said in a statement. The Melbourne-based show in 2022 suffered reported budget cuts and declining viewership at Ten. Meanwhile, the broadcaster faced mounting challenges as the show's ratings dwindled due to criticism of its left-wing bias being too "woke". Goodwin's return to The Project comes after she stunned fans with her slimmer-than-ever appearance on Instagram earlier this month. The star's natural grey locks peeked through her short dyed tresses in a cooking video, with the hairstyle accentuating her slender face and frame. The culinary extraordinaire's slender collarbones and arms were visible beneath her black-and-white striped T-shirt. Goodwin kept her signature glasses on, which have become synonymous with the star for more than a decade. Her physical transformation comes after she has faced serious struggles while grappling with the challenges of fame. She recorded a drink driving offence in 2018 and made an attempt on her life in 2020. The chef recently revealed she's now in a much better place, telling Nine Honey: "I'm good, I really am".
