Hyderabad: Rachakonda police busted an interstate hash oil smuggling racket and arrested two persons—one each from Andhra Pradesh and Odisha—on Wednesday. Hash oil weighing 20 kg and worth around Rs 1.2 crore was seized from them.
Cops nabbed them when the duo travelled from AP to Hyderabad to hand over the contraband to a Bengaluru-based peddler, who is now absconding. It is learnt that approximately 40 kg of ganja is used for making 1 kg of hashish oil, said Rachakonda commissioner G Sudheer Babu.
Based on a tip-off on the peddlers, special operations team (SOT) sleuths, along with Abdullapurmet police, nabbed them near the ORR at Abdullapurmet.
The accused, Pangi Keshava Rao, a farmer from ASR district in AP, and Jayaram Khemundu, a civil contractor from Koraput district, Odisha, were procuring hashish oil from AP and Odisha, supplying it to peddlers in Bengaluru via Hyderabad.
Police said that Keshava Rao's friend, a man named Krishna, helped him enter the drug trade and later introduced him to Khemundu. Keshava Rao was earlier arrested in a drugs case in AP and is currently out on bail.
The accused sold the hash oil to peddlers in Bengaluru at nearly ten times their buying price. On Monday, a buyer from Bengaluru placed an order for 20 kg of hash oil, following which they procured the contraband from Krishna and travelled to Hyderabad to hand over the same to the buyer, Sudheer Babu added.
Along with hash oil, three mobile phones and Rs 870 in cash were seized from them, and they were remanded to judicial custody. The Bengaluru-based receiver and the supplier Krishna are absconding.

An FIR has been registered in the matter at Lopoke police station in Amritsar. Further investigations are underway to trace forward and backward linkages, Yadav said.

Former Lilavati Hospital Trustee Chetan Mehta has approached the Bombay High Court seeking the dismissal of an FIR registered against him by the Bandra Police Station in Mumbai in connection with the alleged misappropriation of funds amounting to Rs 1,243 FIR was filed after Prashant Mehta, the current trustee of Lilavati Kirtilal Mehta Medical Trust, conducted a forensic audit that reportedly revealed multiple instances of financial per the plea, Mehta approached the Magistrate Court after the Bandra Police failed to lodge an FIR. Subsequently, the Magistrate Court directed the police to file an FIR. Chetan Mehta is a Belgium citizen and an Overseas Citizen of India cardholder. Hardened criminal killed in encounter with STF
Bulandshahr (UP), June 21 (UNI) A hardened criminal carrying a cash reward of Rs 1 lakh was killed by the Noida unit of the Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (STF) in the Jahangirabad area of Bulandshahr district, where two policemen were also injured, a police officer said here on Saturday. SP Rural Dr Tejveer Singh said that the Noida unit of STF received information that on Friday night some criminals had come to the Mill area under the Jahangirabad police station area of Bulandshahr district to carry out a big crime. "On the basis of the information, when the Bulandshahr police and Noida STF team tried to arrest the criminals, the criminals started firing at the police. In the retaliatory firing by the police, one criminal was shot, injured and died in the hospital," he said. He said that an investigation by the police revealed that the deceased criminal was Vinod Gadaria, alias Gurjar, alias Fauji, alias Thakur, a resident of Ishwarpur Khurkan in the Karna police station area of Shamli district, carrying a reward of Rs 1 lakh. "The police have recovered a pistol, cartridges, and a bike from the spot. It was said that Vinod Gadaria had come to Bulandshahr with one of his companions to carry out a big crime," he said.
