Odisha mangoes now in France, Belgium as exports soar

In a breakthrough, Odisha has successfully added France and Belgium to its list of mango export destinations, reinforcing the state's emergence as an
agricultural export hub
. This achievement adds to an already growing list of international markets, including Dubai, London, Birmingham, Rome, Venice, and Dublin.
Gitashree Padhi, Deputy Director of Horticulture (DDH), Dhenkanal, said, 'The global acceptance of Odisha mangoes in markets like France and Belgium reflects the potential of our farmers and the strength of our horticultural ecosystem.'
During the first week of June 2025, 13.4 metric tonnes (MT) of mangoes were exported to London and Dubai, significantly contributed by
Farmer Producer Organizations
(FPOs). The exports were made possible through active involvement from the Saptasajya Farmer Producer Company, Dharitree Agro Plus Company, Kankadahad Farmer Producer Company and Sugandha Farmer Producer Company.
Since exports began in May 2024, Odisha's agri-export volume is nearing 100 MT, with mangoes — especially Amrapalli and Dashehari varieties — making up a significant percentage of the total.
Expanding into new markets has delivered direct benefits to Odisha's farming communities. Farmers have earned 40–60% higher prices for their mangoes, enabled by direct export access, improved quality standards, and aggregation through FPOs.
In 2024–25, Odisha entered seven international markets. In the first few months of 2025–26, the state has already exceeded that number, both in terms of destinations and export volumes. This growing momentum reflects the Odisha government's focused efforts to establish the state as a leading agri-export centre.

Mumbai, June 20 (UNI) Cooperation is the soul of India's way of life, said Union Minister for Cooperation Amit Shah in Mumbai on Friday. He was speaking at the 'Sahakar Se Samriddhi' National Symposium organized at Hotel Fairmont today. PACS societies will now not be limited to agriculture alone but will operate in 22 new service sectors. These include Jan Aushadhi Kendras, gas distribution, petrol pumps, railway ticketing services, taxi services. In the 'National Taxi' initiative, the taxi drivers will be the owners of the vehicle and their profits will be deposited directly in their bank accounts, he said. This initiatives will create new employment opportunities for women and youth, and will boost the rural economy. The country is moving towards a new era of cooperation said Shah. Speaking on occasion, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said that Maharashtra has successfully implemented various schemes in rural areas through PACS and FPOs (Farmer Producer Organizations). These schemes have given a boost to employment generation and have provided a market chain to farmers. Maharashtra has fulfilled the objectives of the central government more efficiently, Fadnavis said. Subsidised agricultural machinery distributed to farmers in Sathya Sai dist

Puttaparthi: District Collector TS Chetan informed that under 2024–25 scheme, subsidised agricultural machinery worth Rs 1,72,75,038 was distributed to 1,021 farmers across the district. Speaking at the event held on Wednesday at PGRS Meeting Hall in the Collectorate, Chetan stated that equipment such as rotavators, brush cutters, sprayers, threshers, and tillers were distributed through Rythu Samakhya Kendras (RSKs). He urged farmers to make the best use of these government-provided resources. A review meeting was also conducted with representatives of Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs), where the Collector inquired about the ongoing programmes and challenges faced by FPOs. He advised them on strategies to ensure better prices for farmers and explained detailed action plans for future. FPO representatives also submitted their proposals to strengthen the FPO framework in the district. As part of the event, a symbolic mega cheque for Rs 1.72 crore was handed over to farmers. District Agriculture Officer YV Subbarao, Horticulture Officer Chandrasekhar, DRDA PD Narasayya, agricultural development officers, agriculture department officials, FPO representatives, farmers, and leaders of farmers' unions were present.

UP's Dussehri Mango Goes Global, First Export Consignment Airlifted To Dubai

Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh's push towards boosting farm exports has achieved a key breakthrough, with 1,200 kg of Dussehri mangoes (400 boxes, each weighing 3 kg) airlifted to Dubai, an official statement said on Sunday. Dispatched from Lucknow's Mango Pack House to Dubai-based importer Vergro Trading LLC, the USD-2,992 consignment signals a new global opportunity for the state's mango growers, it said. The consignment was flagged off by Dinesh Pratap Singh, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Horticulture, Agricultural Marketing, and Agricultural Foreign Trade. Under the Indo-German AMD Project, three Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs) from the Lucknow region were trained and empowered for agricultural export. Among them, Irada Farmers Producer Company Limited and Malihabad Farmer Producer Company Limited have secured direct export orders for Dussehri mangoes from Dubai. For the first time both the FPOs are independently exporting mangoes, making it a historic milestone for the state's mango growers. "Under the visionary leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, mango exports from Uttar Pradesh are steadily rising. Our goal is to help mango farmers from the state establish a strong presence in the global market. The government is extending all necessary support in terms of production, packaging, and meeting international export standards," said Singh.
