Masterplan proposes 5-min access to essential amenities
Mumbai: The Dharavi Redevelopment plan proposes easy access to essential public amenities such as education, healthcare, retail markets and open spaces within 5, 10 and 15-minute walking distances.
Today a slum spread over 2.5 sq kms, the masterplan proposes that more than 80% of Dharavi will be within 5 minutes from a transit station, that more than 80% neighbourhoods will be within 5 minutes of a public open space, that more than 70% neighbourhoods will be within a five-minute walk to social amenities.
In a presentation to chief minister Devendra Fadnavis on Wednesday, Dharavi Redevelopment Project CEO and chairman of Navbharat Mega Developers Pvt Ltd S V R Srinivas put forth a blueprint for a multi-modal transit hub with Metro Lines 3 and 11 passing through the area with strengthened pedestrian and vehicular connections from Dharavi to surrounding neighbourhoods.
Five new transit points are to be created connecting T K Marg to the arterial 90-feet road by an underpass; a new road is to be developed connecting to S B Marg; the Dharavi Depot road will connect to Chunabhatti-BKC Link road; another connector will come up along the Western Railway line to Mahim Sion flyover; an underpass below the Harbour line near Mahim will connect to S B Marg; and another underpass to Sion. A plan to redevelop Mahim and Sion railway stations with concourse levels plus bus bays and taxi parking points was also presented.

Dharavi will also have its own museum to showcase its history, art and culture besides a working women's hostel, arbitration centre, convention and cultural centre, and medicity with wellness areas.
According to Dharavi's 2016 Development Plan, there are 26 schools here which are run in temporary slum structures; only the Kamraj school in sector 3 is in a legal structure. "Students are crammed in small rooms with inadequate space and no playground facilities," states the report. The master plan proposes primary as well as secondary schools along with a community hall and library. A multi-speciality hospital will soon co-exist with an existing branch of the civic-run Sion hospital.

Nagpur: In a major boost for road connectivity to Nashik for Kumbh Mela 2027, Union minister for road transport and highways Nitin Gadkari on Sunday approved upgradation, along with construction in some patches, of up to eight highways leading to the city. Along with this, there are some internal roads which also need to be upgraded to support the flow of visitors towards Nashik," said Fadnavis. "Gadkari ji held a meeting regarding our request and he has approved all the projects. Soon, a DPR will be prepared and funds allotted. Govt seeks public inputs for Viksit Maha 2047 via survey
Nagpur: Maharashtra govt has launched a statewide citizen survey to collect public opinion for the preparation of 'Viksit Maharashtra 2047' vision document. The initiative is part of a 150-day programme led by chief minister Devendra Fadnavis, aimed at shaping a long-term development roadmap for the state in alignment with the national India@2047 goal. The survey, officially inaugurated on June 17, encourages citizens to share their views on development priorities across 16 key sectors for which seven questions are to be answered on WhatsApp chatbot. These include agriculture, education, health, rural and urban development, land and water resources, infrastructure, finance, industry, services, social development, security, soft power, technology, and human resource management. Citizens can participate in the survey by scanning QR code displayed on official banners or by visiting the link: The planning department has clarified that no personal information will be collected during the process. The vision document aims to guide Maharashtra toward becoming a $1 trillion economy by 2029 and a $5 trillion economy by 2047. Departments have been directed to set short-term, medium-term, and long-term goals, focusing on progress, sustainability, inclusivity, and good governance. Experts and organisations from both govt and non-govt sectors will also be involved in drafting sector-wise plans. The campaign falls under the broader framework of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, the national movement marking 100 years of India's independence in 2047. It emphasizes citizen engagement as a cornerstone for planning and decision-making. The chief minister has directed all district collectors, commissioners, and local officials to ensure public participation by promoting the survey at key locations. Center to develop nine roads leading to Nashik ahead of Kumbh mela
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Sunday said that all roads connecting Nashik will be developed and upgraded in view of the Simhastha Kumbh Mela in Nashik. A total of nine roads will be developed by the central government ahead of the religious meet in 2027 and as per the preliminary estimate, the work is likely to cost a further Rs 4000 crore. A high-level meeting regarding the highway connecting Nashik was held on Sunday in the presence of Union Road Development Minister Nitin Gadkari at Nagpur. Gadkari extended in-principle approval to the construction of necessary roads and facilities required for the upcoming Kumbh Mela to be held in Nashik as a huge crowd of devotees is expected to arrive, leading to a strain on the traffic system. It was decided that a Detailed Project Report (DPR) will be prepared soon and funds will be made available for this. The routes to be developed include, Ghoti – Pahine – Trimbakeshwar – Jawhar Phata; Dwarka Circle – Sinnar IC 21 (Samruddhi Expressway) Nandur Shingote – Kolhar; Nashik to Kasara; Savli Vihir (IC 20 Samruddhi Expressway) Shirdi – Shani Shingnapur Phata (Rahuri Khurd); Nashik to Dhule; Trimbakeshwar – Jawhar – Manor; Shadow Well – Manmad – Malegaon; Ghoti – Sinnar – Vavi – Shirdi; Shani Shingnapur Phata (Rahuri Khurd) – Ahilyanagar (Kharwandi Phata).The meeting approved the Nashik Ring Road. Along with this, it was decided to make the Nashik to Trimbak road six-lane. 'The cost will be calculated post preparation of the DPR. But the central government has assured all possible financial help as well,' said an official from the Maharashtra Public Works Department (PWD). He added, the estimated Rs 4000 crore is for the construction of roads and additional money will be required for the Nashik ring road project. 'Keeping in view the increasing interest of devotees towards Kumbh Mela and the expected crowd, I had requested Prime Minister Narendra Modi to provide assistance at the central government level for its successful planning and enabling infrastructure road development. As a result this meeting was held today,' said Fadnavis. There are eight important routes to Nashik from Mumbai, Gujarat, Palghar, Pune, Ahilyanagar, Sambhajinagar, Dhule. All these routes and the internal roads in Nashik city and the district also connect to the national highway. The meeting considered the development of all those roads. CM Fadnavis said that the expanded road network will provide more safe facilities to the devotees as it will handle the huge traffic expected during the Kumbh Mela.
