South Florida firefighter arrested on child pornography charges, officials say
A 51-year-old Boca Raton firefighter, who is a Miami-Dade resident, is facing charges of possessing child sexual abuse material, according to the Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office.
Alejandro Fernandez Callegari was arrested Thursday in Miami-Dade County.
Cyber tip leads to investigation
The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children received a cyber tip reporting a user uploading multiple files containing child sexual abuse material, deputies said.
Legal processes confirmed Fernandez as the owner and user of the reported account, authorities said.
Details of charges
Authorities said Fernandez uploaded explicit images of children, according to the arrest report.
On June 19, 2025, detectives responded to Fernandez's address, where he invoked his right to counsel and was transported to the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Facility without incident, authorities said.
Boca Raton responds
The City of Boca Raton placed Fernandez on administrative leave following his arrest, according to a statement from the Boca Raton Fire Department.
The city stated that the allegations do not reflect its values or standards and declined further comment due to the active criminal investigation.

Razaruddin says monitored ‘3R' cases weekly as IGP, but attacks against Faisal Halim and two other footballers remain unsolved
KUALA LUMPUR, June 21 — Former inspector-general of police Tan Sri Razaruddin Husain has revealed what were the biggest cases for him during his tenure, and which cases he could not resolve in time. Speaking to Malay daily Utusan Malaysia, Razarudin said cases involving the so-called '3R' issues — race, religion, royalty — were top. 'I monitor them monitored weekly, by ensuring that investigations were completed within seven days and reports submitted to the Attorney General's Chambers, unless specific instructions are received requiring a shorter time frame of three to four days to verify the findings,' he was quoted saying. He also highlighted other cases involving the Islamic faith, such as the deviant teachings linked to Global Ikhwan Services and Business Holdings Sdn Bhd (GISBH). In September last year, Bukit Aman announced a massive raid on 20 charity houses linked to GISBH in Selangor and Negeri Sembilan, in which they rescued over 400 child residents and arrest nearly 200 people between the ages of 17 and 64. Razarudin also listed the fatal shooting of Customs Department deputy director-general Datuk Shaharuddin Ibrahim in 2013 as a remaining cold case. Shaharuddin was gunned down in a morning in April 2013, as one of two men on a motorcycle fired at close range when he stopped his four-wheel-drive vehicle at the traffic light at Lebuh Sentosa, Putrajaya. To this day, no one has been charged with Shaharuddin's murder although over 40 people were arrested and quizzed, but police believe that he was killed because of his operations against smugglers and a car syndicate. Razarudin also said that the police still cannot solve the attacks against footballers Faisal Halim, Safiq Rahim, and Akhyar Rashid. 'There have also been long-standing cases involving shootouts between gangsters in Kuala Lumpur and drug cartels fighting over power and territory, as well as the sale of counterfeit drugs,' he reportedly said. Yesterday, former director of the Special Branch Datuk Seri Mohd Khalid Ismail was appointed as the new Inspector-General of Police on a two-year contract beginning this Monday. Razarudin stepped down yesterday after a two-year term, previously succeeding Tan Sri Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani.

Suzanne Morphew death: Colorado DA set to prosecute Barry Morphew says investigators "never stopped fighting for justice for Suzanne"
The Colorado district attorney who will be prosecuting the new case against Barry Morphew in the killing of his wife Suzanne says she's proud of the work that led to this week's grand jury indictment. Barry Morphew was arrested in Arizona on Friday, two days after the indictment was handed down, on a first degree murder charge and will be extradited to southern Colorado. Suzanne Morphew was 49 when she went missing on Mother's Day in 2020 in Chaffee County. Her remains were found in Saugauche County three years later. In between those dates, her husband Barry Morphew was arrested and tried on a murder charge but his case was dismissed because of prosecutorial issues with evidence. A 2024 autopsy report said Suzanne Morphew died of "unspecified means" but ruled it a homicide. While there was no indication of trauma in her remains, a drug cocktail used to tranquilize wildlife was found in one of her bones, the report said. A tranquilizer gun and accessories were found in the Morphews' home, according to investigators. The couple were parents to two sisters. Kelly said in a news conference Friday evening that Barry Morphew will be tried in Alamosa County. She referred to the death as a cold case and answered a question about why it has taken this long for a new case against Barry Morphew to take shape. "We as prosecutors in Colorado and law enforcement in Colorado, we are very dedicated to making sure that we don't forget the victims of cold case homicides, but we also understand that it is so important to make sure that we have done everything we can to bring a case to court, and we are proud of the work that we've done," Kelly said. "Every victim of homicide, murder in Colorado deserves that kind of attention, deserves that kind of work from law enforcement, and I would say that having the opportunity to work on these cases and to bring justice for these victims has been very important to me." The case has not changed, and the outcome will not either." Iris Eytan, who was Morphew's attorney in 2021 but no longer represents him, said prosecutors "fumbled" the original case. "Not only is he is a loving father, but he was a loving husband," Eytan told The Associated Press on Friday.
