As the world celebrates
International Yoga Day
today, let's take a look at the time Mohanlal, the "Complete Actor" of Mollywood, made headlines with his awe-inspiring headstand pose (Shirshasana) that took the internet by storm.
'To celebrate mind, body...'
Back in 2017, Mohanlal shared a striking image on Facebook where he was seen balancing flawlessly in a Shirshasana. Known for his agility and body control even in his 50s, the image showcased not just his physical flexibility but also his deep commitment to the ancient discipline of yoga. Alongside the photo, he captioned, 'To celebrate mind, body and soul – practice Yoga. #Yogaday.'

Netizens react - Even 22 year old me can't do this...
The post instantly went viral, receiving massive attention from fans and fitness enthusiasts.
With over 47,000 likes, thousands of comments, and countless shares, the photo quickly became a motivational symbol of strength and balance. Waiting 4 villain.
.." Another one wrote, "ഈ പ്രായത്തിലും ഇങ്ങനെയൊക്കെ കാണിക്കണമെങ്കിൽ ആളുടെ പേര് മോഹൻലാൽ എന്നായിരിക്കണം.(To
be able to pull off something like this even at this age, the person's name has to be Mohanlal.)"
A fitness icon at any age
Mohanlal's dedication to fitness is no secret in the industry. Directors and co-actors have often praised his youthful energy and ability to perform physically demanding roles with ease.
In 2021, Mohanlal once again used Yoga Day as an opportunity to advocate for mental and physical well-being.
That year, he shared a peaceful photo of himself in meditation, encouraging fans to embrace yoga as part of their daily routine. His caption read, 'Practice Yoga for a healthy life #InternationalDayOfYoga #YogaDay.'
These moments show that for Mohanlal, yoga is not just an occasional display but a way of life. Whether performing a difficult headstand or sitting in calm reflection, he continues to inspire millions to find balance, discipline, and peace through yoga.
Work front
On the work front, Mohanlal was last seen in 'Thudarum' which earned 3 stars out of 5 from ETimes, and our review read, "Jakes Bejoy's music elevates the scenes, making a real impact in the storytelling. Shaji Kumar's cinematography is excellent and it is perfectly coordinated with the edits by Shafeeque VB and Nishadh Yusuf. Their collective work lay the ground for the mood of the film. Tharun, whose last film Saudi Vellakka won a National Awards, could have done better to have created a more subtle story; this very much has an '80s-'90s feel.
For Mohanlal fans, his raw magnetism might be exciting, but with its loud and overwritten scenes, the acting lacks nuance all around."

Saru actress Anushka Merchande shares her heartfelt family tradition with her sisters on Yoga Day

On the occasion of International Yoga Day , actress Anushka Merchande, best known for her role as Anika in the television show Saru, reflected on a deeply personal and cherished tradition—Sunday morning yoga sessions with her sisters. Speaking about the ritual, Anushka shared, 'Every Sunday at sunrise, my sisters and I roll out our yoga mats — a ritual that started years ago and has become a tradition we deeply cherish. Between stretches, laughter, and quiet reflection, we reconnect — not just with ourselves, but with each other.' She fondly recalled how their yoga journey began at home, guided by online videos: 'I still remember our first session — following a YouTube video on our living room TV, confusing our lefts and rights, falling over more than we balanced.' Over time, the sisters transitioned from their living room to a nearby park, embracing nature as part of their practice. 'Barefoot on the grass under open skies, surrounded by trees and the sounds of nature, made the experience feel more peaceful,' Anushka said. 'It was also about feeling connected to ourselves, to each other, and the world around us.' On this Yoga Day, Anushka revealed their special plan: 'We'll begin with 12 rounds of Surya Namaskar, followed by a short gratitude meditation, and writing down one intention each — something we want to carry forward with love and mindfulness.' by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Febre entre os homens de 40 anos, estimula a vontade e energia Baixa na libido Saiba Mais Undo Anushka's portrayal of Anika in Saru has already struck a chord with audiences, and her words reflect the same sincerity and warmth she brings to her screen roles. She said, 'It has been five to six years since I have been doing Iyengar yoga. I love it because it is based on alignment of the body and is very good for your mental health, too. It is like meditation; it is a great stress reliever and promotes positive inflow, which I really enjoy. That's the main reason I do Iyengar yoga; the physical benefits are secondary" and continues, 'Today there is one form of yoga which I call the fashion yoga. They play loud music and do yoga. That is not the real practice. The real practice is going within yourself. One shouldn't do yoga with loud music and mirrors around as it distracts the senses. For me, Iyengar yoga works the best." For the unversed, Mallika Sherawat has moved to Los Angeles and has purchased a sprawling mansion for herself. Her house, which also consists of a swimming pool and sprawling frontyard, are often featured on her Instagram posts.
