Deepika Padukone's reported feud with Sandeep Reddy Vanga over her demand for an 8-hour workday made headlines recently. Since then, several people from the film industry have come out in support of the actor. Now, director Kabir Khan, who is also a friend of Deepika, has defended her. He also revealed that even male actors, including Aamir Khan and Akshay Kumar, work on an 8-hour shift.
In an interview with Movified, Kabir spoke about the need for proper working hours in the film industry, citing mental health and better efficiency. 'I work with 500 crew members who each have families and their own lives. Their well‑being matters, not just for efficiency, but for their mental health,' he said.
While defending Deepika's demands, Kabir added, 'It's a fair point. Aamir Khan works on an 8‑hour shift. Akshay Kumar too. So I don't see why Deepika should be denied the same. If a filmmaker doesn't agree, they should have a valid reason. It's that simple.'

The Chandu Champion director also rejected the notion that filmmaking comes at the cost and sacrifice of personal life. According to him, work should have a structure. Kabir revealed that he himself has never shot more than 12 hours, never worked overtime, and never worked on Sundays. 'These are basic rules,' he asserted.
When asked about Deepika Padukone's reported fee demand of Rs 25 crore, Kabir Khan said that remuneration should align with audience appeal and box office draw, noting that she attracts huge crowds to theatres. 'Whoever brings in the viewers, whether an actor, director, man or woman… they deserve to be paid what they're worth,' he said.
On the professional front, Deepika was last seen in Rohit Shetty's Singham Again. She has Atlee and Allu Arjun's next AA22 X A6 in her kitty. The announcement video hinted that she will play the role of a warrior princess in the film.

She adds, 'Fashion has always been a response to cultural cues—and we live in very chaotic times. It has made us desensitised. This microtrend is the biggest example of a deeply emotional response.'A Vogue Business article says the reasons toys are having a moment in 2025 are manifold: people are seeking comfort, a connection to a simpler time, they are 'affordable luxury', and these 'kidult' collectibles help adults express their personality. Agrees Shetty: 'Digital culture is accelerating these microtrends. But I believe that if it's everywhere, it's already over. This is why Labubu doesn't appeal to me, even though I'm finding joy in this trend.' Shetty, who was in Tokyo last month, went for other toys like Smiski and professional Amrita Chhabria confesses to leaning onto cute trinkets—usually picked from Miniso—as quick comforters to deal with daily stress caused by family members being in and out of hospital. Sarifluencer Ashwini Narayan pairs charms and toys with her bags as reminders of old trips. Delhi-based visual designer Soumya Marhual, 28, makes her own charms. She says, 'Owning things like this gives you a false sense of control that you are curating your life, that you are actively making choices.'It could also be a way to engage playfully with fashion. Jatin Varma, founder of Comic Con India, says, 'After Lisa was spotted with Labubu, shelves filled up overnight, resellers priced it like limited-edition sneakers and people started dropping words like 'collector' and 'fan' as if they had grown up with it. Assomull says if a brand doesn't already have a playful or quirky side, forcing cuteness can backfire. Vivita Relan, cofounder of the whimsical ceramics brand The Wishing Chair, has been riding the cute wave since 2012. She says the line between whimsical and childish is paper-thin. Brands can strike the right balance with intent and execution. She says, 'We use playful silhouettes, but ground them in well-made artistry. Also, cuteness isn't about making an exact design replica of something from your childhood, but about evoking that feeling.' Arora agrees. ‘Kuberaa' box office collections day 2: Dhanush's thriller holds strong; mints Rs 30.75 cr

Dhanush's latest thriller 'Kuberaa' is enjoying a healthy run at the box office, showing strong momentum on its second day. According to early estimates from Sacnilk, the film collected Rs 16 crore (India net) on Day 2 (Saturday, June 21), taking its two-day total to Rs 30.75 crore across all languages. This was led by strong numbers in the Telugu (Rs 10 Cr) and Tamil (Rs 4.5 Cr) markets. The film saw a positive jump on Saturday. It earned an additional Rs 16 crore. The film was largely driven by increased occupancy in Telugu-speaking regions. Occupancy rates The film registered impressive occupancy rates in major languages on Saturday. Telugu occupancy stood at an overall 66.19%, with night shows peaking at 83.67%. Tamil version saw moderate traction. 'Kuberaa' clocked 35.89% overall occupancy, which picked up during evening and night shows. Hindi version saw a gradual rise from morning (4.68%) to night (19.91%) shows, and it reported a modest 10.87% occupancy.
