Senator Sherry Rehman inaugurated an art exhibition on the culture and identity of the Kalash community at the Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA).
The exhibition titled "Rekingdingling: The Kalash Narrative", underscored the importance of preserving and celebrating Pakistan's diverse cultural heritage. It showcased the work of six art accomplished artists: Ahmed Habib, Akram Dost Baloch, Ejaz Khan, M. A. Bhatti, Riffat Khatak and Samreen Asif.
"This exhibition is a beautiful celebration of the unique and vibrant culture of the Kalash community," said Rehman. "Their traditions and heritage are not only distinct but also deeply inspiring."
"It's essential that we continue to promote and cherish the diverse cultural identities that make up the fabric of our nation," she added. "The artists have skilfully highlighted meaningful themes through modern expression, and the entire team deserves a heartfelt congratulations for this commendable effort."
She went onto congratulate the organisers and participants for curating a powerful and visually compelling showcase, adding that such initiatives play a vital role in fostering cultural understanding and unity.

'K-POP Festival' rocks Islamabad
The Embassy of the Republic of Korea successfully hosted the 2025 K-POP Festival at the Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA), transforming Islamabad into a vibrant hub of music, dance, and cultural exchange. The event served as the regional preliminary round to select Pakistan's representatives for the prestigious 2025 Changwon World K-POP Festival in South Korea. Highlighting the night were two special guest performances by past K-POP Festival winners — one each from the vocal and dance categories — who returned to the stage with professional-calibre acts that earned roaring applause. Prizes for the 2025 winners were generously sponsored by Samsung. The First Prize winners in both categories received the latest Samsung Galaxy A26 smartphones, Second Prize winners were awarded Galaxy Smart Watch A7, and Third Prize winners received Samsung Galaxy Wireless Earbuds 3. More than just a competition, the festival offered an immersive experience celebrating Korean culture and music, while empowering Pakistani youth with a platform to showcase their talents on an international stage. The audience responded with infectious enthusiasm, especially during the quiz and performances, underlining the growing popularity of K-POP in Pakistan. Events like these continue to strengthen cultural diplomacy, with the Embassy of the Republic of Korea playing a pivotal role in deepening ties and fostering mutual appreciation between Korea and Pakistan.

PNCA launches first-ever opera singing course
The Pakistan National Council of the Arts, in collaboration with the Embassy of Romania, launched its first-ever Opera Singing Courses at the PNCA Islamabad, marking a significant step in Pakistan's performing arts education and international cultural exchange. Parliamentary Secretary for National Heritage and Culture, Farah Naz Akbar, Ambassador of Romania to Pakistan, Dan Stoenescu attended the event. In her remarks, Akbar emphasised the importance of such collaborations in nurturing new talent and strengthening cultural diplomacy. Ambassador Dan Stoenescu delivered an inspiring speech highlighting the universal power of music and announced a generous initiative by offering scholarships for music students in Romania. This scholarship programme is a major opportunity for emerging Pakistani musicians to receive world-class training abroad. An engaging overview of the course, its vision, and methodology was presented by Georgiana Costea-Glug?, who will be closely involved in the training process. PNCA director general highlighted the role of PNCA for the promotion of music and arts in Pakistan. Many international cultural exchange initiatives were taken under the leadership of Muhammad Ayoub Jamali, who was the director general of PNCA. The event featured captivating live performances by PNCA students, including opera singing, violin, guitar, keyboard, and a cultural, folk fusion, showcasing the diversity and depth of local talent.
